Tom Hanks Hosts First-Ever “Saturday Night Live: Home Edition”

In his first TV appearance since being diagnosed with coronavirus, Hanks hosted the show and pondered about why he was chosen to host the unusual episode, admitting he had coronavirus to “thank,” explaining: “I have been the celebrity canary in the coal mine for the coronavirus, and ever since being diagnosed I have been more like America’s dad than ever before. No one wants to be around me very long and I make people uncomfortable.”  Hanks and wife Rita Wilson announced on March 11 that they had tested positive for the virus. The two were in Australia for pre-production on Baz Luhrmann’s untitled Elvis Presley film from Warner Bros.

This is SNL’s first new episode since the series suspended production last month amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show was supposed to return from hiatus on March 28 with an original episode hosted by John Krasinski and featuring musical guest Dua Lipa.

‘Disney On Broadway’ Streaming Fundraiser For COVID-19 Relief Canceled

A streaming fundraiser of 2019’s Celebrating 25 Magical Years of Disney on Broadway has been canceled after organizers failed to secure permission to stream the concert. Disney on Broadway was scheduled to stream April 13 on broadwaycares.org in an effort to raise money for the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund. The fund was created to help financially support actors, musicians and production workers during the coronavirus pandemic. Celebrating 25 Magical Years of Disney on Broadway took place in November 2019 at New York’s New Amsterdam Theatre. The concert featured a 15-piece orchestra and a cast of 79 performers.

However, a news release stated that it was unable to reach an agreement with the leadership of the American Federation of Musicians to permit the stream of the 2019 concert. Broadway Cares said it had already received permission to stream the event from Disney Theatrical Productions, SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association.

Broadway theaters in New York have been shuttered since mid-March to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Donations to the Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS’ COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund can still be made by visiting broadwaycares.org/help2020.

Andrea Bocelli To Perform At Italy’s Empty Duomo Cathedral On Easter Sunday

Andrea Bocelli will live stream an Easter Sunday concert from Milan’s famed Duomo cathedral. The pews will be empty and Bocelli will be accompanied only by organist Emanuele Vianelli. The concert will stream live on Bocelli’s YouTube channel Sunday at 10 a.m. ET. In a statement, Bocelli said he hopes that the Easter concert, which will consist mostly of spiritual songs like “Ave Maria,” will provide some comfort to viewers regardless of their religion.

Bocelli’s live concert from an empty Duomo — which is normally full for Easter mass — will be an example of the extent to which the pandemic has altered public life. Italy has been hit hard by the pandemic, and Bocelli’s foundation has raised more than $140,000 via GoFundMe to help hospitals purchase supplies. He will also be part of Global Citizen’s huge “One World: Together At Home” event on April 18.

Amazon To Stream Stage Version Of ‘Fleabag’ For Charity

Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Fleabag” is all set to stream on Amazon Prime Video to raise money for people in need amid the coronavirus pandemic. In a press release, Waller-Bridge noted that the world is going through rough times and she hopes that the “filmed” performance could help in raising money for the people affected by the pandemic while providing wholesome entertainment to those who are in self-isolation. The actress also revealed that the money raised will be going to a number of charities including NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, and National Emergencies Trust. All the money raised from the production will support all the health care workers who are on the front lines of the pandemic.

“I hope this filmed performance of ‘Fleabag’ can help raise money while providing a little theatrical entertainment in these isolated times. All money raised will support the people throughout our society who are fighting for us on the front lines and those financially devastated by the crisis,” Waller-Bridge said. “Thank you to all our partners and to the creative team who have waived their royalties from this production to raise money for such vital causes in this unbelievably challenging situation. Thank you in advance to those who donate,” Waller-Bridge she added.

Waller-Bridge wrote “Fleabag” as a one-woman play in 2013 and went on to become a series on Amazon. The series season 2 won a total of six Primetime Emmys last year, including Outstanding Comedy Series.

James Taylor Is ‘The Voice’ Season 18’s Mega Mentor

Music icon James Taylor will serve as the mega mentor on Season 18 of The Voice. Taylor will join the coaches to mentor the artists remaining from the Battle Rounds, and prepare each team for the Knockout Rounds, which will begin on Monday (April 13) at 8 p.m. EST/PST

Only one winner on each team will advance, chosen by America’s votes and revealed at the beginning of the first live show.

Coaches Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Nick Jonas and Blake Shelton play a game of ‘telephone’ to tell each other the news about Taylor in a promotional announcement for the show. Check out the comical announcement at the link: here

Netflix is reportedly adding a new Tiger King episode, according to star Jeff Lowe. On Twitter, Lowe revealed a new Tiger King episode would premiere on Netflix soon.

In a video addressed to Los Angeles Dodgers’ player Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney Pogue, (who recently discussed being obsessed with Tiger King on her podcast, Holding Kourt), Lowe teased the couple for their interest in the show in the clip on Twitter. “Thank you for watching our show, Christie said you’re a big fan, and, yeah, you need a life,” he said. “You just wasted seven hours on us.” Lowe also dropped some news that will interest many viewers of the popular documentary series. He said: “Netflix is adding one more episode, we’ll be on next week. We’re filming here tomorrow.” He signed-off by urging the public to stay safe amid the new coronavirus pandemic, adding: “Take care, stay safe, and put your mask on.”

Maldonado-Passage was found guilty in 2019 for paying a hitman $3,000 to murder Carole Baskin, his rival and founder of Big Cat Rescue. He owned an exotic animal park and often boasted of having the largest number of big cats in America.
