‘Outlander’ Star Sam Heughan Reveals Years Of Bullying And Harassment

Outlander star Sam Heughan posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram story and Twitter detailing “six years of constant bullying, harassment, stalking and false narrative” since joining the Starz drama in 2014.

In the post, the Scottish actor said he’s been falsely accused of “manipulating fans, being a closet-homosexual, trying to mislead or exhort fans for money and disregarding coronavirus advice.” The latter comment has to do with Heughan’s decision to stay in Hawaii, where he went for vacation before everyone began sheltering at home.”I’m safe, isolated, putting no one at risk and am not a burden to the locals,” he wrote.

Heughan’s decision to address those who have subjected him and his circle of friends and family to “personal slurs, shaming, abuse, death threats, stalking, sharing of private information and vile, false narrative.” Heughan added, “I am at a loss, upset, hurt and have to speak out. It’s affecting my life, mental state and is a daily concern … I’ve never spoken about it because I believe in humanity and always hoped these bullies would just go away.”

Hours after Heughan’s reveal, the hashtag #WeStandWithSam began trending, with multiple Outlander fan accounts on social media sharing their support for the 39-year-old.

Comic-Con And WonderCon Canceled For 2020 Due To Ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic

San Diego Comic-Con is canceled for the first time in its 50-year history,  The event will return to the San Diego Convention Center next year between July 22 and 25.  Organizers of the annual pop culture event announced the news on its website “with deep regret,” saying in a statement, “Recognizing that countless attendees save and plan for its conventions each year, and how many exhibitors and stakeholders rely upon its events for a major portion of their livelihood, [organizers said] they had hoped to delay this decision in anticipation that COVID-19 concerns might lessen by summer.”

“Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures and while we are saddened to take this action, we know it is the right decision,” said spokesman David Glanzer. “We eagerly look forward to the time when we can all meet again and share in the community we all love and enjoy.”  Comic-Con said individuals who bought badges for this year can request a refund or transfer their badges to Comic-Con 2021. All 2020 badge holders will receive an email within the next week with instructions on how to request a refund.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott Says One Police Officer Killed, Two Injured During ‘Ambush’

A police officer was killed and two others were injured in what authorities described as an “ambush” in San Marcos, Texas. Officials said the shooting took place after officers responded to a 6:05 p.m. domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex, the San Marcos Police Department said in a statement. “During the course of their response, the suspect ambushed the officers with a rifle,” it said. A suspect apparently died for a self-inflicted gunshot, police said.

The Executive Director of Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas, Charley Wilkinson, said in a tweet that one of the injured officers was in critical condition. San Marcos police said both underwent surgery at a hospital.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement that the violence “is a somber reminder of the service and sacrifice our brave men and women in law enforcement make everyday to keep us safe.”

16 Killed In Nova Scotia Shooting Rampage

Sixteen people, including a police officer, are dead in Nova Scotia following the worst shooting rampage in Canadian history. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said Sunday that the suspected shooter was also dead,  identified as 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman. Police said he was believed to be wearing an RCMP uniform at one point, but he was not employed by RCMP. The motive is unknown.

The RCMP said police responded to a firearms incident in Portapique after multiple 911 calls Saturday night. Officers located several victims inside and outside the suspected shooter’s home, but there was no sign of the suspect at first. The suspect was eventually found on Sunday and the RCMP confirmed he is now dead.  RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran of the RCMP,  was killed in the shooting, police said.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted, “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the shooting in Nova Scotia. To the Portapique community, we’re keeping all of you in our thoughts. And on behalf of all Canadians, I want you to know that we’re here for you – and we’ll be here for you in the days and weeks ahead.”

Olympic Postponement Due To Pandemic Has Basketball Star Andrew Bogut Considering Retirement

Former NBA center and current Australian NBL player Andrew Bogut is staying close to home due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Bogut’s pause from sports may extend beyond the forced break.

The 35-year-old, 14-year NBA veteran was planning to retire after playing for his native Australia at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, but now that the games have been pushed back a year, Bogut told an Australian news program in a report Sunday that the delay could mean the end of his career. “I’m not doing much, I can tell you that,” Bogut said.  “To be able to kiss your kids goodnight and put them down every night … I’ve appreciated doing that,” he continued.

Bogut spent this past season in Australia after playing 11 games in the NBA with Golden State in 2018-19. He spent seven seasons with the Bucks, followed by stints with the Warriors (twice), Dallas, Cleveland and the Los Angeles Lakers. He won his only NBA championship in 2015 with Golden State.

Bogut helped Australia finish fourth in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup. He averaged 9.6 points, 8.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his NBA career, playing in 706 games and starting 661.

William Byron Wins 2nd Consecutive NASCAR Virtual Race

William Byron won his second consecutive NASCAR virtual race on Sunday. Byron held off Timmy Hill, the driver who moved him out of the way to win an earlier iRacing event, to take the win.

Byron, 22 and in his third Cup season driving for Hendrick Motorsports, is an avid iRacer who learned to drive a stock car through the platform.  “I wasn’t in a racing family growing up and obviously this was my avenue to cut my teeth,” Byron said. “I’m very thankful for what it has done for me. Driving the 24 car in real life for Hendrick Motorsports is a dream and I was really just a kid on here that was excited, a NASCAR face in a channel when I was racing against them. Now I am racing against them in real life.”

With William Byron’s second straight iRacing win, when will NASCAR get its first virtual upset?
