Tampa Bay Buccaneers Release First Photos Of Tom Brady In New Uniforms

On Tuesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers released the first photos of their new QB Tom Brady in the team’s uniforms, which were redesigned this offseason. When Tampa Bay first shared its new look in April, Brady was not among the players who modeled the outfits,

Brady has now been with the Buccaneers for three months. With the NFL still conducting its offseason in a virtual manner and not holding in-person organized team activities or minicamps, Brady gathered teammates in May for a workout at a local high school. Buccaneers coaches returned to the team’s facility on Monday for the first time since the NFL shut down locations in mid-March. Players are still not permitted to enter facilities unless are rehabilitating injuries.

FDA Pulls Emergency Use Of Malaria Drug Hydroxychloroquine For COVID-19 Patients

On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revoked the emergency use authorization for hydroxychloroquine to treat hospitalized COVID-19 patients, saying the drug carries too many risks without any apparent benefit.

The EUA was first issued in March, and applied to patients hospitalized with the illness and those in clinical trials. In April, the FDA warned doctors against prescribing the drug to COVID-19 patients outside of those settings. Monday’s action will not impact clinical trials, which are expected to continue.

The announcement covers both hydroxychloroquine and a related compound, chloroquine phosphate. These drugs are traditionally used treat malaria and certain autoimmune conditions, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and the FDA’s announcement does not apply to these uses.

Supreme Court Rules LGBTQ Workers Protected From Job Discrimination

On Monday, the Supreme Court ruled that a landmark civil rights law protects LGBT people from discrimination in employment. The court decided by a 6-3 vote that a key provision of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 known as Title VII that bars job discrimination because of sex, among other reasons, encompasses bias against LGBT workers.

“An employer who fires an individual for being homosexual or transgender fires that person for traits or actions it would not have questioned in members of a different sex. Sex plays a necessary and undisguisable role in the decision, exactly what Title VII forbids,” Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote for the court. Justices Samuel Alito, Brett Kavanaugh and Clarence Thomas dissented.

The ruling protects an estimated 8.1 million LGBT workers across the country, because most states don’t protect them from workplace discrimination. An estimated 11.3 million LGBT people live in the U.S.

Ezekiel Elliott And ‘Multiple’ Other Dallas Cowboys Players Test Positive For COVID-19

The Dallas Cowboys are declining comment over reports that “multiple” members of the football team have tested positive for COVID-19.  However, Ezekiel Elliott’s agent has confirmed that the star running back has contracted the virus.

A report from the NFL Network notes, that “none of the players are believed to have been in their team facilities” and that the Cowboys (and the Houston Texans, also reportedly with multiple positives) have followed proper health protocols. Cowboys staffers were recently allowed inside team HQ at The Star but players are not yet officially allowed inside, unless rehabbing.

U.S. Open Planning To Move Forward Without Fans In Attendance

The United States Tennis Association will hold the U.S. Open this year without fans, even though some top players have expressed concerns about attending the tournament due to the virus, according to multiple reports.

The men’s ATP Tour and the WTA, which runs the women’s circuit, are both expected to approve a plan for the Aug. 31-Sept. 13 event in New York and that a formal announcement is due soon. “We’re following each step in the (restart) procedure in the great hope that we can announce that the 2020 US Open will be played in its regularly scheduled date,” USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier said. “We hope to make an announcement in the very near future.”

No professional tennis tournaments have been held since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Wimbledon was canceled altogether while the French Open has been moved to September and is due to start one week after the scheduled U.S. Open men’s final.

Garth Brooks To Hold Concert Event Across 300 Drive-In Theaters On June 27th

Garth Brooks will headline a unique concert event on June 27,. performing across 300 drive-in theaters. The concert will be created exclusively for this event, making it the largest one-night show to play at outdoor theaters across the United States and Canada.

Says Garth. “This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community. This is old school, new school, and perfect for the time we are in.”

Tickets will go on sale on June 19 at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster. You will also be able to review the drive-in theaters available in your area. Tickets are General Admission and of limited availability. They will cost $100, all inclusive. The event will take place rain or shine and will begin at dusk.

2021 Oscars To Be Delayed Until April

The 2021 Oscars have been postponed two months, due to the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic. Originally set to air on February 28th, the awards ceremony will now take place on April 25th, 2021.

Additionally, the Academy has extended the eligibility period for nominated films by two months. The window for qualifying films now spans from January 1st 2020 to February 28th, 2021, with a general submission deadline set for January 15th 2021. The Academy plans to return to a standard January to December eligibility period next year.

The Academy made substantial, unprecedented adjustments to the eligibility rules this past April in response to the outbreak. One of those allows for digital screenings, altering the long-standing requirement that films needed to be screened physically for at least one week in a Los Angeles-area theater in order to qualify.

Apple TV+ To Debut Tom Hanks’ WWII Action Film ‘Greyhound’ This July

Apple has announced that ‘Greyhound’, starring and written by Tom Hanks, will premiere July 10 exclusively on Apple TV+.

Apple landed the worldwide rights to “Greyhound” following COVID-19 theater closures. “Greyhound” marks the second partnership with Playtone and Apple, following a straight-to-series order for the sweeping drama series “Masters of the Air,” executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman. The upcoming international limited series is the first project green-lit by Apple with Apple serving as the studio.

Santana Featuring Earth, Wind & Fire Reschedule Joint Tour

Santana and Earth, Wind & Fire postponed their joint North American Miraculous Supernatural Tour due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and now the two acts have announced rescheduled dates for the tour, which will take place almost exactly a year later than first announced.

The trek will now kick off June 18, 2021, in Chula Vista, California, taking them through August 2021 in Tampa, Florida.

Previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new dates, and ticket holders also will have the option to receive a refund if they request one within 30 days. A new date for a postponed 2020 show in George, Washington, will be announced soon. Concerts in Montreal and Nashville have been canceled due to scheduling issues; refunds for these shows will be available at the point of purchase.
