NBA Will Not Penalize Players If They Choose Not To Return To Play This Season

The NBA Board of Governors along with the Players Union have come to an agreement that the 2019-20 season will resume at Disney World in Orlando. However, the 2020-21 season will feature a lot of back-to-back games, and many more instances of four games in five nights – which can cause issues in terms of getting proper rest for players.

Additionally, the question of whether a player feels comfortable returning to play or not needs to be addressed as well.  The pandemic that the country is still dealing with means that some players may not feel comfortable returning to Orlando and finishing the season. If that is the case, the league will not penalize that player, but that specific player will lose out on a portion of his salary for those games missed.

NASCAR Bans Confederate Flags At All Racetracks

On Wednesday, NASCAR moved to ban the Confederate flag from its racetracks and facilities.

NASCAR issued a statement that read, “The presence of the Confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. Bringing people together around a love for racing and the community that it creates is what makes our fans and sport special. The display of the Confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties.”

Critics of the flag argue that its presence represents support for the time and slavery and the subsequent racist treatment of black people. The only full-time black NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace, called for the organization to ban the Confederate flag during an interview with CNN.

For more than five years, NASCAR has prevented its tracks and teams from flying the Confederate flag, but it hadn’t banned fans from doing so until now.

Carly Pearce Dedicates New Song To Late Producer Busbee

Carly Pearce recently performed at the Grand Ole Opry and used the opportunity to debut a new song, dedicated to her late friend and producer Busbee, who died in September. The track, “Show Me Around,” is a hopeful message looking forward to the day of reunion with a departed loved one.

Carly shared. “Busbee has three little girls and a beautiful wife, and he painted this picture of Heaven that was so beautiful to me, that Busbee had a map and he was getting the lay of the land and figuring out all of the places, just like Disneyland, that he wanted to show his family and show all of us. If anybody’s ever lost anybody, this felt like a really cool way to look at our loved ones that are going to meet us in Heaven and show us around.”

Busbee died in September 2019 at age 43 after being diagnosed with glioblastoma eight weeks before his death.  Pearce wrote on Instagram after the producer’s passing, “You gave my music a place in this world. I’ll cherish the 2 albums, songs, talks, laughs & memories we shared over the years. My heart is broken, but the legacy of your talents and your heart will live on in all of the artists and people you touched. I love you, Busbee.”

Bono Shares “Beautiful Day” Cover Featuring Camila Cabello, Khalid, Noah Cyrus And More

U2 frontman Bono shared a new version of his band’s “Beautiful Day” to support Black Lives Matter.

Bono said in a new video that was delivered as part of YouTube’s “Class of 2020” series: “As an Irishman, I’ve always believed that America is not just a country, it’s an idea, it’s a dream that belongs to the whole world. Now I know in recent times the world has been reminded that America is an idea that doesn’t even belong to a lot of Americans, and that for many Black Americans, Lady Liberty’s torch is far from a beacon of hope, it’s often a flashlight in the face.”

The new version of “Beautiful Day” was produced by Billie Eilish’s brother FINNEAS and features vocals from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Camila Cabello, Ty Dolla $ign, Khalid, Leon Bridges, Noah Cyrus and Ben Platt, among others.
