Listen To Tom Morello’s Previously Unreleased Song ‘You Belong to Me’

Tom Morello has released “You Belong to Me,” a previously unissued song from his solo project The Nightwatchman.

The track mentions Nat Turner, who led a 1831 slave rebellion in Virginia. Morello wrote in a statement of the song: “Our present is tethered to our past. The overseer’s whip & noose of history are today echoed in the policeman’s baton & pistol. I had a very clear idea I wanted to express with the song & the video and that is: Sometimes, enough is enough.”

Morello has released four albums as The Nightwatchman, including his most recent, 2011’s World Wide Rebel Songs. He has toured and recorded with supergroup Prophets of Rage and released his 2018 solo LP, The Atlas Underground

Justice Department To Send Federal Agents To Fight Crime In St. Louis, Memphis

The U.S. Justice Department said on Thursday that federal law enforcement agents will be sent to St. Louis and Memphis, Tennessee, to help fight violent crime. The announcement marks the expansion of “Operation Legend,” a plan introduced last month in several cities to address spikes in crimes such as murder. The operation was first launched in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 8, and has since been expanded to Chicago; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Cleveland; Detroit and Milwaukee.

U.S. Attorney General William Barr said in a statement that federal agents being sent to St. Louis and Memphis will work with local law enforcement “to take the shooters and chronic violent criminals off of our streets.”

The Justice Department said the agents going to the two cities will be from the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Green Bay Packers To Ban Fans For First Two Home Games Of Season

The Green Bay Packers announced Thursday that they will not allow fans into Lambeau Field for their first two home games of the 2020 NFL season because of the coronavirus pandemic. The decision means the stadium will remain empty in Week 2 against the NFC North rival Detroit Lions and Week 4 versus the Atlanta Falcons

Packers President Mark Murphy said in a statement:  “Lambeau Field will not be the same without our fans’ energetic support in the stands. Given the extraordinary circumstances this year and the additional protocols in place, though, we determined it was best to take incremental steps to start the regular season. These two games will allow us to focus our attention on safely conducting games inside the stadium with all necessary participants.

“We are hopeful that we will be able to host fans for games later in the season, should conditions allow. We will continue to consult with community healthcare and public health officials on the pandemic conditions in our area. We ask our fans to continue to help by wearing masks and maintaining social distancing guidelines.”

The Packers’ first potential home game with fans in attendance at Lambeau will be Nov. 1 against the Minnesota Vikings.
