NY Yankees Pitcher Aroldis Chapman Suspended Three Games, Tampa Bay and Yankees Managers Suspended One Game

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash was suspended for Wednesday’s game against the Yankees, based on his ejection and postgame comments on Tuesday.  NY Yankees manager Aaron Boone also was suspended for the game, and Yankees reliever Aroldis Chapman was suspended for three for what Major League Baseball called “intentionally throwing a pitch at the head area” of (Rays infielder) Mike Brosseau in the ninth inning” of Tuesday’s 5-3 win over the Rays. All three also were fined undisclosed amounts.

Cash said he felt his suspension was “fair” and “warranted,” though he was disappointed to miss the game.  Boone said he did not consider his and Chapman’s suspensions justified. Cash lashed out at the Yankees and the umpires after Tuesday’s game, most pointedly because closer Aroldis Chapman threw a 100.5 mph fastball just above the head of Brosseau with two outs in the ninth, the latest episode in an ongoing battle between the teams.

Legendary Hall Of Fame Mets Pitcher Tom Seaver Dies At 75

Legendary MLB pitcher Tom Seaver, a Hall-of-Famer who led the New York Mets to their unlikely 1969 World Series championship, has died at the age of 75 after a long illness.  The Baseball Hall of Fame said in statement on Wednesday that Seaver died in his sleep on Monday from complications of Lewy body dementia and COVID-19. Lewy body dementia is a degenerative neurological disease similar to Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

Seaver’s wife, Nancy, and daughters Sarah and Anne said in a joint statement: “We are heartbroken to share that our beloved husband and father has passed away. We send our love out to his fans, as we mourn his loss with you.”

Mets owner Fred Wilpon and his son Jeff, a top executive with the team, said in a statement on the New York Mets Twitter page: “Tom was nicknamed ‘The Franchise’ and ‘Tom Terrific’ because of how valuable he truly was to our organization and our loyal fans. Beyond the multitude of awards, records, accolades, World Series championship, all-star appearances and just overall brilliance, we will always remember Tom for his passion and devotion to his family, the game of baseball and his vineyard.”

Seaver, who won 311 games during his long career, is considered one of the greatest right-hand pitchers in baseball history. He spent many years in broadcasting after retiring as a player, and also opened a winery in his native California. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.

Dwayne Johnson and his family are recovering after having tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19.) Johnson revealed on social media Wednesday that he, his wife Lauren Hashian, and their daughters Jasmine, 4, and Tiana, 2, all have been sick with the virus, with the actor and his wife being particularly unwell. Thankfully, they are all now feeling much better.

Johnson said in his video message on Instagram.: “I wanted to give you guys a little helpful update on things that have been going on on my end for the past two-and-a-half to three weeks now. So the update is this: my wife Lauren as well as my two baby girls and myself, we have all tested positive for COVID-19. I could tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family, and for me, too, personally as well.”

Johnson said that he and his family contracted the contagious respiratory virus from family friends, who he said are “devastated” that they unwittingly spread the virus.  He added that while his daughters “bounced back” from the virus pretty quickly, he and Lauren “had a rough go at it.”   He also urged his fans to exercise extreme caution when interacting with others to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Metallica Becomes First Band With No. 1 Rock Songs In Four Different Decades

Metallica has become the first band to have a No. 1 song on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Songs airplay chart in four different decades.

Metallica’s “All Within My Hands,” off their S&M2 concert album alongside the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, recently hit No. 1 on the charts, brining their total of No. 1 Mainstream Rock Songs to 10.  This makes Metallica one of just six rock acts to have breached the double digit mark, along with Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Van Halen, Disturbed and Tom Petty.

Metallica are the only group to have a No. 1 song in four different decades — the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s and 2020s. Metallica’s No. 1 Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs are: Until it Sleeps (1996); Hero of the Day (1996); Turn the Page (1998); No Leaf Clover (2000); I Disappear (2000); The Day That Never Comes (2008); Cyanide (2009); Hardwired (2016); Atlas, Rise! (2017); and All Within My Hands (2020).

In her caption, she wrote that she remembers how it felt to see herself on a billboard in Times Square for the first time but, in her words, “PARIS! Wish I was there to see it in person.”

FINNEAS Drops New Song And Video For “What They’ll Say About Us”

Songwriter and producer FINNEAS has shared a music video for his new song “What They’ll Say About Us.”

FINNEAS wrote “What They’ll Say About Us” during quarantine, and said in a press release: “I wrote this song in June after spending the day at a protest in Downtown L.A., filled with hope with the prospect that millions of people were coming together from all over the world to fight against institutionalized racism and inequality. During that time, I’d also been following Amanda Kloots as she documented her husband Nick Cordero’s time in the ICU while in a coma after being admitted for COVID-19. Imagining her sitting by his side, waiting, hopeful for him to wake up, it got me thinking about all the millions of people, all over the world, who also have loved ones, parents, children and extended family members going through the same thing. Fighting this horrific virus. Some will overcome and wake up again, while others, tragically may not. This song is dedicated to all who have had to endure this year. I hope this song can offer some sort of comfort to those who may need it.”

What They’ll Say About Us is the first new music from FINNEAS since his video for “Let’s Fall in Love for the Night.” He also released a deluxe edition of his debut EP, Blood Harmony.
