President Trump Returns To White House After Being Discharge From Hospital Due To COVID-19 Diagnosis

President Trump was discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, and returned to the White House after being treated for COVID-19 over the past three days. Trump left the hospital in Bethesda, Md., at around 6:40 p.m. Monday evening wearing a mask, while flashing a thumbs up and a balled fist to cameras before entering a motorcade for a brief drive to board a Marine One flight back to Washington, D.C.  Before emerging from the hospital, the president tweeted that he would “be back on the campaign trail soon!” In a video message shared to his Twitter account Monday night, Trump thanked the staff at Walter Reed and again urged Americans not to fear the virus.

Trump’s medical team said he had met the requirements for discharge, however his physician Dr. Sean Conley did note that the president “may not entirely be out of the woods yet,” adding that the White House medical unit could handle his ongoing treatment. Conley said Trump hadn’t had a fever for 72 hours and that there was no evidence of the presence of live coronavirus. Trump has received “medical management that is within national, clinical and societal guidelines,” said Jayson Blaylock, head doctor at Walter Reed.

Conley acknowledged that over the weekend the president’s oxygen levels had dropped twice, and that he’d been treated with the powerful steroid dexamethasone, which is recommended only for COVID-19 patients who need oxygen, including those on ventilators. Doctors say COVID-19 patients remain especially vulnerable to complications for as many as 10 days after their first symptoms, and Trump’s age and weight place him in a high-risk category.

Bill O’Brien Fired As Houston Texans Coach and General Manager

The Houston Texans have fired head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien after a winless start to the 2020 season. O’Brien was fired after the Texans fell to 0-4 on Sunday following a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Associate head coach Romeo Crennel was named the team’s interim head coach.

Texans chairman and CEO Cal McNair said in a statement Monday: “On behalf of my family and our entire organization, I want to sincerely thank Bill O’Brien and his family for their impact on our franchise. Bill’s leadership moved our organization forward as he guided us to four AFC South division championships, 52 wins and multiple playoff appearances during his tenure. Bill proved himself as a coach and leader in this league. I spoke with him earlier today and told him we are moving in a different direction. Romeo Crennel will serve as our interim head coach for the remainder of the 2020 season. We have a talented team and I have no doubt our players and staff will rally to make Texans fans proud as we aim to win championships and do great things for the city of Houston.”

O’Brien was officially named general manager in January. The McNair family hired O’Brien in 2014 after he spent two years at Penn State. In seven seasons with the franchise, he posted a 52-48 record and won four division titles.

Maren Morris has released a new song, “Better Than We Found It,” as well as an accompanying video.

“I wanted to write something to address exactly how I feel right now, and this came together pretty quickly,” says Maren. “It’s a protest song—it’s the most American thing to protest and protest songs have been so embedded in American culture.” The video features members of Maren’s community in Nashville, including: a young man impacted by the politicization of immigration; the family of Daniel Hambrick, who was killed by Nashville police in 2018; and young organizers of a protest supporting Black Lives Matter. The video ends with a letter Maren wrote to her infant son, Hayes.

A portion of the song’s proceeds will be donated to the Black Women’s Health Imperative, a nonprofit organization created by Black women to help protect and advance the health and wellness of Black women and girls.
