Toronto Raptors announce they will play remainder of home games this season in Tampa

The Toronto Raptors have announced they will finish the 2020–21 season in Tampa due to ongoing border restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  The U.S.-Canada border remains closed to nonessential travel, and the league would have otherwise needed an exemption to a requirement that anyone entering Canada for nonessential reasons must isolate for 14 days.

The Raptors have played their home games at Amalie Arena, home of the Stanley Cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning.  Raptors president Masai Ujiri said Thursday in a statement, “Florida has been really welcoming to us and we’re so grateful for the hospitality we’ve found in Tampa and at Amalie—we’re living in a city of champions, and we intend to carry on the tradition of winning for our new friends and fans here. But home is where the heart is, and our hearts are in Toronto. We think often of our fans, of our Scotiabank Arena family, and all those we are missing back home, and we can’t wait until we can all be together again.”

The Raptors are 12—13 and sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. They are 6—5 at home on the year.

Jameson Rodgers & Luke Combs Debut “Cold Beer Calling My Name” Music Video

Jameson Rodgers and Luke Combs just released the video for their collab “Cold Beer Calling My Name.”

Jameson shares the story of how Luke came to sing on the track, “‘Cold Beer Calling My Name” is a song I wrote with my buddies, Hunter Phelps, Brett Tyler, and Alysa Vanderheym. Hunter had this idea and it’s a fun, easy song, but it actually took us two or three writing sessions to finish it up. Once we finished it up we knew it’d be a cool- or I thought it’d be a cool song to have somebody on it. At the time, I was out with Luke Combs and so I asked Luke if he’d like to sing on it. I know he’s a cold beer drinker like myself and so it work out”

Morgan Wallen speaks out in video on Instagram to issue apology for his use of racial slur

Morgan Wallen took to Instagram and posted a five-minute video apology regarding what happened on the night he was recorded using a racial slur. Wallen asked his fans ‘not to defend him’ because he “was wrong” and now takes “ownership” of problems caused by his use of the N-word.

The 27-year-old Wallen had remained silent since the incident, but emerged on Wednesday to give his side of the story. “I’m long overdue to make a statement regarding my last incident,” he said, adding that he took time to collect his thoughts and “seek some real guidance.” Said Wallen, “The video you saw was me on hour 72 of a bender, and that’s not something I’m proud of either. Obviously, the natural thing to do is to apologize further and continue to apologize because you got caught, and that’s not what I wanted to do.”

Wallen said he has also reached out and engaged in “some very real and honest conversations” with leaders of various Black organizations. He added, “Our actions matter. Our words matter and I just want to encourage anyone watching to please learn from my mistake. There’s no reason to downplay what I did. It matters and please know I’m carefully choosing my next steps in repair.”

The fallout from that incident has seen Wallen suspended by his record label, pulled from radio, and dropped by many in the country music genre.
