AC/DC’s Angus Young shoots down rumors of secret Bon Scott recordings

AC/DC lead guitarist Angus Young has debunked the long-standing rumor that there are secret recordings of Bon Scott singing some of the songs from the band’s blockbuster “Back In Black” album.

The band released the album in 1980, following Scott’s death earlier in the year. Ever since, there has been speculation that Scott was involved in the songwriting and that there are even “top secret” recordings of Bon singing some of the tracks.

Angus addressed the rumor during a new interview with Paste Magazine, saying, “Yeah, But no. There’s never been one. Bon never really got the chance. At the time, me and Malcolm were writing songs, which became the songs for ‘Back In Black.’  We were in London in a rehearsal room, and Bon had come down, too. And what used to happen was, me and Malcolm would get together and get a drum kit, and Malcolm would get behind the drums sometimes, and I’d get on the guitar and just tap out a riff. Or other times, Malcolm would get on the guitar and he’d get me to just knock out a simple beat on the drums. Anyhow, we were working away, and it was on an intro which was actually what became the intro for ‘Hells Bells’.

Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” sets chart record with 7th week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Despite backlash from the music industry following his use of a racial slur, Morgan Wallen’s sophomore project, Dangerous: The Double Album, made history this week as it spends its seventh consecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Dangerous became the only country album to spend its first seven weeks at No.1 on the Billboard 200 in the 64-year history of the chart.

According to Billboard, the only other country album to tally its first six weeks at No.1 was Garth Brooks’ The Chase in 1992. The Chase later returned to No.1 for a total of seven non-consecutive weeks. Dangerous and The Chase are two of only eight country albums that have spent at least seven weeks in total at No.1. The last album, regardless of genre, to spend seven consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 was Drake’s Views in 2016.

Wallen has faced severe backlash following his use of the racial slur; his label, Big Loud, revealed that his recording contract had been suspended indefinitely, and his music was pulled from hundreds of radio stations across the country, as well as being removed from major playlists across various DSPs, including Spotify and Apple Music. The Academy of Country Music revealed that he was ineligible for the upcoming ACM Awards and will not be invited to participate in the show. His content and appearances were also removed from CMT and the Country Music Association.
