Suspect at large after three people are killed in shooting near Austin shopping center

Three people were killed in a shooting in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, which authorities say appear to be domestic-related. Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services reported the 3 victims died at the scene at Arboretum Oaks Apartments near Great Hills Plaza office building and Arboretum shopping center in north Austin.

Police identified the suspect as Stephen Nicholas Broderick, 41, a black man standing 5 feet and 7 inches tall. As of press time, the suspect was still at large, and he was last seen wearing a gray hoodie, sunglasses and a baseball cap. During a news conference Sunday the police said they no longer consider the incident an active shooting as it was believed he knew the victims and targeted them in the shooting but added that “danger remains high” as there were concerns he may take hostages in the area.

Brooklyn Nets Kevin Durant misses full game against Heat after suffering left thigh contusion

Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant suffered a left thigh contusion in the first half against the Miami Heat on Sunday and was unable to return. Durant made contact with Heat forward Trevor Ariza, and he was able to walk off the court and back to the locker room before the team announced that their star player was done for the day. No timetable for a return has been announced.

Durant has played in only 24 games this season; the 11-time All-Star has dealt with a nagging hamstring injury this season after he missed the entire the 2019–20 season recovering from an Achilles injury.

Durant scored a quick eight points before he suffered the injury against the Heat. The Heat went on to defeat the Nets with a score of 109-107, after Miami’s Bam Adebayo hit a game-winning buzzer-beater with the score tied.
