Kansas City Chiefs tight end Sean Culkin taking his entire $920K base salary for 2021 in Bitcoin:

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Sean Culkin said he would take his 2021 salary in bitcoin. The Chiefs will pay his salary in dollars, which will automatically be converted to bitcoin on a weekly basis through Strike by Zap, an application that enables users to make bitcoin payments via bank account or debit card. Culkin’s base salary is $920,000.

Culkin said in a statement: “Considering my career — particularly its physical demands, and brevity – it makes the most sense to be paid in sound money that I believe protects its purchasing power over time. From a macro standpoint, I believe we are in the beginning stage of Bitcoin’s shift away from being extremely speculative, to a legitimate asset class viewed as a store of value.”

The player said he’s not recommending that anyone should follow his lead; he’s reportedly the first NFL player to receive all his salary in bitcoin.

Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood reveals he’s been given the all-clear after second cancer diagnosis

Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood revealed that he was recently diagnosed with a rare cancer, small-cell carcinoma. The 73-year-old Wood said he spent the latest lockdown “fighting” the disease, but has since been given the all-clear by doctors.  This is Wood’s second battle against cancer, following a previous diagnosis of lung cancer in 2017.

Said Wood: “I’ve had cancer two different ways now. I had lung cancer in 2017 and I had small-cell more recently that I fought in the last lockdown.” Wood credited the idea of “higher power” in aiding his recent recovery, saying, “I’m going through a lot of problems now, but throughout my recovery, you have to let it go. And when you hand the outcome over to your higher power, that is a magic thing. All I can do is stay positive in my attitude, be strong and fight it, and the rest is up to higher power.”
