Deftones drop video for their new single ‘Ceremony’

Deftones have released a music video for their new single “Ceremony”. The clip was directed by Leigh Whannell, writer and director of the 2020 blockbuster “The Invisible Man.”

Deftones frontman Chino Moreno said: “When Leigh tweeted that he was a fan, we immediately thought it would be cool to collaborate with him given the chance. We’re fans of his as well, so it made sense that we should reach out. One moment we’re DM’ing each other on Twitter, and the next we’re on set making Ceremony. This has always been the best way for us to collaborate: organically, collaboratively and in this case, expeditiously. We hope everyone enjoys it as much as we had making it.”

Whannell added, “I’ve been a huge Deftones fan for over twenty years and have always admired the devotion they have dedicated to every aspect of their art – from music videos to album covers to their cryptic and intriguing lyrics. To get a chance to be a part of that art was a dream come true.”

The Struts and Paris Jackson team up in video for ‘Low Key In Love’

The Struts and Paris Jackson have released a music video for their brand new collaboration “Low Key in Love.”

Struts frontman Luke Spiller said: “When we decided to explore the idea of a duet, I thought back to that night and remembered that Paris played a brilliant acoustic set. Something inside was telling me that everything happened for a reason, so I decided to message her. I’m convinced some things are just written in the stars. Bringing in Paris just gave the song a whole new dimension and really brings the story to life. She is beautiful and brilliant. A star.”

Jackson added: “It’s been a privilege and an honor to sing on a song that I know means so much to Luke, and I’m grateful for the friendship that has sprung from such a lovely project. It’s unlike anything I have ever done or thought to do before, and I’m here for it.”

Derek Chauvin convicted of second-degree murder and all other charges in death of George Floyd

Jurors on Tuesday found former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree murder, third-degree murder and manslaughter in the killing of George Floyd last May.  The jurors came to their decision after 10 hours of deliberations and some three weeks of testimony, which included dozens of witnesses. Chauvin, 44, was taken away in handcuffs and will go directly to jail. He will be sentenced in eight weeks. The recommended sentence in Minnesota for a first-time offender found guilty is 12-and-a-half years in prison for either second- or third-degree murder, and four years for second-degree manslaughter.

Floyd, a 46-year-old black man who was in police custody in Minneapolis for allegedly spending a counterfeit $20 bill, died facedown on the ground with his hands cuffed behind him as the white officer pinned his knee to Floyd’s neck for about nine minutes. Millions around the world saw the video of Chauvin, his hands in his pockets and his sunglasses atop his head, with Floyd underneath him crying out for his dead mother and repeatedly gasping, “I can’t breathe.”The tragedy sparked worldwide protests against racial bias and police brutality and forced many law enforcement agencies to review and reform their policies on use of force.

Three other now-former officers on the scene with Chauvin — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao — all were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter, and will be tried apart from Chauvin this summer. All have pleaded not guilty.

Tight End Jordan Reed retiring from NFL due to issues from concussions

Former Washington Football Team tight end Jordan Reed announced his retirement from the NFL because of lingering issues from multiple concussions suffered throughout his career.

The 30-year-old Reed visited Orlando’s Plasticity Center in late winter for a brain scan, and said based on the results it was recommended he retire. Reed said: “Before when I had a concussion I would feel better afterwards and I wouldn’t have lingering effects. If I didn’t have any symptoms I would have kept playing. I’m OK with it because I know the reason why I’m making the choice is for family and my children, so I can be there for them. It’s just time.”

Reed played seven seasons with Washington and spent last year with San Francisco, catching 355 passes with 28 touchdowns in a career plagued by injuries. He played 10 games with the 49ers last season, catching 26 passes. Injuries limited Reed throughout his career; he suffered at least seven documented concussions and dealt with soft-tissue injuries as well as knee and toe issues. Fractures in his big toes led to him needing surgery and affected his game over multiple seasons.
