The Pretty Reckless team up with Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron for new video “Only Love Can Save Me Now”

The Pretty Reckless have released their new video for the single Only Love Can Save Me Now, taken from their latest album Death By Rock And Roll.  Soundgarden legends Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron join the band on the song and appear in the video.

Said Kim: It was super fun to spend time in the studio with Taylor, Ben, and Matt, and to have the opportunity to contribute to this The Pretty Reckless song.  Only Love Can Save Me Now has elements of classic Soundgarden and the riff would probably be at home on Louder Than Love. These are great guitar parts that Ben came up with. They lay down a heavy foundation that allows the entire song to open up with Taylor’s powerful and haunting vocals. Cheers, and thanks to The Pretty Reckless for inviting Matt and me to play on this track!”  Matt added: Kim and I had a blast recording with Taylor and The Pretty Reckless on their new single Only Love Can Save Me Now, a fantastic rock track that sounds amazing at full volume. Many thanks to the band for inviting us to play on their new album Death By Rock And Roll.”

The Pretty Reckless’ Taylor Momsen said: It’s hard to describe the feeling around our song Only Love Can Save Me Now. The song was born out of tragedy and brought to life by two of my favorite musicians of all time, Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil. Hearing them play it is simply surreal. This song represents getting through the worst time in my life, and yet, is one of my proudest achievements. It means that there is hope, and that life has to go on, and most importantly, is worth living.”

Tones And I announces upcoming debut album “Welcome To The Madhouse”

Tones and I has announced her debut album Welcome to the Madhouse will arrive on July 16th. Tones and I said in a statement: “This album for me is very up and down and reflects the forever changing emotions in me. There are songs on the album that were written before ‘Dance Monkey,’ about not knowing if busking was right for me. There are songs about my good friend T passing away and not wanting to deal with those emotions. The ups and downs of life in lockdown and the mental challenges/struggles. Some songs make me laugh and some make me cry but there is no running theme or vibe to the album — the songs are unique to how I was feeling the day I wrote them.”   The Australian singer’s first official LP follows hit singles including “Dance Monkey” and “Fly Away,” with the latter appearing on the upcoming album.

Ahead of Welcome to the Madhouse’s release, Tones and I also shared the animated video for the new single “Cloudy Day,” which you can view at the link – here.

Welcome to the Madhouse is available to preorder now ahead of its July 16th arrival.  Tone and I is also planning to announce U.S. tour dates in support of the album in the coming weeks.

New York Islanders defeat Boston Bruins 6-2 in Game 6 to reach Stanley Cup playoff semifinals for second straight year

New York Islander’s Brock Nelson scored twice and Semyon Varlamov stopped 23 shots, helping the Islanders defeat the Boston Bruins 6-2 in Game 6 on Wednesday night at Nassau Coliseum, earning them a return trip to the Stanley Cup semifinals. Kyle Palmieri, Trais Zajac, Cal Clutterbuck and Ryan Pulock also scored to help the Islanders set up a rematch with the defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. Josh Bailey and Jean-Gabriel Pageau each had two assists.

Nelson said: “It was awesome. The place was rocking tonight. The fans were feeding us energy. The team played great. One of those nights (coach) Barry (Trotz) touched on after the game, you’ll always remember moments like that. That was a big game, a big team effort from everybody.”

The Bruins, who reached the Stanley Cup Final two years ago, were eliminated in the second round for the second straight year. Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said of the Islanders: “They’re a good defensive team. They manage pucks clearly better than us. We’re not getting those free chances they got in terms of mismanaging pucks. They do play a good game that way, they don’t beat themselves.”

President Biden travels to the UK to meet with PM Boris Johnson ahead of G7 summit

President Biden arrived in the UK on his first overseas trip as U.S. president, and will plan to meet Boris Johnson in Cornwall ahead of the G7 summit.   Biden is expected to deliver a warning not to let the Brexit trade dispute “imperil” the Northern Ireland peace process. The president is also hoping to show that the United States is back as a major international diplomatic force following the presidency of Donald Trump, and hopes to use the visit to Europe to shore up transatlantic alliances.

Biden flew in to the UK on Air Force One, landing at the U.S. airbase at RAF Mildenhall before heading on to Cornwall for talks with Johnson and the G7 summit in Carbis Bay. He told an audience of US military personnel and service families: “We are going to make it clear that the United States is back and democracies of the world are standing together to tackle the toughest challenges and the issues that matter most to our future.”

Biden also called for international action to end the Covid-19 pandemic, saying: “This diplomacy is essential because no single nation acting alone can meet all the challenges we face today because the world is changing.”  The United States is expected to buy 500 million more doses of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine to share through the global Covax alliance for donation to 92 lower income countries and the African Union over the next year.

Interior department watchdog says police did not clear Lafayette Park for Trump photo-op, rather to install fencing

An Interior Department watchdog said Wednesday that U.S. park police (“USPP”) cleared Black Lives Matter protesters from Lafayette Park near the White House last June to erect fencing around the area, not to make way for former President Donald Trump’s walk to St. John’s church. The department’s inspector general said the commander in charge of clearing out the crowd didn’t know of Trump’s plans to walk through the park to the church before plans were already in motion to disperse protesters, and the USPP said that they sought to clear the area in order to erect anti-scale fencing around the park in response to violence and vandalism experienced during previous days’ protests.

The inspector general’s office said: “We found that the USPP had the authority and discretion to clear Lafayette Park and the surrounding areas on June 1. The evidence we obtained did not support a finding that the USPP cleared the park to allow the president to survey the damage and walk to St. John’s Church. Instead, the evidence we reviewed showed that the USPP cleared the park to allow the contractor to safely install the antiscale fencing in response to destruction of property and injury to officers occurring on May 30 and 31. Further, the evidence showed that the USPP did not know about the President’s potential movement until mid- to late afternoon on June 1 — hours after it had begun developing its operational plan and the fencing contractor had arrived in the park.”

Trump, in a statement on his website, thanked the inspector general for “completely and totally exonerating me in the clearing of Lafayette Park.” He added: “As we have said all along, and it was backed up in today’s highly detailed and professionally written report, our fine Park Police made the decision to clear the park to allow a contractor to safely install anti-scale fencing to protect from Antifa rioters, radical BLM protestors, and other violent demonstrators who are causing chaos and death to our cities. In this instance, they tried burning down the church the day before the clearing. Fortunately, we were there to stop the fire from spreading beyond the basement — and it was our great honor and privilege to do so. Again, thank you to the Inspector General!”
