Paramore’s Hayley Williams and Josh Farro receive songwriting credit on Olivia Rodrigo’s song “good 4 u”

Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams and former guitarist Josh Farro have been added to the writing credits of pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s song ‘good 4 u.’ A listing in the repertory of the ‘American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers’ (ASCAP) notes that Williams and Farro (who left Paramore in 2010) are now credited on the track and listed as writers alongside Rodrigo and producer Dan Nigro. Williams and Farro were not originally credited.

Williams revealed the news to her Instagram Story, sharing a screenshot of a post made by Warner Chappell Music highlighting the single’s Number 1 peak on the Top 40 chart. The post gave a “huge shoutout to our writers Hayley Williams [and] Joshua Farro”, to which Williams added a caption: “Our publisher is wildin rn”. Music journalists and fans have pointed out obvious similarities between ‘good 4 u’ and Paramore’s 2007 hit ‘Misery Business’ for some time.

Rodrigo’s debut album ‘Sour’ also lists Taylor Swift and Jack Antonoff as songwriters on the track ‘1 Step Forward, 3 Steps Back’, due to its interpolation of melodies from Swift’s ‘New Year’s Day’.

Jaguars running back Travis Etienne to miss entire season after suffering foot injury

Jaguars running back Travis Etienne will miss his entire rookie season, after suffering a mid-foot sprain on Monday night. The Jaguars put Etienne on injured reserve, which means he will not play at all in 2021. The move had been expected after tests today revealed he suffered a serious foot injury during Monday’s preseason game.

Etienne caught one pass for three yards and carried the ball once before exiting Monday’s contest against New Orleans. He will require further testing to determine the extent of the injury, and he was spotted postgame wearing a protective boot.

The Clemson product was the second former Tiger to be selected by Jacksonville in the first round of the 2021 NFL draft. Etienne was taken with the No. 25 pick, 24 spots after the Jaguars selected ex-Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence at No. 1.

Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer said postgame he doesn’t know the severity of Etienne’s injury. The rookie running back could be out of Jacksonville’s lineup when it faces the Texans in Week 1.

Etienne and Co. will look to bring the Jaguars to the playoffs in 2021 following a three-year playoff drought. Jacksonville has made the postseason just three times since 2000, and the franchise has never reached the Super Bowl.

House Democrats break stalemate, voting to advance $3.5 trillion budget bill and infrastructure plan

House Democrats have approved a $3.5 trillion budget blueprint, which advanced two pieces of President Joe Biden’s agenda. The House voted 220-212 on Tuesday to instruct committees to write the bill, despite a disagreement between a small group of moderate Democrats and progressives in the House that lasted into the early morning of Tuesday.

Lawmakers returned during their August recess to Capitol Hill as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tied the $3.5 trillion budget spending plan and a $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill together, while committing to take up a vote on the infrastructure bill by Sept. 27. The rule was passed along party lines with all Democrats voting in favor and all Republicans voting against it.

Biden praised House Democrats and called Pelosi “masterful” in her leadership. Biden said: “We are a step closer to truly investing in the American people, positioning our economy for long-term growth and building an America that outcompetes the world,” adding, “There were differences, strong points of view. They’re always welcome. What is important is that we came together to advance our agenda.”
