16-year-old boy killed, 2 teens injured in shooting at school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky

A 16-year-old boy was killed and two other teenagers were injured in a shooting at a school bus stop in Louisville, Kentucky, Wednesday morning. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the three teens were waiting for a bus when they were shot in a drive-by at about 6:30 a.m. local time.

One of the injured kids, a 14-year-old boy, is in the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The other survivor, a 14-year-old girl, was treated for minor injuries at the scene, police said. Police are looking for the occupants of a grey Jeep they say was in the area at the time of the shooting.

The three victims have not been identified but Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Marty Pollio said they are students at Eastern High School. The school bus arrived shortly after the “traumatic” slaying, Pollio said, and a bus stop for middle schoolers was close by.

President Biden says U.S. to donate 500 million COVID-19 vaccine doses globally

The White House said that the Biden administration will purchase 500 million more doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine to donate to low- and middle-income countries, bringing the total number of shots committed by the U.S. for the global supply to 1.1 billion.

President Biden announced the news during a virtual COVID summit on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly on Wednesday. The doses of Pfizer’s vaccine will begin shipping out to countries in January, and Mr. Biden said the 500 million doses will all be shipped by September 2022. The U.S. has so far committed to giving more than 600 million vaccine doses to other nations. Nearly 160 million of these vaccine doses have been shipped abroad thus far.

Mr. Biden has stressed that defeating the COVID-19 pandemic requires a global response, and he called on fellow world leaders at the start of Wednesday’s summit to do more to enhance equitable access to vaccines, expand availability of tests and therapeutics, and take steps to prepare for the next pandemic.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Antonio Brown placed on reserve/COVID-19 list

Tampa Bay Buccaneers wideout Antonio Brown has been placed on the COVID-19 list Wednesday after testing positive. The positive diagnosis leaves Brown’s status for Week 3’s showdown against the Rams in Los Angeles up in the air.

Since Brown is vaccinated, he will need to produce two negative tests within 24 hours to play in the game between the two undefeated teams. In early September, the Buccaneers became the second team in the NFL to have all of their players, coaches and staff fully vaccinated.

The Buccaneers are making their first road trip of the season for Sunday’s game against the Rams; because the game is across the country, it could potentially complicate the timeline for Brown’s availability. Teams typically fly to their opponent’s city the day before games, meaning that for Brown to make it on the team flight, his second negative tests would likely need to be cleared by Saturday morning before the flight.

Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob fined $50K for comments about 76ers’ Ben Simmons

The NBA announced Wednesday that Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob has been fined $50,000 for violating the NBA’s anti-tampering rule.  Lacob’s fine came after he cast doubt during a recent interview with the San Francisco Chronicle that the Warriors would be interested in acquiring Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons. Lacob told the Chronicle: “In some ways, it doesn’t really fit what we’re doing. He makes a lot of money. And, can he finish games? I don’t know. He’s very talented. The problem is: We have Draymond. Draymond and him are very similar in the sense that neither one really shoots and they do a lot of the playmaking. That’s one issue. The salary structure is another.”

According to ESPN, the 25-year-old Simmons says he does not intend to ever play another game for the 76ers franchise. As speculation surrounding Simmons’ future continues, the Warriors have been mentioned as a new home for Simmons; however, Lacob’s comments have likely hampered that prospective deal.

Take a look at Gabby Barrett’s ‘Footprints On The Moon’ music video

Gabby Barrett has released the music video for her latest single “Footprints On The Moon,” which portrays a younger version of Gabby who longs to chase her dreams. The video goes on to show Barrett pursuing her musical aspirations, and also features her husband Cade Foehner, as well as a cameo appearance from their 7-month-old, Baylah May.

Barrett explained in an interview: “I wanted to have a song on the album that was an encouraging song, just something that I would’ve liked to have heard when I was in High School or whatever the case was. It’s just an encouraging song for people to go for their dreams and really reach for the sky because the sky’s the limit. Especially if there’s footprints on the moon, literally, if somebody could walk on the moon which we never thought that would happen, you are able to work hard and achieve some great things here on Earth. So that is just an encouraging song that I wish [that] I had in high school when I was going through harder times, just really grinding it out and nobody really believed in me so I just hope it’s an encouraging song that people will gravitate towards.”

Footprints on the Moon is featured on Barrett’s debut album, ‘Goldmine.’  Take a look at the video: – here.
