Robert Plant and Alison Krauss team up for the new song ‘High and Lonesome’

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have released their new single “High and Lonesome,” a track from their forthcoming album, “Raise The Roof”, set to debut on November 19th.

The new album is Plant and Krauss’ first collaboration together in fourteen years; it was recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios beginning in late 2019 and wrapped up shortly before the pandemic lockdown.

Plant said of the album, “It’s such a far cry from everything I’ve done before. I love the whole kaleidoscope of music that I’ve explored, but this is a place where you can think within the song, you can decide how to bring home an emotion. It’s another blend that we’ve got, and long may we have more of them.” Added Krauss, “One of my favorite parts of this is the songs and songwriters that I had never heard of. Working with Robert, and with T Bone, is always a great education in music history.”

Corey Taylor confirms that new Slipknot music and album will be arriving soon

Corey Taylor has confirmed that a new Slipknot album in the works and will be releasing its first single “in the next month or so.” Back in August, Taylor revealed that he had just three songs left to record for Slipknot’s upcoming new album.  Now speaking on The Eddie Trunk Podcast, Taylor said that Slipknot’s new album is almost done and that the first single will be coming soon.

Taylor said: “It’s pretty much done. I’d say it’s probably about 80 per cent done. We’re finishing up some music [and] I’ve got a couple more songs to sing. However, I will say this: don’t be surprised if in the next month or so you hear something new.” Taylor also gave some hints about what the album’s lead single might sound like, suggesting that it is “more of a ‘let’s bludgeon everybody and remind them why we’re still Slipknot’ kind of vibe”.

As part of this year’s GalaxyCon, Taylor also discussed the status of the follow-up to 2019’s ‘We Are Not Your Kind’, which has a tentative 2022 release, sharing, “I was actually supposed to finish my vocals this week. I got screwed, man, [by the COVID diagnosis]. I actually only have really three songs left to do. I’ve done all the other tracks because I’ve been doing ’em in between tours, just f*cking hitting it.”

Kesha joins Walker Hayes for the remix video for “Fancy Like”

After enlisting Kesha as a featured guest on the remix to his viral sensation “Fancy Like”, Walker Hayes is joined by the pop star in the just-released music video for song.

Shot in Los Angeles and directed by Rehman Ali, the music video takes place in Sun Valley, California at an old-fashioned 1940s hotel called The Pink Motel and Cadillac Jack’s diner (formerly known as Pink Cafe). The clip not only features Kesha and several of her dancers, but also Hayes’ wife Laney. The clip concludes with the entire cast doing the viral “Fancy Like” dance in front of the iconic building.

Says Hayes: “This song came out of a conversation about the misconceptions that celebrities or artists live a lavish lifestyle, and it’s important for folks to know that’s not necessarily true. I’m truly about as fancy as Applebee’s on a date night, so creating a video celebrating the simple moments in life — like watching a movie or drinking box wine — was important to us. Kesha and I each bring our own versions of ‘Fancy Like’ to this, and I love how it came together.”

Taylor Swift’s ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ is # 1 on Billboard 200 for the 2nd time

Taylor Swift’s album Fearless (Taylor’s Version) has returned to the top of the Billboard 200. The album — a re-recording of original Fearless album from 2008 — jumped to No. 1 from the No. 157 spot for the week ending October 7, according to Billboard. This is the second nonconsecutive week the album has been No. 1. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) was released back in April and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart for the week ending April 24.

The surge of popularity is due to the October 1 limited release of signed Fearless (Taylor’s Version) CDs that were available only on Swift’s online store combined with the release of the album’s vinyl LP. Swift personally signed every CD sold, and tweeted that she “may never write the same again” as the experience left her hand “frozen in the permanent shape of a claw.”

Blue Origin flight that will send actor William Shatner to space is delayed until Wednesday due to weather concerns

The space travel company Blue Origin said on Sunday that the flight set to send Star Trek actor William Shatner and other crew members was delayed until Wednesday due to weather concerns.  In a tweet Sunday afternoon, Blue Origin said the launch was now scheduled to take place at 8: 30 a.m. on Wednesday, due to “forecasted winds” in West Texas on Tuesday, when the launch was originally scheduled.

Founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, the aerospace company announced last week that Shatner, who played Capt. Kirk in the Star Trek television series from 1966-1969, would be part of its New Shepard NS-18 crew. The 90-year-old Shatner will make history as the oldest person in space — a title recently given to astronaut Wally Funk during a Blue Origin spaceflight in July. Shatner will be joined on the flight by Blue Origin executive Audrey Powers and crewmates Chris Boshuizen and Glen de Vries.

Southwest Airlines cancels 1,044 flights Sunday citing air traffic control issues, ‘disruptive’ weather

Southwest Airlines canceled more than 1,000 flights on Sunday, the second consecutive day of mass cancellations from the airline. The 1,044 flights represents 28% of its scheduled operations for the day, while also reporting 714 delays as of 6 p.m. Sunday evening.

Sunday’s cancellations came after the airline canceled 808 flights on Saturday, representing about a quarter of its daily operations. In a statement Saturday, Southwest said air traffic control issues and “disruptive weather” resulted in a “high volume of cancellations.” Southwest said in a follow-up statement on Sunday: “We’ve continued diligent work throughout the weekend to reset our operation with a focus on getting aircraft and crews repositioned to take care of our customers.”

The Federal Aviation Administration said there have not been any air traffic related cancellations since Friday and that airlines are experiencing delays due to aircraft and crews being out of place. Other major airlines did not appear to be severely impacted, with American Airlines and Spirit Airlines both canceling only 2% of flights.

Southwest has instituted a vaccine mandate for employees but the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association, the union representing the company’s pilots, issued a statement saying it could “say with confidence that our pilots are not participating in any official or unofficial job actions. Our pilots will continue to overcome SWA management’s poor planning, as well as any external operational challenges and remain the most productive pilots in the world. SWAPA pilots are true professionals and will always maintain the highest level of responsibility to their crews, their passengers, and our airline.”

Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow hospitalized for a throat contusion following Cincinnati’s loss to Packers

The Cincinnati Bengals announced on Sunday that quarterback Joe Burrow was taken to a hospital following the team’s 25-22 overtime loss to the Packers after sustaining a possible throat contusion. No further update on his status was provided.

Burrow played the entire game, completing 26 of 38 pass attempts for 281 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. It is not yet known when Burrow specifically sustained the injury, but the Bengals quarterback spent time in the team’s medical tent after getting hit by several Packers defenders late in the first half. Burrow was initially hit by Packer defensive back Darnell Savage as Burrow decided to run on a third-and-12 play.

Burrow, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 draft, missed six games during his rookie year after tearing the ACL and MCL in his left knee. He underwent surgery and made a full recovery in time for the start of the 2021 season.

Cincinnati is now 3-2 after seeing their two-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday.

NY Giants’ RB Saquon Barkley, QB Daniel Jones, and WR Kenny Golladay ruled out with injuries after game against Cowboys

NY Giants running back Saquon Barkley left Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys in the first quarter, after being ruled out with an ankle injury after colliding with Cowboys defender Jourdan Lewis on an overthrow by Daniel Jones, Lewis stepped on Barkley’s foot and caused the running back to grab his ankle in pain, forcing him to hobble off the field and eventually being carted to the locker room from the sidelines. Barkley has ran for 186 yards on 52 carries with two touchdowns and 14 receptions for 130 yards with a touchdown over four games this season. He played just two games in the 2020 season after tearing his ACL.

He was later ruled out with a concussion. Lastly, WR Kenny Golladay was also ruled out on Sunday with a knee injury following halftime.

The Giants wound up with a 44-20 to Dallas on Sunday. New York are now without seven of their 11 Week 1 offensive starters: aside from Jones, Barkley, and Golladay, left tackle Andrew Thomas (foot), wide receiver Sterling Shepard (hamstring), left guard Shane Lemieux (knee) and center Nick Gates (leg) are all out of play currently.
