‘Encanto’ soundtrack spends eighth week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

The soundtrack to Disney’s “Encanto” is No 1 on the Billboard 200 for the eighth week, while the song from the film “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is No. 2 after previously holding the No. 1 spot for five consecutive weeks. The track holds the No. 1 position on the Streaming Songs chart for the ninth consecutive week.

“We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is the only song from a Disney animated or live-action film to top the Hot 100 for multiple weeks. The “Encanto” soundtrack has now spent the most weeks at the top of the albums charts since Morgan Wallen’s “Dangerous: The Double Album” did so for 10 weeks from January- March 2021.

Kodak Black‘s “Back for Everything” debuted at number-two, his highest-charting album since “Dying to Live,” which hit number-one in 2018. Rounding out the top five are past chart-toppers “Dangerous: The Double Album” by Morgan Wallen at #3, “DS4Ever” by Gunna at #4, and The Weeknd‘s best-of compilation “The Highlights” at #5.

BMW recalls more than 900,000 vehicles over engine fire risk

German car manufacturer BMW announced Wednesday that they are recalling more than 900,000 vehicles to fix a problem that could start a fire in the engine because the heater for the positive crank case ventilation valve may short circuit.

The recall applies to 917,000 cars and SUVs in the United States. It applies to a number of different models, between the 2006 and 2013 model years, including several X5, X3, Z4, 3 Series, 5 Series and 1 Series.

This is the third recall for many of the vehicles over the same engine ventilation issue. BMW issued recalls for the same part in 2017 and 2019 and then expanded the recall to include 2012 and 2013 models. Documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show BMW expects around 1% of the recalled vehicles to have a problem.

BMW said it will begin notifying affected owners in April, and that anyone with one of the models in question can enter the Vehicle Identification Number online to see if the recall is applicable.

Ukraine children’s hospital destroyed by Russian bombs in Mariupoc

A maternity and children’s hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol has been destroyed by Russian air strikes, officials say. Regional Gov. Pavlo Kyrylenko said that at least 17 people were wounded, including women in labor. Russia’s bombing of the maternity hospital again prompted Ukraine’s leader to again demand the world help. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky took to Twitter to rebuke Western allies’ refusal to institute a no-fly zone over the area to combat Russian fighter jets, saying:  “People, children are under the wreckage. Atrocity! How much longer will the world be an accomplice ignoring terror? Close the sky right now! Stop the killings! You have power but you seem to be losing humanity”

Police and soldiers rushed to the scene to evacuate victim from the hospital at the coastal city of Mariupol — where bodies are piling up so fast that locals have begun burying them in mass graves.  Regional police official, Volodymir Nikulin, said of the bombing: “Today Russia committed a huge crime. It is a war crime without any justification.”    The airstrike occurred during what was supposed to be a regional cease-fire in the already “apocalyptic’’ city to allow safe evacuations of thousands of innocent residents. However, Russian troops have repeatedly violated their pledge to stop attacks along the safety corridors, and local officials in Mariupol are now using mass graves to bury some of the thousands they say have been killed in “pure genocide.’’

While Ukraine insisted that Russian forces deliberately targeted the hospital, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov claimed Wednesday, “Russian forces do not fire on civilian targets.”  However when asked about the issue at a separate briefing, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said, “Obviously that’s a horrific outcome. regardless of whether it was intentional or not. If it’s true — we have no reason to doubt that it’s true — we just can’t independently verify, it’s just another indicator of the supreme sacrifices that the Ukrainian people are making that they shouldn’t have to make. We’re talking, you know, families, children, killed, wounded, displaced, all of it, all of it avoidable. All of it completely avoidable.”

NBA suspends Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis for referee contact

The NBA announced on Wednesday it has issued a one-game suspension on Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis for “aggressively confronting and making contact with a game official.”  The suspension is without pay.

The incident occurred with 4:35 remaining in the Kings’ 131-115 loss to the New York Knicks on Monday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. Knicks guard Immanuel Quickley drove toward the basket, when a nearby official whistled Sabonis for a foul as Quickley threw up a shot and fell to the floor. Sabonis then approached the official and pushed him with his body. He was given a technical foul and ejected for his actions.

NBA president of league operations Byron Spruell said in a news release, saying:  “The incident began with Sabonis receiving a technical foul for an unsportsmanlike reaction to a called foul. Sabonis then reacted demonstratively again in the vicinity of the game official, and approached and bumped the official in a hostile manner, resulting in a second technical foul and an ejection.”

Sabonis, 25, joined the team in a February trade from the Indiana Pacers; he was an All-Star in 2019 and 2020 with the Pacers, and entered the league as the No. 11 overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-11 forward/center  is averaging 17.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game through 25 appearances this season with the Kings.  He is signed with the Kings through 2023-24.

Indianapolis Colts trade QB Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders

As first reported  by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Washington Commanders have agreed to acquire quarterback Carson Wentz in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.  The Colts will get two third-round picks from Washington in return and the teams are set to swap second-round picks in this year’s draft as part of the deal. The trade cannot be finalized until the new league year begins March 16.

Wentz is now set to play for his third team in as many seasons. He just completed his first season with the Colts after being traded prior to the 2021 campaign to Indianapolis from the Philadelphia Eagles, where he played the first five years of his career. Last year, Wentz completed 62.4 percent of his passes for 3,563 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He led the Colts to a 9-8 record, but had one of his worst games of the season in a Week 18 loss to the Jaguars that eliminated Indianapolis from playoff contention

Washington was looking to upgrade its play at quarterback after going 7-10 behind Taylor Heinicke. Heinicke posted a 7-8 record in his 15 starts and a passer rating of 85.9 in 16 games.
