Brooklyn Nets announce Ben Simmons will miss rest of regular season and Play-In Tournament

Brooklyn Nets coach Steve Nash said Ben Simmons will miss the rest of the regular season and the Play-In Tournament. Simmons has been out with a back injury, but had been participating in practice recently.

The Nets acquired the 25-year-old Simmons in February in the trade that sent James Harden to the 76ers.  However, he has not played this season after informing the 76ers in October that he was not mentally ready to play again for the franchise and needed time to work on himself.

The Nets (40-38) are 10th in the Eastern Conference and can potentially play at Charlotte (40-38) in the Play-In. The Nets need to win two games to capture the eighth seed, and are currently one game behind Atlanta for eighth and 2 1/2 behind Cleveland with four games left in the regular season.

Sex Pistols limited series ‘Pistol’ coming to Hulu in May

Danny Boyle’s Pistol, the FX limited series about the Sex Pistols, will make its streaming premiere on May 31, exclusively on Hulu in the U.S.

Pistol is centered around Sex Pistols guitarist Steve Jones, and is based from the founding member’s 2017 memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol.  An official description of the series reads: “This is the story of a band of spotty, noisy, working-class kids with ‘no future,’ who shook the boring, corrupt Establishment to its core, threatened to bring down the government and changed music and culture forever.”

Pistol stars Toby Wallace as Jones, rounding out the band with Anson Boon as Johnny Rotten, Louis Partridge as Sid Vicious, Jacob Slater as Paul Cook, and Christian Lees as Glen Matlock.

Pistol received heavy pushback from Johnny Rotten — aka John Lydon — who referred to the series as “the most disrespectful sh** I’ve ever had to endure” and threatened legal action against what he considered to be an unauthorized series in an interview with The Sunday Times.

64th Annual Grammy Awards: See the full list of 2022 winners

The 64th annual Grammy Awards were held on Sunday, hosted by Trevor Noah and airing live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on CBS.

Among the night’s big winners were Jon Batiste, who took home Album of the Year for We Are. Olivia Rodrigo took home Best Pop Vocal Album for Sour, and also won Best New Artist.  Silk Sonic, comprised of Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak, won Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Leave the Door Open.

Doja Cat and SZA won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit song “Kiss Me More,” while Jazmine Sullivan won Best R&B Album for Heaux Tales and Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar’s “Family Ties” won Best Rap Performance. Chris Stapleton also won Best Country album for Starting Over.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed viewers at home in a pre-recorded video, where he spoke about Russia invading his country and the ongoing conflict, saying in part: “Our musicians wear body armor instead of tuxedos. They sing to the wounded. In hospitals. Even to those who can’t heart them. But the music will break through anyway. We defend our freedom. To live. To love. To sound. Our land, we are fighting Russia, which brings horrible silence with its bombs. The dead silence. Fill the silence with your music! Fill it today. To tell our story. Tell the truth about this war on your social networks, on TV. Support us in any way you can. Any, but not silence, and peace will come.”

Respects were paid to the late Taylor Hawkins, drummer of the Foo Fighters, who died on March 25. Foo Fighters were supposed to perform during the show, but canceled because of Hawkins’ recent death. A video was shown highlighting Hawkins’ career before the Grammys launched into its annual In Memorial segment, which paid homage to all of those in the music industry who have died over the past year, including Dusty Hill of ZZ Top, DMX, Biz Markie, Stephen Sondheim and more.
