Alex Jones admits in court that the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School was ‘100% real’

Infowars owner and host Alex Jones admitted on Wednesday that the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut did occur.  Jones said Wednesday: “Especially since I’ve met the parents. It’s 100% real.”

Jones made the admission during the civil trial that will determine how much the conspiracy theorist owes in defamation damages to the parents of the 2012 Sandy Hook mass shooting. Until Wednesday, Jones had steadfastly claimed that the event was a staged government conspiracy meant to take away Americans’ guns.

The parents of 6-year-old Jesse Lewis, one of the 26 first- grade students and teachers killed in the shooting, are seeking $150 million in damages after Jones repeatedly described the shooting as a “giant hoax” involving government-employed “crisis actors.” During cross-examination, the attorney representing Jesse Lewis’ parents, Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, told the courtroom that Jones’ lawyer sent him an “entire digital copy” of Jones’ cellphone “with every text message you’ve sent for the past two years” over a week ago. The phone also contained financial information pertaining to Jones’ media company that he didn’t turn over during deposition.

Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski and three others die in Indiana car crash

Indiana Rep. Jackie Walorski died Wednesday in a car crash in her home district, her office announced. She was 58.  The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office said that Walorski was riding in an SUV with Emma Thomson, 28, a member of her staff, and Zach Potts, 27, chairman of the St. Joseph County Republican Party when another vehicle struck them head-on. Thomson, Potts and the driver of the other vehicle, Edith Schmucker, 56, also died of their injuries.

Walorski’s office confirmed the news in a post on her Twitter account: “Dean Swihart, Jackie’s husband, was just informed by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s office that Jackie was killed in a car accident this afternoon. She has returned home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers.”

President Joe Biden ordered flags to be flown at half-staff Wednesday and Thursday. Biden said: “We may have represented different parties and disagreed on many issues, but she was respected by members of both parties for her work on the House Ways and Means Committee on which she served. We send our deepest condolences to her husband, Dean, to the families of her staff members, Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, who lost their lives in public service, and to the people of Indiana’s Second District who lost a representative who was one of their own.”

Walorski represented Indiana in Congress since 2013. Before being elected to U.S. Congress in 2012, she served as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 2005 to 2010. In the U.S. House, she was the ranking member of the House ethics committee and held positions on the ways and means, armed services, budget, Veterans Affairs, and coronavirus crisis committees. She belonged to the Veterinary Medicine, U.S.-Japan and Republican Study caucuses.

Walorski is survived by her husband, Dean Swihart.

NFL appeals Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson 6-game suspension, seeks minimum 1-year ban

The NFL announced on Wednesday that it will appeal the six-game suspension given to Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson. The league is seeking an indefinite suspension that would last a minimum of one year. According to a statement from the league, commissioner Roger Goodell will determine who will hear the appeal.

The NFL notified the NFLPA that it will appeal the disciplinary decision made by Judge Sue L. Robinson, the independent disciplinary officer jointly appointed by the NFL and NFLPA. On Monday, Robinson issued the multi-game ban, which was linked to sexual misconduct allegations made against the Cleveland Browns quarterback. The league and players union, which appointed Robinson to settle the disciplinary dispute, had until Thursday to appeal the ruling.

In its statement on Wednesday, the NFL cited its 2020 collective bargaining agreement, which does not allow Robinson’s “factual findings” to be appealed, but does allow the discipline imposed to be appealed.  The league said: “The NFL notified the NFLPA [players union] that it will appeal Judge Robinson’s disciplinary decision and filed its brief this afternoon. Commissioner Roger Goodell will determine who will hear the appeal.”

Watson has faced accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct from more than two dozen women through civil lawsuits, based on alleged encounters occurring between March 2020 and March 2021, when Watson was the starting quarterback of the Houston Texans. Watson has denied criminal wrongdoing and two grand juries in Texas declined to indict him earlier this year, and Watson settled 20 of the lawsuits he faced in June.

Watson did not play at all last season for the Texans amid the allegations, and was traded to the Browns in March after signing a five-year, $230 million contract.

Linebacker Anthony Barr and the Dallas Cowboys agree to 1-year contract worth $3M

The Dallas Cowboys and four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Anthony Barr agreed to a one-year deal Wednesday, worth $3M.

The 32-year-old Barr has spent the entirety of his career in Minnesota; he was a first-round pick by Minnesota in 2014 and a Pro Bowler every year from 2015-18.  Barr had a career-high three interceptions along with 2 1/2 sacks and 72 tackles last season.

Barr verbally agreed to a deal with the New York Jets in 2019 that would have paid him $15 million per season for five years, but he returned to the Vikings less than 24 hours later to sign for far less money. The linebacker has 495 tackles, 17.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and 5 interceptions in eight seasons.

HBO Max’s $90 Million DC Film ‘Batgirl’ starring Leslie Grace has been shelved

The DC film Batgirl, which was scheduled to be released on HBO Max later this year, has been shelved. Warner Bros. Discovery announced they will no longer be releasing the film, starring Leslie Grace in the title role.  Batgirl was directed by ‘Bad Boys for Life’ filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah.

The announcement comes after the project, which costs nearly $90 million to make due to COVID-19 protocols, had already completed shooting. Grace, 27, was set to make her return to the big screen as Batgirl after her breakthrough role in the movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning musical In The Heights. Michael Keaton was also set to return to his Batman role, and the Batgirl cast also included Brendan Fraser as villain Firefly, and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

Insiders say that Warner Bros. CEO David Zaslav believed Batgirl “simply did not work,” adding that the decision had nothing to do with the cast or directors.  It is also rumored that Warner Bros. made the decision on Batgirl due to its desire to refocus on theatrical releases rather than creating movies for HBO Max.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend expecting ‘rainbow baby’ after suffering pregnancy loss

Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend are expecting a rainbow baby after suffering a pregnancy loss nearly two years ago. Teigen and Legend also share 6-year-old Luna Simone, and 4-year-old Miles Theodore.

The 36-year-old Teigen announced the happy news on Instagram, sharing her IVF journey to get pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, alongside photos of her baby bump. Teigen’s post read: “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again. 1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way. Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. Ok phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”

Nearly two years ago, Teigen announced that she and Legend had experienced the loss of their third child, Jack, in September 2020 during her pregnancy.  Teigen announced at the time on Instagram: “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever. To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.”

Teigen shared on Instagram in February 2022 that she and Legend, 43, were undergoing in vitro fertilization to try and conceive again after the loss of Jack: I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos.”

Beyoncé removes Kelis sample from Renaissance track “Energy” following criticism

Beyoncé has removed the sample of Kelis‘ 2003 hit “Milkshake” from her Renaissance track “Energy” on Tidal and Apple. Kelis had called out Bey and The Neptunes for allegedly failing to seek permission to use the sample.

Kelis’ “Milkshake,” written by The Neptunes’ Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, has only the production duo are credited as songwriters. Upon hearing Energy, Kelis aired her grievances via Instagram. Kelis commented: “My mind is blown too because the level of disrespect and utter ignorance of all 3 parties involved is astounding .”  She noted that she found out about the interpolation “the same way everyone else did,” suggesting that she had not gotten a heads up beforehand.

Kelis clearly stated she wasn’t mad about the lift itself, but pointed out that she and Bey have met, know each other and have mutual friends.  She said: “not only are we Black female artists in an industry where there’s not many of us. It’s not hard. She can contact, right?”
