Queen releases previously unheard song ‘Face It Alone’ featuring the late Freddie Mercury

Legendary British rock band Queen released a lyric video Thursday for a previously unheard song featuring late lead singer Freddie Mercury, titled “Face it Alone”.  The song is the band’s first new track with the late frontman’s vocals to be released in more than eight years.

Band members Brian May and Roger Taylor first revealed the song’s existence during a BBC interview over the summer, with Taylor calling it “a little gem from Freddie that we’d kind of forgotten about,” while May said: “it’s beautiful. it’s touching.”

“Face it Alone” was recorded in 1988 during sessions for the band’s chart-topping album “The Miracle” but it did not make it to release. “The Miracle,” Queen’s 13th studio album, came out two years before Mercury died from AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991 at the age of 45.

“Face It Alone” will be included on Queen’s The Miracle Collector’s Edition album, which goes on sale Nov. 18. The upcoming reissue, released as an eight-disc collector’s edition box set, will feature six unpublished songs as well as dialog between the band – Mercury, May, Taylor and bassist John Deacon – while in the studio.
