Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo to join PINK on her newly-announced 2023 stadium tour

Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo will be joining PINK as special guests on select shows of her newly-announced ‘Summer Carnival’ stadium tour.

The tour will kick off on July 24 in Toronto, with Brandi Carlile first serving as the supporting act. A week later on July 31, Benatar and Giraldo will join the tour and perform at Boston’s Fenway Park, and will then appear on five more tour dates: Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee and Los Angeles.

Pink and Carlile were on hand when Benatar and Giraldo were recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Married since 1982, Benatar and Giraldo shared their gratitude for the honor. Said Benatar to Giraldo: “you — my partner, my love. Forty-three years ago in a rehearsal studio in New York — could you have imagined this night tonight? We probably would have done it separately on our own, in our own way, but it never would have been this much fun.”

Tickets for Pink’s “Summer Carnival” tour will go on sale Nov. 21 at LiveNation.com.

1 killed, one wounded in shooting at Orlando high school football game

Police confirmed that one person was killed and one was injured in a shooting during a Florida high school football playoff game Saturday in Orlando, Florida. Witnesses told authorities gunshots were heard in the parking lot of Jones High School, located near Camping World Stadium.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith told reporters: “There were two different groups, two different people at the event and got into whatever altercation they did. It’s part of our investigation to find out exactly what happened. We know shots rang out, two people were hit and fell.”

Smith said that both of the people involved are adults, adding that one died in the shooting while the other was taken to a hospital. Four juveniles have been taken into custody and police are still trying to identify the shooters.

Jones football coach Elijah Williams told the Orlando Sentinel: “It’s just an unfortunate situation… It’s real senseless. At that point we just wanted to keep both teams safe, our kids safe.”

Death toll rises to 6 after mid-air plane crash at air show in Dallas

Officials said on Sunday that the death toll has risen to six after a mid-air plane crash at an air show in Dallas.  Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a statement: “According to our Dallas County Medical Examiner, there are a total of 6 fatalities from yesterday’s Wings over Dallas air show incident. Authorities will continue working today on the investigation and identification of the deceased. Please pray for their families and all involved.”

The two aircraft were both vintage collections from the Commemorative Air Force and were part of an air show that was being held at Dallas Executive Airport. Details of the crash (caught on video) remain unknown. The B-17, nicknamed “Texas Raiders,” was one of about 45 complete surviving examples of the model, only nine of which were airworthy. The other aircraft was a P-63 which was even more rare. Only 14 are known to have survived.

Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson tweeted, “As many of you have now seen, we have had a terrible tragedy in our city today during an airshow. Many details remain unknown or unconfirmed at this time. The @NTSB has taken command of the crash scene with @DallasPD and @DallasFireRes_q continuing to provide support. The videos are heartbreaking. Please, say a prayer for the souls who took to the sky to entertain and educate our families today.”

The Allied Pilots Association said in a statement that two of the victims were former members and identified them as Terry Barker and Len Root: “We are saddened to report that former APA members CA Terry Barker and CA Len Root were among the crew members lost on B-17 Flying Fortress during the Wings Over Dallas airshow today. Our hearts go out to their families, friends, and colleagues past and present.”

Chiefs’ WR JuJu Smith-Schuster enters concussion protocol after head injury

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster left the team’s Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the second quarter after taking a hard hit to the head, resulting in a head injury.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw to Smith-Schuster in the middle of the field, when Jaguars safety Andre Cisco smashed his helmet into Smith-Schuster’s helmet. Smith-Schuster immediately went down and remained on the ground not moving for more than five minutes, with his hands held in front of his face in what appeared to be the fencing response that often occurs after a head injury.

After being examined by the team’s medical staff, trainers assisted Smith-Schuster to walk off the field and into the locker room. Officials threw a flag but then picked it up, ruling that there was no foul on the play. The Chiefs announced shortly thereafter that he had entered concussion protocol and would not return to the game.

Smith-Schuster had two catches for 33 yards on the day prior to his departure. The sixth-year pro has 46 receptions for 615 yards and two touchdowns in his first season with the Chiefs.

Margo Price debuts her new single, “Lydia”

Margo Price is sharing her latest song, titled “Lydia.”  Price said in a statement: “I wrote ‘Lydia’ in one sitting in a tiny hotel room after walking around the city of Vancouver one day,” I was jet lagged and feeling really depressed, hopeless, but instead of taking a nap, I picked up the guitar and the words just flowed out all in one quick moment. I hit record on my phone to make a demo and sort of blacked out or went into this meditative state, and boom — eight minutes later, I had this song. It’s one of the only songs I’ve ever written that doesn’t have any real melody or even rhyme, but somehow it still works. Songs like that are rare and don’t come often.”

Price added, “It was inspired by a cacophony of things. There was a women’s health clinic and a methadone clinic with a needle exchange right outside of our venue. I was looking into the eyes of the people I passed and thinking about their stories and really being a conduit for pain. The song feels like a premonition now, with women’s rights being stripped and all the abortion bans happening. When I listen back, I hear what might go through a woman’s mind when she has a difficult decision to make about her body, her choices and her future.”

“Lydia” appears on Price’s upcoming album Strays, due out January 13th.  She is also in the midst of a book tour for her memoir Maybe We’ll Make It. For tickets to all of Price’s upcoming tour dates, head to Ticketmaster.

You can listen to a live performance of ‘Lydia’ here.  The video was shot at Nashville’s Downtown Presbyterian Church and backed by a string quartet of Chauntee Ross, Nicole Neely, Kristin Weber, and leader Larissa Maestro,
