Buccaneers WR Russell Gage hospitalized for further testing after concussion diagnosis

Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Tuesday that wide receiver Russell Gage, who was hospitalized with a concussion and neck injury, has movement in his exterminates but will undergo additional testing. Gage, a five-year veteran, sustained the injuries in the fourth quarter of the Buccaneers’ 31-14 wild-card round loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday in Tampa, Fla.

Gage was running a route before he was hit from behind by Cowboys safety Donovan Wilson; he stayed on the ground until the Buccaneers medical staff ran onto the field. Players from both teams then surrounded Gage before he was placed on a stretcher and taken to the Tampa-area hospital. Gage totaled two catches for 10 yards in the loss.

The Buccaneers said in a release: “After suffering a neck injury and concussion during the fourth quarter of last night’s game, Russell was taken to a local hospital where he remained overnight for additional testing and observation. Russell has had movement in all extremities and will continue to undergo additional testing today. We will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

Gage has logged 51 catches for 426 yards and a career-high five touchdowns in 13 regular-season games. The Cowboys will face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC divisional round at 6:30 p.m. EST Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif.

Jake Paul vs. Tommy Fury boxing matchup set for February 25

Jake Paul and Tommy Fury have reportedly agreed to terms on a boxing match, after two failed attempts. According to combat sports insider Ariel Helwani, Paul vs. Fury is a “done deal” for Feb. 25. Paul vs. Fury was first scheduled for Dec. 19, 2021, but it was called off due to Fury’s broken rib and bacterial chest infection. A match was set again between the two for August 6, 2022, but Fury’s travel visa into the United States was denied, so it was canceled.

Paul, who rose in fame as a YouTuber, broke into boxing in 2020 with a win over fellow social media personality AnEsonGib. Since then, Paul has remained undefeated in 5 matches. Paul defeated former NBA guard Nate Robinson, and claimed victory over former UFC fighters Ben Askren and Tyron Woodley, the latter of whom he took down twice. In October, Paul beat an MMA legend in Anderson Silva by unanimous decision, bringing his career record to 6-0.

Meanwhile, Fury — the younger brother of world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury — also holds a perfect record in pro boxing. The younger Fury is 8-0 with four wins by knockout. It has been nearly one year since he last fought, in a decision win over Daniel Bocianski in London in April 2022.

A location for the Paul vs. Fury hasn’t yet been confirmed, though it is likely to take place in England, provided Fury is still having visa issues. Back in November, Paul tweeted at Fury’s promoter, Frank Warren, saying he would fight Fury in London or Manchester in February. Paul also laid down a deadline at the time, saying he wanted a signed contract within seven days or else he would move on to another potential opponent.

Lisa Marie Presley will be honored with a public service at her father Elvis Presley’s Graceland home. Lisa Marie died Thursday after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital for a possible cardiac arrest. She was 54.  Almost a week before her death, Lisa Marie spent time at Graceland celebrating what would have been Elvis’ 88th birthday.

A representative for Presley’s daughter Riley Keough said in a statement: “Riley, Harper, Finley, and Priscilla are grateful for the support, well-wishes, and outpouring of love honoring their beloved Lisa Marie. A public memorial service has been arranged on the front lawn of Graceland at 9:00 am on Sunday, January 22 in Memphis. Please visit [the official Graceland website] for more information.””

Lisa Marie is survived by her mother, Priscilla Presley, 77; and her three daughters, Riley, 33, and twins Finley and Harper Lockwood, 14. Lisa Marie was preceded in death by her son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide at age 27 in 2020. According to Riley’s representative, Lisa Marie’s final resting place will be at Graceland next to her son Benjamin.  Lisa Marie will join her son at the Meditation Garden, which is also the final resting place of Elvis, Elvis’ mother Gladys Presley, Elvis’ father Vernon Presley and Elvis’ grandmother Minnie Mae Presley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all who wish to send something to donate to The Elvis Presley Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit which offers support to organizations focusing on the arts, education and children’s programs in the Memphis and Whitehaven area.

Madonna announces 40th anniversary ‘Celebration Tour’

Madonna plans to celebrate her 40th anniversary with the announcement of the Celebration Tour, her first retrospective concert tour. Said Madonna: “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for.” The Celebration Tour is Madonna’s first since her 2019-2020 run of shows in support of her album Madame X.  The tour was hampered by Madonna’s back injury that forced several cancellations, and their set lists were dominated by 11 or 12 songs nightly from the album and only a handful of tracks from her earlier classic releases.

The Celebration Tour announcement came via a nearly five-minute video shared to Madonna’s social accounts, where she is seen paying tribute to her 1991 ‘Blond Ambition’ World Tour documentary Truth or Dare. The announcement comes at the end of the video, which features Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Kate Berlant, Eric Andre, Bob the Drag Queen, Larry Owens and Meg Stalter around a table playing the game ‘Truth or Dare.’

Rihanna shares behind-the-scenes look at the making of ‘Lift Me Up’

Rihanna is sharing in a behind-the-scenes video the making of her hit song “Lift Me Up” from the soundtrack to “Wakanda Forever.” Rihanna is seen in her recording studio listening to the finished song for the first time with filmmaker Ryan Coogler, composer Ludwig Göransson and Roc Nation CEO Jay Brown.

“Lift Me Up,” which plays over the end credits of “Wakanda Forever,” was co-written by Göransson, Tems, Rihanna and Coogler. The idea for the song stemmed from a trip Göransson and Coogler took when they went to Lagos; Göransson had a musical idea and asked Coogler to write some lyrics, and a few months later Rihanna and Tems added their vocals to the track. The song was recorded as a tribute to celebrate the legacy of actor Chadwick Boseman, who played King T’Challa in the original “Black Panther.” Boseman died of colon cancer in 2020 at the age of 43.

The song also marked a return to music for Rihanna after a six-year hiatus, with her own Westbury Road label releasing the track in partnership with Roc Nation, Def Jam Recordings and Hollywood Records.

Listen to Peter Gabriel’s new song “Panopticom”

Peter Gabriel has released “Panopticom,” the lead track from i/o, his first album of original material since 2002. The song features contributions from familiar names such as bassist Tony Levin, drummer Manu Katché, and guitarist David Rhodes, as well as “electronics” from Brian Eno and backing vocals from the Breath’s Ríoghnach Connolly. No release date for i/o has been confirmed, but Gabriel says “the lunar phases will guide the release plan in 2023, with a new song revealed each full moon.” Each will be accompanied by its own artwork, with Panopticom featuring a cover image by David Spriggs.

In a press release, Gabriel said about “Panopticom”: The first song is based on an idea I have been working on to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe: the Panopticom. We are beginning to connect a like-minded group of people who might be able to bring this to life, to allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what’s really going on.  Gabriel said the song’s name mirrors that of an idea he’s been working on “to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe. We are beginning to connect a like-minded group of people who might be able to bring this to life — to allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what’s really going on.”

Gabriel will begin his first European tour in nine years on May 18 in Krakow, with North American stops to be announced for late summer and fall.
