Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce to return for 13th season

Philadelphia Eagles All-Pro center Jason Kelce announced on social media he’ll be returning to the Eagles for another season, ending all rumors that he would be retiring. Kelce said on Twitter: “I have put much thought into whether it makes sense to play another season. After talking it over with my wife and many other friends and family, I have decided to return for another year. Thank you to all my supporters and detractors for fueling me, I ain’t f—ing done yet!”

The 35-year-old Kelce has five first-team All-Pro selections at center, all of which have came in the past six years. Kelce allowed zero sacks on 619 pass block snaps and his 1.3% pressure rate allowed was the third lowest in the NFL.

The elder of the Kelce brothers is one of just eight centers to earn five First Team All-Pro selections, and the previous seven each have made the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Kelce is one of five players in Eagles history to earn at least First Team All-Pro honors five times, along with Chuck Bednarik, Reggie White, Pete Pihos and Steve Van Buren.

Carrie Underwood surprises with new song ‘Out Of That Truck’

Carrie Underwood celebrated her 40th birthday last week by dropping the surprise new song, “Out Of That Truck,” which she co-wrote with David Garcia and Lydia Vaughn.

Carrie says of the song on social media: “It’s not an aggressive song at all, so it’s like, we didn’t wanna push it there, but just wanted it to move and have some energy. I have an affinity for guitars, so it was just kind of one of those wanting it to take you somewhere and sing along with it. It’s just kind of a cool vibe, kind of looking at doing a country truck song in a different kind of way, just wanted it to be moving and kind of a bit of a tempo song.”

“Out Of That Truck” is Carrie’s first new music since the release of her 2022 album, Denim & Rhinestones, which includes her current single, “Hate My Heart.”

Several dates on Bruce Springsteen tour are postponed due to illness

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed their third concert date in a week, citing illness as the reason. Details remained vague in the tweets which announced the news, and did not specify who was ill or what kind of illness was involved. Over the weekend, E Street Band member Little Steven Van Zandt posted a message about the concert postponements on Twitter: “No need to be anxious or afraid. Nothing serious. Just a temporary situation. We will all be back in full force very soon.”

“The Boss” was forced to postpone his planned performance Tuesday in Albany, NY. He also postponed
a date last Thursday in Columbus, Ohio, and a scheduled concert Sunday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The postponements come a month into Springsteen’s first tour in six years. The latest tweet read: “Due to illness, Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band’s concert at MVP Arena in Albany on Tuesday, March 14 has been postponed. We are working on rescheduling the date so please hold on to your tickets as they will be valid for the rescheduled show.”

The 73-year-old Springsteen kicked off his tour on Feb. 1 in Tampa, Florida before 20,000 fans.  The Asbury Park Press reported last month that E Street Band members Van Zandt and Soozie Tyrell missed a Feb. 10 show in Dallas due to COVID-19.  Van Zandt tweeted at the time he had “a very mild case .. with no real danger or damage” and returned to the tour soon after.

Guitarist Nita Strauss rejoins Alice Cooper for 2023 shows

Guitarist Nita Strauss is rejoining Alice Cooper on the road for his 2023 shows. Cooper announced in a statement: “She’s back!  Nita asked for a leave of absence to work with someone else, something I always encourage my band members to do. I like them to challenge themselves and try new things.” Cooper recruited ex-guitarist Kane Roberts to fill in for Strauss on his fall 2022 tour.  Said Cooper: “I’m thankful to my old friend Kane Roberts for stepping up and filling in for her, but she’ll be back with us for the new tour that starts up in late April. It’s going to be great to have her back.”

Strauss joined Cooper’s touring band in 2014. She announced last July that she would not be joining Cooper on his fall trek, revealing she had joined Demi Lovato’s live touring band.  Strauss insisted that her exit wasn’t permanent, and she hoped to be playing again with Cooper in 2023 if their schedules aligned. Strauss said in her statement: “From the studio to the stage, it’s always an immense honor to make music with Alice Cooper! I’m very excited to be rejoining the band on the road for the 2023 dates, and so I’ll see you on the road in April. Let the nightmare return!”

Cooper will be kicking off a monthlong headlining run in late April, and will serve as support on a half-dozen U.S. stadium shows in August for Motley Crue and Def Leppard before joining the Freaks on Parade co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie.

Rihanna took the stage to sing her Oscar-nominated song “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” at the 95th annual Academy Awards show on Sunday at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Danai Gurira, who played Okoye in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, introduced Rihanna as “royalty in her own right.”  Said Gurira: “Ludwig Göransson, Ryan Coogler, Tems and Rihanna wrote a ballad that speaks from the heart as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick’s powerful artistry, his magnetism and incomparable humanity left an indelible mark on our hearts. Chadwick embodied the Wakandan king T’Challa.”

The 35-year-old Rihanna, wearing a Maison Margiela Artisanal ensemble custom made for her by John Galliano for Maison Margiela, gave an emotional performance which earned a standing ovation from the audience (including from her boyfriend A$AP Rocky). “Lift Me Up” was nominated for original song, up against “Applause” from “Tell It Like a Woman”, “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick”, “This Is a Life” from “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR.” The award ultimately went to “RRR.”
