3 Doors Down shares previously unseen video for ‘When I’m Gone’

3 Doors Down is commemorating the 20th anniversary of their sophomore album, Away From The Sun, by sharing the original video for “When I’m Gone,” which has been in the band’s archives for the last two decades.  You can check out the video – here.

Away From The Sun spawned four singles, including the title track, “When I’m Gone,” “The Road I’m On,” and “Here Without You,” which reached No. 5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified 6x platinum in the US. The lead single, “When I’m Gone,” peaked at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent seventeen weeks on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, becoming one of the longest-running number-one singles.

Directed by Marc Klasfeld, the visual takes viewers on a journey through a funeral procession and burial ceremony, paired with the band’s live performance that leads to an unexpected twist. Sharing his experience of filming the video, lead singer Brad Arnold recalled: “It was a wild experience shooting the original video for “When I’m Gone,” The most intense and unforgettable part was being buried above my head not once, but three times. Although we faced numerous challenges while making that video, nothing could compare to the overwhelming feeling we experienced the first time we saw the military version. What started as a military tour became something extraordinary we’ll always treasure. But, it was meant to be.”

Special guest Candlebox will join 3 Doors Down on the “Away From The Sun” 30th Anniversary Tour, expected to be the band’s last U.S. tour.

Elevated portion of I-95 collapses in Philadelphia after tanker truck fire

Officials said on Sunday morning that a tanker truck fire forced the closure of a section of Interstate Highway 95 in northeast Philadelphia after an elevated portion of the roadway collapsed. The Philadelphia Fire Department said in a statement that firefighters responded to the scene near the Cottman Avenue exit in northeast Philadelphia around 6:30 a.m. and were able to get the blaze under control within an hour.

The collapse was caused by a tanker truck fire burning under an on-ramp. Officials told the local station that they are unsure what kind of truck it is and that they have been unable to search for a driver inside. Runoff from fuel or gas lines from the burning truck has also caused explosions underground, with a video posted on social media early Sunday appearing to show plumes of black smoke rising above the highway.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted to avoid the area and plan for alternate travel routes, and thanked first responders for their work. Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro added in a tweet he has been briefed by officials and that first responders and transportation officials were on the scene. and that he and Lt. Gov. Austin Davis were “closely coordinating” with officials in the state, throughout New Jersey and in the federal government.

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg tweeted he was closely monitoring the situation: “I’ve been in touch with [the Federal Highway Administration] and spoke with Gov. Shapiro to offer any assistance that USDOT can provide to help with recovery and reconstruction.” The National Transportation Safety Board was also monitoring the situation and gathering information.

Novak Djokovic wins record 23rd Grand Slam with victory at French Open

36-year-old Serbian Novak Djokovic defeated Casper Ruud at the French Open final on Sunday with a 7-6 (1), 6-3, 7-5 victory, winning a record 23rd Grand Slam title in Paris. Djokovic earned $2.4 million for the victory.

Djokovic broke a tie with Spanish rival Rafael Nadal for the most major singles trophies in the history of men’s tennis, which dates to the 1800s. Nadal, a 14-time champion at Roland Garros, missed this year’s tournament due to injury. Djokovic said: “Every single player dreams of being on this stage and winning the trophy at least once in their career. I am beyond fortunate in my life to win 23 Grand Slams. It’s an incredible feeling.”  Said Ruud: Another day he rewrites tennis history, again. It’s tough to explain how incredible it is and how good he is.”

Djokovic earned French Open titled in 2016 and 2021, making him the only man with at least three from each major event. Since collecting his first Slam trophy at the 2008 Australian Open (which he has won 10 times), he’s earned seven titles at Wimbledon, and three at the U.S. Open. Djokovic also ties Serena Williams for the second-most Grand Slam singles titles in tennis history (Margaret Court still owns the overall record, with 24 crowns).

Djokovic now reclaims the top spot in the ATP singles rankings on Monday, while Ruud is expected to stay at No. 4. Wimbledon 2023 is the next Grand Slam schedule, taking place from July 3-16 at the All England Law Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
