Pittsburgh Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen reaches 2,000 career hits

The Pittsburgh Pirates’ Andrew McCutchen reached a major milestone on Sunday, earning his 2,000th career hit against the New York Mets at PNC Park. McCutchen reached his 2,000th hit in the bottom of the first inning off Mets’ pitcher Carlos Carrasco.

McCutchen returned to Pittsburgh this offseason after signing a one-year, $5 million deal, after leaving the Pirates back in 2017 to join the San Francisco Giants in 2018. He also played for the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies, and in 2022, joined the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ironically, McCutchen’s 2,000th MLB hit occurred against the same team he recorded his first Major League hit – the New York Mets. On June 4, 2009, McCutchen faced Mike Pelfry in the bottom of the first inning for his first at-bat of his career at PNC Park, and the rest is history. The Pirates would go on to beat the Mets 11-6 that day.

Jimmie Allen dropped from label after being sued for sexual assault by second woman

Jimmie Allen has been sued for sexual assault by a second woman. According to Variety, the suit was filed Friday, June 9th in Tennessee federal court and identifies the new accuser as ‘Jane Doe 2,’ who is is suing Allen for battery, assault, invasion of privacy and emotional distress.

In the new lawsuit, ‘Jane Doe 2’ alleges she was randomly approached by Allen on a plane in 2022, and the singer pursued and engaged with her for two months in a long-distance conversation before meeting in Las Vegas where she claims the assault occurred. The lawsuit claims, “Allen sexually assaulted Jane Doe 2 in his hotel room and then passed out. Extremely upset by the assault, Jane Doe 2 was leaving the hotel room when she discovered that Allen had surreptitiously and, without her consent, placed his cell phone in the closet facing the bed and had been videotaping the entire event.”

Last month, Allen was sued by a member of his former day-to-day management team for sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, sex trafficking and emotional distress.  After the initial news broke, Allen’s long time label, BBR’s Stoney Creek Records, and his booking agency, UTA, suspended him, and his publicity firm, Full Coverage Communications, parted ways with the singer. After news of the second lawsuit broke on Friday, Allen’s label announced he had been dropped, saying in a statement: “BBR Music Group has dissolved its relationship with Jimmie Allen. He is no longer an active artist on its roster.”

No charges have been filed on either case as of press time.

‘Yellowstone’ star Luke Grimes shares new song “Playin’ On The Tracks”

Luke Grimes has dropped his brand-new song “Playin’ On The Tracks,” written with Brent Cobb and produced by Dave Cobb. Grimes portrays Kayce Dutton on the popular television series Yellowstone.

Grimes shared how the track came about in a press release: “This song was my first co-write with the very talented Brent Cobb, and I realized pretty quickly that he was going to be a big part of my musical journey. With ‘Playin’ On The Tracks,’ it started with a mood. We were trying to capture the outlaw spirit of a sort of rambler. Once we got going, it sort of fell out. I love the shoot-from-the-hip attitude of this song.”

“Playin’ On The Tracks” is the follow-up to Grimes’ recent single, “Hold On,” as well as “Oh Ohio” and his debut single, “No Horse To Ride.”   Fans can look for the artist on the stage this summer at Spotify House at Ole Red at CMA Fest 2023 in Nashville, Tenn on Saturday, June 10.

I’ve always wanted to write and produce a Madonna album…well, co-produce with her, of course. She’s a visionary and she has such a singular vision, and I just want to come into her world and create a classic Madonna album. That was always my dream. Hopefully this is the appetizer for that.”   Take a look at the visualizer for “Popular” – here.

Former president Donald Trump indicted on 7 charges in classified docs probe

A federal grand jury has indicted former President Donald Trump on seven criminal charges in connection with his mishandling of more than 100 classified documents that were discovered last year at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

The new charges make Trump, who was twice-impeached, the first former president to face federal criminal charges. The nature of the charges were first reported by The New York Times, with sources noting that seven charges don’t necessarily mean seven counts, as multiple counts can be associated with each charge.

Trump said on Thursday night that his attorneys were informed that he has been indicted in the special counsel’s investigation into his handling of classified documents. Trump has denied doing anything wrong, rebuffing allegations that he mishandled classified documents by claiming that he had already declassified them. Trump posted his social media platform, Truth Social: “The corrupt Biden Administration has informed my attorneys that I have been Indicted, seemingly over the Boxes Hoax, even though Joe Biden has 1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware, additional Boxes in Chinatown, D.C., with even more Boxes at the University of Pennsylvania, and documents strewn all over his garage floor where he parks his Corvette, and which is “secured” by only a garage door that is paper thin, and open much of the time.”

Minutes after his post, Trump sent out a fundraising appeal citing the charges, asking supporters to ‘make a contribution to peacefully stand’ with him: “The Biden-appointed Special Counsel has INDICTED me in yet another witch hunt regarding documents that I had the RIGHT to declassify as President of the United States.”   Trump later posted a four-minute video, saying in part: “I’m an innocent person. I did nothing wrong. And we will fight this out just like we’ve been fighting for seven years. It would be wonderful if we could devote our full time to making America great again.”

The White House declined to comment on the Trump indictment. Secret Service officials said its personnel will meet with Trump’s team Friday to begin security and logistics planning related to his court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
