Roger Waters announces release of ‘The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ as solo album

Roger Waters announced he has re-recorded Pink Floyd‘s ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’ and will release his version as his own solo album. The reimagined album titled ‘The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ will coincide with the original LP’s 50th anniversary.

‘The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ was produced by the former Pink Floyd bassist along with Gus Seyffert, with a studio band (comprised of Seyffert, Joey Waronker, Jonathan Wilson, Johnny Shepherd and Jon Carin) used to record the tracks. Other Pink Floyd members including guitarist David Gilmour and drummer Nick Mason did not take part in the re-recording.

Waters shared via a press release: “The original ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ feels in some ways like the lament of an elder being on the human condition. But Dave, Rick, Nick, and I were so young when we made it, and when you look at the world around us, clearly the message hasn’t stuck. That’s why I started to consider what the wisdom of an 80 year old could bring to a reimagined version. When I first mentioned the idea of re-recording ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ to Gus and Sean we all thought I was mad, but the more we considered it, the more we thought, ‘Isn’t that the whole point?’ I’m immensely proud of what we have created, a work that can sit proudly alongside the original, hand-in-hand across a half-century of time.”

The lead single ‘Money’ has been reinterpreted by Waters into an acoustic track.  You can take a listen – here.

The Dark Side of the Moon Redux’ is set for release on October 6th; to pre-order, head here.

Former President Trump, additional staffer face new charges in Mar-a-Lago documents case

In a new indictment filed by special counsel on Thursday, former President Donald Trump faces accusations that he and aides asked a staffer to delete camera footage at his Mar-a-Lago Florida estate in an effort to obstruct the classified documents investigations. The allegations in the updated grand jury indictment not only added new charges against Trump, it adds another defendant to the case.

The third defendant, maintenance official Carlos De Oliveira, was added to the court docket on Thursday in case against Trump and his aide Walt Nauta in connection with the handling of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. The charges against De Oliveira were not immediately revealed Thursday. According to the indictment, Trump said to his lawyer: “I don’t want anybody looking, I don’t want anybody looking through my boxes, I really don’t. What happens if we just don’t respond at all of don’t play ball with them? Wouldn’t it be better if we just told them we don’t have anything here?”

Trump and valet Walt Nauta were charged last month by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith in a 38-count indictment with conspiring to hide classified documents at Mar-a-Lago from government investigators who were demanding them back. The records were taken by Trump to the Palm Beach complex after he left the White House in January 2021. Trump and Nauta have pleaded not guilty to the charges they face; a trial has been set for May 2024.

A Trump spokesperson dismissed the new charges as “nothing more than a continued desperate and flailing attempt” by the Biden administration “to harass President Trump and those around him” and to influence the 2024 presidential race.

Anheuser-Busch InBev to lay off about 350 employees amid boycott of Bud Light

Anheuser-Busch InBev, the company that owns Budweiser, is laying off about 350 corporate employees as the company deals with slumping sales of Bud Light in light of a continued conservative boycott after partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.

In a statement, Anheuser-Busch said it is eliminating close to 2% of workers “across every corporate function,” representing about 380 of AB InBev’s roughly 19,000 employees. The company didn’t give a timeline for when the layoffs will begin. Said Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whiteworth: “While we never take these decisions lightly, we want to ensure that our organization continues to be set for future long-term success. These corporate structure changes will enable our teams to focus on what we do best — brewing great beer for everyone.”

In April, the company designed a marketing campaign with social media star and trans rights activist Dylan Mulvaney. The promotion with Mulvaney entailed an Instagram post by the social media influencer, in which she revealed a commemorative Bud Light can with her face on it, celebrating her “365 days of girlhood” series on her transition. The post sparked an outcry from some conservatives, who called for a boycott of the popular beer.

As a result of the backlash, Bud Light lost its longtime ranking in May as the nation’s best-selling beer.  In the month ending July 15, Bud Light’s U.S. sales were down 26.5%, while Modelo’s were up 13.5%. Bud Light held a 6.8% share of the U.S. beer market in that period, while Modelo held an 8.7% share. AB InBev sold $71.5 million worth of Bud Light during the week ending July 16, compared with Modelo Especial which generated $90.3 million in sales that same week.

The company said the layoffs will target about 2% of its corporate staff and wouldn’t affect workers in the breweries, employees such as truck drivers or salespeople in the field, or warehouse staff.

Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow carted off practice field with calf injury

Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters that quarterback Joe Burrow was carted off the field during Thursday’s practice with an injury to his right calf. Sources say that an early assessment indicates that Burrow is dealing with a calf strain. Burrow, a fourth-year player out of LSU, is coming off his best season as a pro and is in contract discussions with the Bengals.

Burrow was rolling to his right during drills when he pulled up short in what appeared to be a noncontact injury, and was later carted off the field.  When Taylor was asked about the compression sleeve Burrow wore around his calf, which he wasn’t wearing after the team’s first practice of training camp Wednesday, he said that Burrow opted to wear it Thursday. The Bengals’ coach later said after the incident: “It was 10 minutes ago, so we don’t have any more information. We’ll get more information as we go.” Taylor also said that some players experience soreness after the first day of practice but added that, over the course of practice, Burrow felt good.

Burrow has dealt with injuries for three straight training camps — in 2021, Burrow was recovering from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee that ended his rookie season in 2020, when he entered the league during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Burrow suffered a ruptured appendix that required surgery days before the start of training camp. On Wednesday, Burrow was asked about being healthy and having a normal training camp for the first time in his career: “Knock on wood — I feel great  This time last year I was sitting in a hospital bed. It’s good to be out there with the guys. Excited about where we’re at.”

Colorado leaving Pac-12 to return to Big 12 in 2024

The University of Colorado Boulder announced Thursday that Colorado will return to the Big 12 in 2024, less than 10 years since it left the Big 12 for the Pac-12. The school will make its return to the league in 2024, and receive a full membership revenue share of $31.7 million from the conference’s television deals with ESPN and Fox.

Chancellor Phillip DiStefano and athletic director Rick George said in a joint statement: “After careful thought and consideration, it was determined that a switch in conference would give CU Boulder the stability, resources, and exposure necessary for long-term future success in a college athletics environment that is constantly evolving  The Big 12’s national reach across three time zones as well as our shared creative vision for the future we feel makes it an excellent fit for CU Boulder, our students, faculty, and alumni. These decisions are never easy and we’ve valued our 12 years as proud members of the Pac-12 Conference. We look forward to achieving new goals while embarking on this exciting next era as members of the Big 12 Conference.”

During a conference call on Wednesday night, the conference’s presidents and chancellors reportedly voted unanimously to accept Colorado as a new member of the Big 12; and on Thursday, the school’s board of regents held a meeting and unanimously voted upon a resolution, approving the move.

Colorado was one of the founding members of the Big 12 back in 1996. In 2011, the Buffaloes were one of two schools to leave the league along with Nebraska, which joined the Big Ten. In the 12 football seasons as members of the Pac-12, the Buffaloes had losing records in 10 of them, including eight years that resulted in two or fewer conference victories.

Miranda Lambert mourns the loss of her beloved dog, Thelma

Miranda Lambert announced the death of her beloved dog, Thelma, in a post on Instagram, sharing a series of throwback pictures of her and husband Brendan McLoughlin, with Thelma and their other dogs.

Lanmbert shared a lengthy tribute to her late pup, who died on July 24, 2023, recalling the day she adopted Thelma and her other Great Pyrenees Louise. She wrote about how the companions looked after and protected her farm, located on the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee: 🌈💕May 1, 2016, I adopted [two] beautiful Great Pyrenees named Thelma and Louise to watch over one of my happiest places on earth. My farm outside of Nashville,” Lambert, 39, shared alongside a slideshow of snapshots and a video, which includes Thelma with Louise on the sprawling property. “The Kitties, chickens, and mini horses needed to be looked after, and these [two] girls have done that since the day we brought them home. They rode on my bus all the way from Dallas to Nashville, and on that 10-hour drive, I fell in love with them. Yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet Thelma.”

Lambert added that she knew Thelmas lived a good life: “She spent her days lounging in the barn and her nights keeping watch over all of us. Tori Kelly shares update after hospitalization for blood clots

Tori Kelly posted an update on her health, after she was hospitalized over the weekend in serious condition with blood clots and other complications.

Tori, 31, shared a handwritten note posted to Instagram: “As you may have heard, I’m dealing with some unexpected health challenges. It’s been a scary few days, but I can feel your prayers and can’t stop thinking about you. I’m feeling stronger now and hopeful, but unfortunately, there are still some things to uncover. I’m so grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses who have been looking after me … Of course, I’m heartbroken about all of the things I had planned for this week of releasing my EP, but I know my health must come first. Until I see you again, I still want you to enjoy a project that represents the happy place I’ve been in the last few years. I won’t let this hurdle prevent the music from yours on Friday!  I love you all so much, and I am truly overwhelmed by all of the love and care I have received. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!” Tori captioned the post “Deuteronomy 31:8,” a Bible verse that reads, “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”

Tori was dining with friends at a restaurant in L.A. when her heart started to beat quickly and she passed out, according to TMZ, who first reported the story. Tori was admitted to the ICU at Cedars-Sinai hospital, where doctors reportedly discovered blood clots in her legs and lungs.

Pete Davidson sentenced to community service after car crash in LA

Pete Davidson will have to do community service and go to traffic school after he was charged with reckless driving for crashing his car into a Los Angeles-area home in March.

While the incident occurred in California, Davidson may be able to complete his requirements in New York City. nA spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement that Davidson was placed on an 18-month diversion program, which includes a hospital and morgue visit, or 12 hours of traffic school, 50 hours of community service and restitution, all of which can be completed from New York. He must have all hours finished within the next 18 months.

The 29-year-old Davidson crashed into a Beverly Hills home on March 4. Davidson was driving with his girlfriend, Chase Sui Wonders when he lost control of his vehicle in the Flats neighborhood of Beverly Hills. His car hopped the curb and hit a fire hydrant before crashing into the side of a nearby house. Davidson’s Mercedes-Benz was totaled, but there were no injuries sustained in the crash. No arrests were made in connection with the crash, and authorities did not believe Davidson was under the influence of drugs or alcohol while behind the wheel.

Davidson’s counsel indicated his interest in completing his community service with the New York Fire Department. Davidson’s late father, Scott Davidson, was among the firefighters who died while responding to the Sept. 11 attacks.
