Miami LT Terron Armstead injured at Dolphins joint practice with Texans

Miami Dolphins star left tackle Terron Armstead injured his right leg during his first snap of 11 on 11 drills at Thursday’s joint practice with the Houston Texans at the Houston Methodist Training Center. The four-time Pro Bowler was unable to put any weight on his leg and was also unable to straighten his knee to put sneakers on after his practice cleats were removed. He sat on the table for several minutes before ultimately being taken back into the team’s locker room via a cart.

After practice, Armstead posted a video of himself on social media, walking inside the training facility and expressing his thanks for the support he got once news of his injury made the rounds.

Later on Thursday, Cameron Wolfe of the NFL Network provided a positive update when he revealed that Armstead had texted him to say that he will “be good,” but that he will also be undergoing an MRI to be 100% certain.

Detroit Lions’ Jameson Williams likely to miss rest of preseason with hamstring injury

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell said on Thursday there’s a “good chance” the second-year wide receiver Jameson Williams will miss the rest of the preseason after suffering a hamstring injury during Wednesday’s practice. Williams sustained the injury during Wednesday’s training camp practice while running a route, leaving the session after the injury.

Williams was already suspended for the first six games of the 2023 season for violating the league’s gambling policy. Williams was among several Lions players to receive suspensions from the NFL in April for violating the league’s policy on sports betting. He received a six-game suspension for betting on non-NFL games from an NFL facility. Williams will come off suspension ahead of the Lions’ Week 7 game against the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 22.

After suffering an ACL tear in college, Williams, 22, missed most of his rookie campaign recovering from the knee injury he suffered in the College Football Playoff national championship game with Alabama prior to the draft.  He caught one of nine targets for a 41-yard touchdown in six games last season, finishing with 81 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown last season.

Guns N’ Roses release the new song ‘Perhaps’

Guns N’ Roses have officially released their brand new song, “Perhaps.” According to a press release (via Audacy), the song was “written and recorded by Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan this year,” and marks their “first collective new composition and recording together in 30 years since 1993’s The Spaghetti Incident?

The new track comes a month after speculation that new music was on the way, after the band teased the titles “Perhaps” and “The General” via Instagram Story. Shortly thereafter, GN’R  stage tech Tom Mayhue was overheard telling a group of people about the band’s upcoming plans. Mayhue said at the time: “I know that the band’s gonna start working on new music, they’ve got a bunch of stuff recorded already. So there will be new Guns N’ Roses music very soon. In fact, I think they’re trying to get a single out any day now, so you may hear something very, very soon.”

“Perhaps” was officially released to rock radio on Aug. 17, but as of press time is not yet available on streaming services.

Corey Taylor releases his new single “Talk Sick”

Corey Taylor has shared his new song “Talk Sick,” the third single from his forthcoming sophomore solo album CMF2, set to drop on September 15th.

Taylor said of the song in a press release that he achieved the opening guitar riff by playing it through “a speaker about the size of a coffee cup”. Said Taylor: “It made it sound violent; you feel like you’re being stung by bees who are playing along to the Sex Pistols.”  Taylor added of the song’s lyrics: “There’s an element of spiritual regurgitation, trying to purge yourself of demons that have been clinging to you because of prior relationships, romantic or otherwise. You realize those people bring a certain asshole side out of you that you don’t necessarily want in your life. It’s about trying to lance that boil and get that sickness out of you.”

Taylor will be hitting the road with his solo band for a U.S. tour in support of CMF2, kicking-off next Friday (August 25th) in Denver.
