Former NFL Player Henry Ruggs Sentenced to At Least 3 Years in Prison

Former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs was sentenced to 3 to 10 years in prison for a car crash that resulted in the death of a woman and her dog. Ruggs pleaded guilty back in May to one count of DUI resulting in death, and one count misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter in the 2021 crash. The sentencing Judge stated that this one of the most tragic cases she has seen.

Before sentencing Ruggs apologized to the family of the deceased. Henry Ruggs was driving 156 MPH right before crashing into the deceased Toyota SUV. Ruggs blood alcohol level was 0.161%, twice the legal limit in Nevada. Apart of the plea deal a few charges were dropped against Ruggs, including felony reckless driving.

Deadly Wildfires Across Maui Prompt Evacuations

Deadly wildfires having been sweeping across Hawaii killing at least 36 people in Maui County. Most of the western Maui community has been destroyed causing hundreds of families there to be displaced. Over 270 structures have been impacted in Lahaina leaving homes and businesses wiped out. 3 helicopters from the US Coast Guard and US Navy were sent to search and rescue efforts along the west Maui coastline.

This disaster could takes days or weeks to even be able to repair networks and power. More than 11,000 customers on Maui are without power. More than 2,100 people are in 4 emergency shelters in Maui on Tuesday night. The governor told CNN that they only have enough shelter for a few days but there isn’t enough for long term stay.

Grading Lakers Moves from the 2023 NBA Offseason

The Lakers have been having a great 2023 NBA offseason. They added new young talented players during the draft. They resigned almost all the key free agent players and was able to bring in players from outside the organization. They also extended their superstar player Anthony Davis.

Lakers front office have been doing a great job support talent around Lebron James. They signed Austin Reaves to a Four years, $56.3 million that was well needed. That was grade an A+. Another young star Rui Hachimura signed a Three years, $51 million deal that was graded a B. Anthony Davis signed a extended Three years, $186 million contract making him the highest paid in NBA history. Due to his injury history that was graded a D+.

Chiefs Not Willing to Make Chris Jones Highest Paid DT

Chris Jones has been an All Pro player 4 times in the last 5 seasons with the Chiefs. He even made first team all pro last season and still have not been able to secure a long term contract with the Chiefs that would make him the highest paid player in his position. According to Nate Taylor, Chiefs are just unwilling to make Chris Jones the highest paid DT in the league.

Chris Jones wants to be the second highest paid defensive tackle behind Superbowl Champion Aaron Donald. The Los Angeles superstar Aaron Donald current contract is $95 million guaranteed money and $31.67 million average annual salary. Jets recently signed Quinnen Williams to a 4 year extension making him the highest paid DT in the NFL.

Deadpool 3 not listed to release in early 2024
