Taylor Swift reveals five ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ vault song names

Taylor Swift has shared the titles of the bonus tracks that will appear on her re-recorded album, “1989 (Taylor’s Version)”.  Swift recruited Google, who instructed Swifties to solve puzzles in order to reveal the “From The Vault” tracks. Google announced the collaboration on Tuesday, writing on their official blog post: “You’ll be helping Swifties around the world get out of the woods (or unlock the vault) as everyone collectively solves 33 million puzzles. And that’s how it works, that’s how you get the vault track titles!”  Google later tweeted: “Swifties, we made it out of the woods! Bridges, built ✅ Codes, cracked ✅ Vault, opened ✅ #1989TaylorsVersionVault”

“1989 (Taylor’s Version)” will be released in October with the surprise tracks: “Is It Over Now?,” “Say Don’t Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk” and “Suburban Legends.” Swift revealed the songs on social media on Wednesday (September 20): “It’s a new soundtrack. Here are the back covers and vault track titles for ‘1989’ (my version). I can’t wait for this one to be out, seriously. Thank you for playing along, sleuthing, puzzling, and making these reveals so much chaotic fun (which is the best kind of fun, after all).”  The fifth “Vault” track (that was not previously shared by Google) is titled “Slut!”

Swift shared during a performance on Aug. 9 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles that she would release a newly recorded version of 1989, and wrote on social media at the time it would feature five vault songs: “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From The Vault tracks are so insane. I can’t believe they were ever left behind. But not for long!”

1989 was originally released in 2014 and featured 13 tracks and 16 songs on a deluxe edition. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) will feature 21 songs, including the five previously unreleased songs. The original 1989 album, which was co-written with Max Martin, went to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned Swift 10 Grammy nominations, with Grammy wins for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Music Video for “Bad Blood.”

Charges filed against Ray Epps, protester at center of far-right Jan. 6 conspiracy theory

The former U.S. marine who became the center of a Jan. 6, 2021, conspiracy theory, has been charged with a misdemeanor offense in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot. Ray Epps is expected to plead guilty, according to court papers filed Tuesday.

Epps is charged with disorderly or disruptive conduct on restricted grounds, court records show. Epps attorney, Edward J. Ungvarsky, said in an email that the case was filed with an anticipation that Epps would plead guilty to the charge. The judge has scheduled a plea agreement hearing for Wednesday.

Epps, a one-time supporter of Donald Trump, claimed in a lawsuit filed this year that Fox News Channel made him a scapegoat for the Capitol riot. Epps has said he went to Washington to protest the 2020 election, was falsely accused by Fox of being a government agent who was whipping up trouble that would be blamed on Trump supporters. Although the lawsuit mentions Fox News personalities Laura Ingraham and Will Cain, former Fox host Tucker Carlson is cited as the leader in promoting the theory. Epps was featured in more than two dozen segments on Carlson’s prime-time show, the lawsuit said.

Epps’s lawsuit against Fox News says the U.S. Justice Department told him in May that he faces criminal charges for his actions on Jan. 6, and he blames that on “the relentless attacks by Fox and Mr. Carlson and the resulting political pressure.” However, in an appearance before the House Judiciary Committee in July, FBI Director Christopher Wray denied having any knowledge of Epps being a “secret government agent.” Wray said: “I will say this notion that somehow the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6 was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources and agents is ludicrous.”

Epps was a previously member of the far-right Oath Keepers extremist group, serving as an Arizona chapter leader before parting ways with the anti-government group a few years before the Jan. 6 attack. Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and other members were convicted of seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6 attack.

President Biden urges allies to assist in aide to Ukraine in U.N. speech

In a speech Tuesday to the United Nations General Assembly, President Joe Biden urged world leaders not to abandon Ukraine in its war against Russia. Biden implied that if the U.S. and other nations that have aided Ukraine were to withhold support, every nation would feel vulnerable and isolated in the face of an attack.

Biden warned that Russia was hoping on other nations growing “weary” of the fight, saying in his speech to UNGA: “If we allow Ukraine to be carved up, is the independence of any nation secure? I respectfully suggest the answer is no.”  Biden drew applause when saying that the United States and its allies would stand with Ukraine’s fight for freedom:  “Russia alone bears responsibility for this war. Russia alone has the power to end this war immediately.”

Biden’s remarks come as polls show that U.S. support for Ukraine’s defense is beginning to wane, despite Biden’s pledge to support Ukraine for “as long as it takes.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who attended and applauded Biden’s remarks ahead of his own speech at UNGA on Tuesday, is scheduled to. meet Thursday with Biden at the White House, as well as meet some congressional leaders.

Biden’s address at the annual gathering was the centerpiece event of his three-day visit to New York, which will include meetings with the heads of five Central Asian nations, and the leaders of Israel and Brazil. On Wednesday, Biden will meet Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and join him in an event with labor leaders from Brazil and the United States. The President will also have his first face-to-face meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since Netanyahu regained power last December.

Tampa Bay Rays announce plans for new $1.3 billion stadium in St. Petersburg, FL

The Tampa Bay Rays, along with the city of St. Petersburg, announced plans for a new $1.3 billion state-of-the-art ballpark and a transformational development by the Hines Historic Gas Plant Partnership. The new ballpark will sit on the 86-acre site where the team’s current stadium sits, as part of the redevelopment of the Historic Gas Plant District. Rays owner Stuart Sternbeg said on Tuesday: “Major League Baseball is here to stay, right here .. Baseball has the power to connect people, connect communities and inspire us.”

The new 30,000-seat stadium (which has the ability to accommodate up to 35,000 for other events) will open in 2028. According to Major League Baseball, the new stadium will have three seating levels, a fixed roof, an artificial turf field, operable walls and a pavilion design. Fifteen to 20 acres, including the ballpark and two event parking garages, would be owned by Pinellas County, leased to St. Petersburg and subleased to the Rays on a 30-year lease agreement with options to extend it to 40 years. The Rays will pay more than half of the $1.3 billion ballpark and be responsible for any cost overruns.

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch said: “Today we take a new step forward in the promises made to the Gas Plant community some 40 years ago when I was a young man. Promises of opportunity and housing and economic development. Today, we celebrate the power of partnership and inclusive progress for our entire community based on our shared priorities.”

Construction on the new stadium is expected to begin in late 2024. The team will continue to play at the existing Tropicana Field until its lease with the city ends in 2027, with the first phase of development and the new ballpark ready by Opening Day 2028.

Cleveland Browns confirm Nick Chubb will miss season after suffering knee injury

Cleveland Browns announced on Tuesday that running back Nick Chubb will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during the team’s “Monday Night Football” loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sept. 18. The play was too graphic to be replayed on television during the “Monday Night Football” broadcast.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that Chubb, 27, will undergo surgery, sharing during a postgame briefing that Chubb has a “significant knee injury”.  Said Chubb: “He’s a great football player as we know, but he’s an even better person, so we will support him every step along the way.” Chubb previously suffered a left knee injury while playing at the University of Georgia, where he tore his PCL, MCL and LCL in the same knee.

The injury occurred in the second quarter of the Browns/Steelers matchup, when Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick hit Chubb, whose left knee went inward. Chubb grabbed his leg on the field before medical staff rushed over. During the game, the Browns posted on the team’s official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Chubb would be out for the rest of the game due to the injury. After Chubb was transported off the Steelers’ Acrisure Stadium field, Browns running back Jerome Ford stepped in, catching a touchdown pass. However, the Browns still lost to the Steelers 26-22.

After announcing that Chubb would be placed on season-ending injured reserve, the Browns tweeted: “Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes for Nick. Our thoughts are with him right now for the recovery ahead.”
