Jada Pinkett Smith confirms separation from husband Will Smith in 2016

Jada Pinkett Smith has confirmed she split from her husband, Will Smith, back in 2016. In a preview of an interview with Hoda Kotb on NBC News, the 52-year-old actress said she and Will, 55, have lived “completely separate lives” for the past 7 years. Smith revealed the news of their separation ahead of the release of her memoir, Worthy, which will be released on Oct. 17.  Pinkett Smith also addresses in her memoir the moment when Will infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards, after Rock made a joke about Jada.

Jada and Will married in December 1997 and share two children: son Jaden, 25, and daughter Willow, 22.  The famous couple consider themselves divorced, although they never legally filed to end their marriage, with Pinkett Smith saying that the pair kept their separation private and appeared together in public, shutting down rumors of their split.

Pinkett Smith also explained why she and Will kept their split private: “I think just not being ready yet, still trying to figure out between the two of us how to be in partnership and in regards to how do we present that to people. And we hadn’t figured that out. I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get divorced — we will work through whatever — and I just haven’t been able to break that promise.”  As for what led to the split, Jada said: “I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying. I think we were both stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be.”

In a separate interview with People, Jada said of her marriage: “We’re still figuring it out. We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”

Kacey Musgraves joins Noah Kahan for reimagined version of “She Calls Me Back”

Country music star Kacey Musgraves has joined Noah Kahan on a new version of his song “She Calls Me Back”. The singer-songwriter’s original version of “She Calls Me Back” appears on Kahan’s album Stick Season, released in October 2022.

Kahan shared his admiration of Musgraves in a post on Instagram: “Kacey Musgraves is the coolest person ever. Not exaggerating when I say that during the stick season album process we could finish a song and I’d listen back and be like ‘can you imagine kacey on this??’ Having her sing on she calls me back is incredible, and being able to have her continue telling the story adds a whole new dimension to the song and what it means. I’m so grateful and honored, continually humbled that artists of this level have lent their voice to this album,” he added. “Kacey is cool as hell, brilliantly talented, and represents everything I love about music. She is a true artist and I can’t thank her enough for being a part of this song.”

This is not the first collaboration for Kahan; he previously released a duet version of “Dial Drunk” with Post Malone, and “Call Your Mom” with Lizzy McAlpine. Meanwhile, Musgraves has collaborated with Zach Bryan on “I Remember Everything,” which was released in August.

Kahan is about the wrap up the final North American leg of his 2023 Stick Season Tour; in February, he’ll embark on the We’ll All Be Here Forever Tour, which includes more than 30 dates across the U.S., U.K. and Europe. For tour information including tickets, visit Noah Kahan’s official website.

President Biden vows U.S. support of Israel, confirms 14 Americans killed by Hamas

In remarks delivered from the White House, President Biden condemned the Hamas militant group’s bloody attacks on Israel that took place over the weekend, calling them an “act of sheer evil” and strongly emphasized that “we stand with Israel.” Ahead of his remarks, Mr. Biden met with his national security team, and he and Vice President Kamala Harris also spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss U.S. support for Israel.

The President, standing alongside Vice President Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken, said the people of Israel experienced “pure, unadulterated evil at the bloody hands” of Hamas, which has long been designated a terrorist organization by the United States.  Biden declared: “This was an act of sheer evil … and in this moment, we must be crystal clear: We stand with Israel. We stand with Israel. And we will make sure Israel has what it needs to take care of its citizens, to defend itself and to respond to this attack. There’s no justification for terrorism. There’s no excuse.”

Biden also revealed that at least 14 Americans are among the more than 900 people killed in Israel, and American citizens are also among those being held captive by Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip. After Biden’s remarks, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said that while he could not confirm the precise number of U.S. citizens who are hostages, there are 20 or more Americans missing. Sullivan said: “We will work hour-by-hour both to determine whether we can account for any of those Americans, or to confirm exactly the number of Americans held hostage. We do not know the number of hostages we have at this time.”

The President’s remarks came after Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that rules the Gaza Strip, launched its surprise assault on Israel early Saturday morning. Israel Defense Forces have since said that at least 900 dead and roughly 2,700 wounded, and dozens more people are being held captive by the group. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, in Gaza the death toll is at least 900, with 4,500 wounded. Those numbers are expected to rise as Israel continues to launch airstrikes across the Gaza Strip.

Mr. Biden has repeatedly expressed unwavering support for Israel since the terrorist attack, with the White House lit in blue and white, the colors of the Israeli flag, as a symbol of “the ironclad support and solidarity of the American people with the people of Israel in the wake of the barbaric terrorist attacks committed by Hamas,” according to the White House. Mr. Biden, along with the leaders of France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom, also issued a joint statement condemning Hamas and “its appalling acts of terrorism. Our countries will support Israel in its efforts to defend itself and its people against such atrocities. We further emphasize that this is not a moment for any party hostile to Israel to exploit these attacks to seek advantage. All of us recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people, and support equal measures of justice and freedom for Israelis and Palestinians alike. But make no mistake: Hamas does not represent those aspirations, and it offers nothing for the Palestinian people other than more terror and bloodshed.”
