Blink-182 pay homage to the Ramones in video for ‘Dance With Me’

Blink-182 have shared the video for “Dance With Me,” which pays homage to the legendary punk band The Ramones.  The song is off Blink’s upcoming album One More Time, out Oct. 20, marking the return of Tom DeLonge to the band after a two-album absence. One More Time has already yielded 2022’s “Edging,” as well as the recently released singles “One More Time” and “More Than You Know.”

The video for Dance With Me, directed by the Malloy Brothers, sees Blink’s Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker all sporting leather jackets and mop haired wigs as they’re being interviewed about punk and their new song. Says Hoppus: “Punk is doing what you think is right on your own terms and not answering to anybody else and not letting people tell you how you should live your life.”  The Blink-182 guys mimic the famous Ramones video for “I Wanna Be Sedated”, and posted on X: “This video is a love letter to The @RamonesOfficial.”

Blink-182 is currently touring Europe and the U.K., but will be back in Las Vegas for two shows later this month. Then in February and March of next year they’ll play Australia and New Zealand, with South American dates to follow in the spring. For ticketing info, head here.

United States orders warships to Middle East days after Hamas attacks on Israel

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the United States will send multiple military ships and aircraft closer to Israel as a show of support, ordering the deployment of several warships to the Middle East on Sunday following the increase of conflict in Israel. Washington believing Hamas’ deadly attacks may have been motivated to disrupt a potential normalizing of Israel-Saudi Arabia ties.

In a statement, Austin said the United States was sending an armada to the region after the country suffered its bloodiest day in decades on Saturday when Hamas militants rampaged through Israeli towns and fired thousands of rockets at Israel in a surprise attack, killing 350 civilians and leading to retaliatory strikes from Israel that killed at least 313 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Thousands more have been injured or wounded. Austin said he received the go-ahead from President Joe Biden in an effort to deter further bloodshed in the region. Israel battered Palestinians with air strikes in Gaza on Sunday, with hundreds reportedly killed on both sides.

The fleet was being led by the USS Gerald R. Ford, and is being joined by the USS Normandy, a guided missile cruiser, and the guided missile destroyers USS Thomas Hudner, USS Ramage, USS Carney, and the USS Roosevelt. Austin said the U.S. military would also “provide the Israel Defense Forces with additional equipment and resources, including munitions, with the first security assistance will begin moving today and arriving in the coming days. We have also taken steps to augment U.S. Air Force F-35, F-15, F-16, and A-10 fighter aircraft squadrons in the region. The U.S. maintains ready forces globally to further reinforce this deterrence posture if required … My thoughts continue to be with the people of Israel and the many families who have lost loved ones,” he said, without commenting on the violence faced by Palestinian civilians.

The conflict in the Middle East comes after decades of enduring hostilities between Israel and Palestine, which is recognized as a sovereign nation by most countries worldwide and has observer status with the United Nations.

Tensions in the region have surged in recent months as the Israeli military conducted thousands of raids in the Palestinian territory, which led to numerous deadly reprisals against Jewish soldiers and settlers making homes on Palestinian lands.

NY Giants’ QB Daniel Jones leaves game with neck injury; will get MRI

The New York Giants QB Daniel Jones left Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins with a neck injury in the fourth quarter. The Giants were down 31-13 when Jones was sacked by Andrew Van Ginkel, which took him off the field. Jones was 14 of 20 for 119 yards when he left the game. Tyrod Taylor finished the game at quarterback.

The Giants had eight offensive possessions with Jones (including the possession which he was injured), and punted four times, kicked three field goals, and had a missed field goal. The Giants have had an awful season thus far, and still have no offensive first-half touchdowns through five games (they are just the sixth team since 1991 with zero first half offensive touchdowns through five games). The Giants and the 2017 Dolphins are the only teams since 2005 not to record an offensive touchdown in the first half through the first five games of a season.

After the game, Jones told reporters that he had X-rays done at the stadium due to neck soreness, and said he will also have an MRI this week to determine the extent of the injury. Jones said he’s dealt with similar issues in the past, referencing his season-ending neck injury in 2021.

Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson believed to have sprained AC joint

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is believed to have a sprained AC joint after he injured his shoulder in Sunday’s 23-16 win over the Tennessee Titans.  Richardson is undergoing an MRI to confirm the initial diagnosis.

Richardson’s injury occurred after getting tackled on a 4-yard run with 4:39 left in the second quarter. His right shoulder took the brunt of the impact as he fell to the turf, indicating his shoulder was injured as he lay on the ground.  Richardson was attended to by the team’s training staff and after a few minutes and was helped up; after being examined in the sideline medical tent, he was escorted to the locker room and is said to be unable to move his right arm. Gardner Minshew came in to relieve Richardson; Minshew has 25 career starts and was the Colts’ starter in their win over the Ravens’ in Week 3.

Richardson has been plagued by injuries this season thus far; he took a hit to his right knee in the season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars and was pulled from the game. The following week against the Houston Texans, Richardson sustained a concussion in the second quarter and missed the rest of that game and the following week against the Baltimore Ravens.  Richardson will have played in just 12 of a possible 20 quarters played by the Colts this season, including Sunday’s game.

Coach Shane Steichen said: “I think when you have a dynamic player like him, obviously, one of his skillsets is a runner [and] that makes him really good  The designed run that he got hurt on [was] something similar to last week where he popped it for a big one. So that’s stuff that you’ve got to look at, be smart with.”
