L.A. Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa carted off field after foot injury vs. Packers

Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa was carted off the field in the first quarter of Sunday’s Week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers after being injured. The Chargers initially said the 28-year-old Bosa was questionable to return due to a foot injury, but downgraded him to out midway through the third quarter.

The injury occurred on the opening drive of the game at Lambeau Field on a first-and-10 run by Packers running back Aaron Jones. Bosa collided with a Packers lineman as Jones ran into the pile, and Bosa seemed to immediately pick his right foot off the ground; after the play was over, Bosa limped off the field in very noticeable pain before lying down on the sideline.

ESPN’s Kris Rhim shared on social media: “Joey Bosa appears to be in significant pain on the sideline. Limped off the field and is sitting on the sideline bench with his face in his hands as trainers and teammates talk to him,” and later tweeted: “Joey Bosa just left to the locker room on a cart. Looked very upset and appeared to be crying into a towel.”

The four-time Pro Bowler has been plagued with injuries since the Chargers selected him third overall in 2016, playing an entire, full season just twice through his career. In 2022, Bosa was out for 12 games because of a groin tear; and this year, Bosa’s left big toe fracture, along with a hamstring injury, sidelined him in Week 4 and limited his availability for the next two games. In eight games played this season, Bosa has posted 20 tackles, 6.5 sacks, eight quarterback hits and a forced fumble.

Priscilla Block shares new song “Hey Jack”

Priscilla Block surprised fans with the new single “Hey Jack,” as well as dropping the official music video for the track.  Block co-wrote “Hey Jack” with Randy Montana, Jeremy Stover and Dave Cohen; she also revealed she’s kicking off the “Hey Jack Tour” in February.

Block said in a statement about the song: “This release is something that we’ve worked really hard on. From writing the song, to filming the video, to having my red carpet looks mimic different scenes from the video. It’s been such a creative time for me. This is the start of a new era and I couldn’t be more excited about it!

Block added: “‘Hey Jack’ was such a fun song to write. I wrote it with Randy Montana, Jeremy Stover and Dave Cohen, and it was really cool writing from the perspective of you talking to a drink. I feel like a drink can be something that you lean on if you’re going through a great time or a hard time, and they get sides of you that a lot of people don’t. So, instead of calling an ex-boyfriend, you might call on some whiskey.”

Block’s headlining “Hey Jack Tour” will stop in Washington, Texas, Oregon, New York and other destinations, featuring special guest Ryan Larkins before wrapping-up in May in Raleigh, North Carolina.

For tickets to the ‘Hey Jack Tour’, head to Ticketmaster.

David DePape found guilty in Paul Pelosi hammer attack case

A federal jury on Thursday convicted David DePape, the man who attacked Paul Pelosi, husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, with a hammer during a break-in last year at the couple’s San Francisco home. Paul Pelosi, 83, sustained a fractured skull in the Oct. 28, 2022, attack.

The unanimous verdicts were reached by the panel of 12, pulled from a pool of 15 jurors and alternate jurors that was comprised of 12 men and three women. They deliberated for seven hours over two days, about 4 1/2 hours on Wednesday and 2 1/2 hours on Thursday. DePape, 43, showed no emotion as the panel found him guilty of attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assault on the immediate family member of a federal official.

DePape surprisingly took the witness stand in his own defense Tuesday and rattled off a long list of baseless allegations and grievances — many of which regularly echo through far-right circles — that motivated him to break into Pelosi’s home in Pacific Heights, San Francisco.

U.S. Attorney Ismail Ramsey said he hopes the verdicts will serve as a statement against political violence: “What this guilty verdict on all counts sends is a clear message that regardless of what your beliefs are, what you cannot do is physically attack a member of Congress or their immediate family for their performance in their job.”

A Pelosi family statement read on Thursday: “The Pelosi family is very proud of their Pop, who demonstrated extraordinary composure and courage on the night of the attack a year ago. Thankfully, Mr. Pelosi continues to make progress in his recovery.”

DePape faces up to life in federal prison; he still faces state charges — attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, residential burglary, false imprisonment and threatening the life or serious bodily harm to a public official. DePape is due back in federal court on Dec. 13, when the sides will set a date for sentencing.

Rep. George Santos says he won’t seek reelection after scathing ethics report

On Thursday, Rep. George Santos said he will not be seeking reelection in 2024, this after the House Ethics Committee released a scathing report that concluded there is “substantial evidence” that Santos “violated federal criminal laws,” including using campaign funds for personal purposes and filing false campaign reports. The New York Republican said in a statement on X: “I will continue on my mission to serve my constituents up until I am allowed. I will however NOT be seeking re-election for a second term in 2024 as my family deserves better than to be under the gun from the press all the time.”

The Ethics subcommittee said in its wide-ranging 56-page report, that Santos found “a complex web of unlawful activity involving Representative Santos’ campaign, personal, and business finances. Representative Santos sought to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his House candidacy for his own personal financial profit … He blatantly stole from his campaign. He deceived donors into providing what they thought were contributions to his campaign but were in fact payments for his personal benefit. He reported fictitious loans to his political committees to induce donors and party committees to make further contributions to his campaign—and then diverted more campaign money to himself as purported ‘repayments’ of those fictitious loans.”  The report continued that Santos “used his connections to high-value donors and other political campaigns” to enrich himself, “and he sustained all of this through a constant series of lies to his constituents, donors, and staff about his background and experience.” The Ethics panel also detailed various suspicious campaign expenditures, which included spending at Hermes, Ferragamo stores, an Airbnb while Santos was on a Hamptons weekend getaway, Botox treatments and OnlyFans, a subscription-based website.

The DOJ has already charged Santos on multiple federal counts, including identity theft, money laundering and theft of public funds. He is set to go on trial in September and has pleaded not guilty. Santos, 35, said on X: “I will remain steadfast in fighting for my rights and for defending my name in the face of adversity. I am humbled yet again and reminded that I am human and I have flaws, but I will not stand by as I am stoned by those who have flaws themselves.

NBA suspends Draymond Green for five games for Rudy Gobert headlock

The NBA announced the suspension of Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green for five games after he headlocked center Rudy Gobert during a loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Green was involved in the incident in the first quarter of the Warriors’ loss Tuesday in San Francisco.

NBA head of basketball operations Joe Dumars said Green, who received several previous suspensions for on-court altercations, was suspended in part because of his “history of unsportsmanlike acts.” Warriors guard Klay Thompson, Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels and Green were all ejected for their roles in an on-court brawl, with Thompson, McDaniels and Gobert also fined $25,000 apiece for their roles in the incident.

Green began his suspension Thursday, when the Warriors hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder at Chase Center. The Warriors will host the Thunder again Saturday and the Houston Rockets on Monday in San Francisco. They will battle the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday in Phoenix. The final game of Green’s suspension will be when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday at Chase Center.

Green, a four-time All-Star, eight-time All-Defensive Team selection, two-time All-NBA selection and four-time champion averaged 8.8 points, 5.7 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game through his first nine appearances this season.
