Megan Thee Stallion shares the video for “Cobra”

Megan Thee Stallion has dropped the video for her latest song, her first single under Megan’s new independent music and entertainment entity, Hot Girl Productions (since formally cutting ties with 1501 Certified Entertainment). The music video for ‘Cobra,’ directed by Douglas Bernardt, sees Megan crawling out of a snake’s mouth, peels off a layer of her skin, and performs a dance routine to a guitar solo.

“Cobra” follows Megan Thee Stallion’s collab with Cardi B, “Bongos” and her Dicks: The Musical contribution “Out Alpha the Alpha.” Megan said of the song: “Cobras exemplify courage and self-reliance. They stand tall and fierce in the face of challenges, teaching one to tap into their inner strength and rely on oneself to conquer their treats. Emulating the cobra helps one be more confident in the person they are within.”

Patrick Dempsey named People’s ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ 2023

Patrick Dempsey was revealed as People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2023 during the Nov. 7 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where the actor made an appearance via Proto hologram.

People also posted on social media: “#PatrickDempsey has been crowned PEOPLE’s 2023 #SexiestManAlive. 😍 Read the cover story in our bio link, and don’t forget to grab your issue on newsstands this week! | 🎥: @ericlongden; 📷: @carterbedloesmith”

Dempsey, who’s best known for playing Derek Shepherd on more than 200 episodes of ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, earns the title more than 30 years after he began his career in Hollywood. The 57-year-old told People in his cover story that he was shocked to officially land the honor: “I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid! I’d completely forgotten about it and never even contemplated being in this position. So my ego is good.” Dempsey added: “I’m glad it’s happening at this point in my life. It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.”

Patrick shares kids Talula, 21, and Darby and Sullivan, 16, with wife Jillian Fink. Dempsey will return to the big screen this year in the Michael Mann-directed biopic Ferrari, playing Piero Taruffi, an Italian Formula One driver. Said Dempsey: “I’d been following the movie for years, so I called Michael and said, ‘I want to discuss being a part of this.’ That taught me if you really want something, you have to do it yourself.”

Dempsey also founded the Dempsey Center, in honor of his late mother. The center supports cancer patients and their loved ones.

Special counsel Weiss says that he has full authority to pursue criminal charges against Hunter Biden

Special counsel David Weiss told lawmakers in closed-door testimony on Tuesday that he had full authority to pursue criminal charges against Hunter Biden. Weiss, who was appointed the U.S. attorney for Delaware to lead the investigation into President Joe Biden’s son, said he voluntarily agreed to appear before the Republican-led House Judiciary Committee before the submission of his special counsel report to “address misunderstandings about the scope of my authority” in the Hunter Biden criminal probe but would not divulge information that could impede the ongoing investigation.

According to a copy of his opening statement before the House Judiciary Committee, Weiss said: “I am, and have been, the decision-maker on this case. At no time was I blocked, or otherwise prevented from pursuing charges or taking the steps necessary in the investigation by other United States Attorneys, the Tax Division or anyone else at the Department of Justice.”

Weiss’ testimony comes as investigations into Hunter Biden’s finances and business ventures continue to probe whether senior officials took any steps to obstruct or disrupt criminal investigations into Hunter Biden. Case agents – and IRS whistleblowers – Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, who were previously assigned to the Hunter Biden investigation, told lawmakers they recommended federal charges be brought against the president’s son for tax violations but testified that Weiss said he had been denied special counsel status and was “not the deciding person” to bring charges in the case. They alleged intentional slow-walking and “an undeniable pattern of preferential treatment” in the federal investigation.

Weiss has repeatedly refuted Shapley’s claims and said he did not request special counsel status until August when the request was “promptly granted” by Attorney General Merrick Garland. Weiss had informed him that his investigation had reached a stage where he believed his work should continue as a special counsel, a designation that confers greater autonomy in conducting a probe.

Police investigating after Jewish man dies in confrontation during Israel/Palestinian demonstrations

Authorities are seeking information after a Jewish man in California died following a confrontation during dueling protests over the Israel-Hamas war. Police said Tuesday they had identified a suspect who called 911 after the altercation in which 69-year-old Paul Kessler died from a head injury.

Witnesses reported that Kessler was involved in a “physical altercation” during pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations at an intersection in Thousand Oaks, a suburb northwest of Los Angeles. Authorities said that te event started as a pro-Palestine demonstration and was advertised as a peaceful gathering and that pro-Israel demonstrators turned out with about 75 to 100 people total attending.

Ventura County Medical examiner Dr. Christopher Young said at a news conference Tuesday that an autopsy found Kessler died from a blunt force head injury, and that the injuries were consistent with a fall; however, it remains unclear if a blow to the face caused his fall or not.

Ventura County Sheriff Jim Fryhoff said no arrests have been made, though authorities identified a suspect who stayed at the scene and told officers he had called 911 to help Kessler.  Sheriff Fryhoff said that deputies determined Kessler fell backward and struck his head on the ground, but ‘what exactly transpired prior to Mr. Kessler falling backward isn’t crystal clear right now,’ and were still trying to sort out what happened and whether a crime had been committed; adding that investigators also hadn’t ruled out the possibility that the act was a hate crime. Fryhoff stated that the suspect, who has been cooperating with authorities, was detained briefly for questioning and authorities searched his home.

The Greater Los Angeles Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations issued a statement calling Kessler’s death a “tragic and shocking loss,” and added: “while we strongly support the right of political debate, CAIR-LA and the Muslim community stand with the Jewish community in rejecting any and all violence, antisemitism, Islamophobia, or incitement of hatred.”

LA Rams to sign veteran QB Carson Wentz

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Los Angeles Rams are signing veteran quarterback Carson Wentz. Sources say that Wentz’s signing signifies that Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s thumb injury may require the veteran to miss additional games. Stafford did not play vs. the Packers on Sunday after injuring his thumb vs. the Cowboys the week before, with backup quarterback Brett Rypien getting the start instead.

Wentz hasn’t played in the NFL this season after he started at least seven games for three different teams in each of the last seven seasons.  Wentz threw for 1,755 yards with 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions for the Commanders last year, earning a 2-5 record.  No team decided to sign the veteran after Wentz hit free agency in the offseason.

The Rams waived Rypien and released Dresser Winn to make room for Wentz.  Stafford and Wentz are now the only two quarterbacks on the Rams roster.

Slipknot and drummer Jay Weinberg part ways

Slipknot and drummer Jay Weinberg have parted ways, with the band calling it a “creative decision.”

Slipknot posted a statement to its socials: “We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years. No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds.”

Weinberg, the son of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, was a member of Slipknot for nearly a decade, joining the band in 2014 following the departure of founding drummer Joey Jordison (Jordison passed away in July 2021 at the age of 46). Weinberg played on three of the band’s studio albums: .5: The Gray Chapter (2014), We Are Not Your Kind (2019), and The End, So Far (2022). Weinberg grew up a Slipknot fan, as evidenced by photos of his dad, Max, taking him to meet the band when he was just a kid.

Slipknot have undergone a number of lineup changes in recent years, including the departure of members Craig Jones and Chris Fehn in 2023 and 2019, respectively.  As of press time, Slipknot have not named a replacement for Jay Weinberg.
