Metallica’s ‘All Within My Hands’ foundation donates $500,000 to LA fire relief

Metallica’s charitable organization All Within My Hands Foundation is donating $500,000 to relief efforts related to the current wildfires that have ravaged multiple areas of Los Angeles.

The money is being split evenly between the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund ($250,000) and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund ($250,000). In addition, a page has been set up on the foundation’s website for individuals to donate additional money to the California Community Foundation (CCF) and/or the Pasadena Community Foundation (PCF) to help further with relief efforts in the Los Angeles area.

A statement from the foundation reads as follows: “The fires raging in the Los Angeles area have relentlessly wreaked havoc and widespread destruction since January 7 and, sadly, do not show signs of slowing down. Despite containment progress over the weekend, officials warn residents to stay vigilant as the Santa Ana winds return and are expected to reach up to 70 MPH over the coming days, creating critical fire conditions. In the past week, the community has suffered at least 24 lives lost, nearly 100,000 people under evacuation orders, 40,000 acres burned, and more than 12,000 structures—commercial and residential—destroyed. However, numbers cannot articulate the magnitude of anguish as the disaster upends families and dismantles livelihoods. Our foundation, All Within My Hands, is granting $500,000 to relief efforts carried out by the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Recovery Fund and the Pasadena Community Foundation’s Eaton Canyon Fire Relief and Recovery Fund.”

The All Within My Hands Foundation, founded in 2017, has stated their goal of “creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger, and other critical local services.”  Metallica holds an annual “Helping Hands” benefit concert and auction as part of their All Within My Hands Foundation’s fund-raising efforts.

Federal judge allows release of special counsel’s final report on Trump election interference case

U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has ruled that the Justice Department can release Volume One that former special counsel Jack Smith issued on President-elect Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss.

Cannon denied a request to extend an injunction banning the Justice Department from releasing Vol. 1, writing: “Based on these representations, the Court sees an insufficient basis to grant emergency injunctive relief as to Volume I”.

Cannon’s ruling (seen HERE) means that the Justice Department could release the portion of the Smith report that deals with Trump’s efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss as soon as midnight, barring future legal action from Trump or his team. She kept in place a prohibition on releasing the portion of the report about the classified document case, which the Justice Department said it didn’t intend to release at this point. Cannon has scheduled a hearing on that matter for Jan. 17, three days before Trump’s inauguration.

The Justice Department still has a pending motion before the 11th Circuit asking to release the portion of the report about Jan. 6 immediately, but the court has yet to rule on that motion.

Smith resigned from his position on Friday as special prosecutor after wrapping up the cases and submitting his report to Attorney General Merrick Garland. Garland has told Congress he will release the volume of the report that deals with Trump’s 2020 efforts when he is legally allowed to do so. The volume of the report that deals with Trump’s handling of classified documents will not be released because two co-defendants are still facing charges.

Eagles LB Nakobe Dean out for rest of playoffs after tearing patellar tendon

League sources confirmed that the Philadelphia Eagles starting linebacker Nakobe Dean is expected to miss the remainder of the playoffs after suffering a serious knee injury early in the second quarter during Sunday’s wild-card playoff win over the Green Bay Packers.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, Dean is out for the remainder of the playoffs due to a torn patellar tendon in his knee and will “likely” miss the start of the 2025 season. The linebacker was injured in the second quarter after wrangling tight end Tucker Kraft to the ground for a 3-yard loss on a screen play. After being assisted off the field to the medical tent, Dean was carted inside. Prior to exiting the contest, he recorded six tackles, which included two tackles for loss.

Eagels’ cornerback Darius Slay said of Dean: “He’s one of the true leaders on this defense. I know I got the ‘C’ on my chest but if there is someone I want to give my [captaincy] to, it’s him. It’s hurtful to see him go down like that because he is having an amazing year, playing outstanding, and I’m praying for him for a speedy recovery.”

The 24-year-old Dean was drafted in the third round in 2022 out of Georgia. Last season he was sidelined for all but five games due to multiple foot injuries, including a Lisfranc sprain that landed him on injured reserve in November. However this year, Dean was having a breakout season with 128 tackles (the second-most on the team behind Zack Baun), three sacks, nine tackles for loss, six quarterback hits and an interception.
