Eric Clapton sets limited run of 2025 tour dates this fall

Eric Clapton will hit the road in September for a limited run of U.S. tour dates. The trek, featuring special guests The Wallflowers, is the only U.S. dates Clapton has booked for 2025. Clapton’s band for the U.S. tour will be Nathan East on bass and vocals, Edward ‘Sonny’ Emory III on drums, Doyle Bramhall II on guitar, Tim Carmon on Hammond and keyboards, Chris Stainton on keyboard, Sharon White on backing vocals, and Katie Kissoon on backing vocals.

The tour begins September 8th in Nashville at Bridgestone Arena, and will continue for five additional dates making stops at Cleveland’s Rocket Arena, Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center, Boston’s TD Garden, New York’s Madison Square Garden before wrapping up Sept. 20th at Uncasville’s Mohegan Sun Arena.

Clapton will be kicking-off eight nights at the Nippon Budokan in Japan on April 14, and also has U.K. dates booked, including three nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall in May, plus shows in Italy and France.

The tour comes on the heels of the release of Clapton’s recent studio album Meanwhile, which features six new songs and eight previously released singles, and includes collaborations with Jeff Beck, Van Morrison, Bradley Walker, Judith Hill, Daniel Santiago, and Simon Climie.

Comprised of eight total dates, the “Alanis Morissette: Las Vegas 2025” residency begins with a concert on October 15th and continues with dates on October 17th, 18th, 22nd, 24th, and 25th. See J-Hope in the video for his latest single, ‘Mona Lisa’

BTS’s J-Hope has dropped his latest solo single “Mona Lisa,” along with an accompanying music video. The track and visual are the follow-up to his recent single, “Sweet Dreams”.

The video kicks-off with the K-pop singer and rapper, 31, gazing at an image of woman’s turned face, in an apparent museum, with no other artwork on the walls.  An official description reads: “‘Mona Lisa’ is a love song that pays tribute to celebrating one’s unique beauty. With its title inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic masterpiece, ‘Mona Lisa,’ the track likens the praise for the alluring person to the timeless masterpiece. It conveys that what truly moves someone is not external beauty, but rather the distinctive characteristics that make each person special.” Check out the video for ‘Mona Lisa’ – HERE.

As noted, J-Hope recently shared the single and video for “Sweet Dreams” featuring Miguel, which marked his first solo project in a year since the release of his album, Hope on the Street Vol 1. last March. The collaboration marks the two stars’ first time working together, with the video featuring an overhead shot of the South Korean singer sleeping in bed, and when he opens his eyes, the image cuts to a house floating in the sky.  See the video for ‘Sweet Dreams’ – HERE.

Second unvaccinated child dies of measles in Texas amid outbreak in the state

A school-aged, unvaccinated child died at a local hospital in West Texas where they had been receiving treatment for measles – marking the second death of a minor in the state linked to the ongoing outbreak.

US Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said Sunday on X that he was in Gaines County, the epicenter of the outbreak, to meet with families in the community. He said he had spoken to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to offer continued support and that teams from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention teams had been sent back to the state. Kennedy noted in his post on X that “the most effective way to prevent the spread of measles is the MMR vaccine,” and added that the HHS is partnering with Texas health officials to better combat the measles outbreak in the state and has deployed teams from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to the area. Source also said that Kennedy planned to attend the child’s funeral on Sunday.

Aaron Davis, vice president of UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, told CNN in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to report that a school-aged child who was recently diagnosed with measles has passed away. The child was receiving treatment for complications of measles while hospitalized. It is important to note that the child was not vaccinated against measles and had no known underlying health conditions.”

Texas’ first measles death linked to the ongoing outbreak was in an unvaccinated school-aged child in February, with another death in New Mexico remaining under investigation. The measles outbreak – now spanning Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and possibly Kansas – reached at least 569 cases Friday, according to data obtained from state health departments.

In Texas, health department data shows that nearly all outbreak-related cases were in unvaccinated people, and 70% were among children and teens. Many of those cases have broken out in West Texas, with Gaines County accounting for nearly 66% of cases.  In Lubbock County, which accounts for nearly 7% of the confirmed cases in Texas, UMC Health has started offering drive-up measles screenings at both of its 24/7 urgent care centers.

As of Friday, New Mexico has reported 54 cases, and Oklahoma reported 10 cases (eight confirmed and two probable). Cases in Kansas, which the state health department said may be linked to the outbreak, reached 24 as of Wednesday.

Death toll climbs to 18 after severe weather, flash flooding hits South, Midwest U.S.

Life-threatening weather conditions continued across multiple states on Sunday, with the threat of severe flooding in Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas, and tornado watches in Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia and Florida (per ABC News.)

Areas that had been previously affected by high winds and heavy rains since midweek saw additional inclement weather from the same relentless storm system that caused widespread power outages and voluntary evacuations. At least 18 people in multiple states have died from weather-related causes since Wednesday.  NPR reported that the severe storms continued throughout the South and Midwest on Sunday,with powerful tornadoes from Mississippi to Kentucky.

In a video message posted on X, Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear warned residents Sunday morning that the state was in for another day or more of bad weather: “Please, everybody be careful, We’ve tragically lost two individuals, two Kentuckians, two children of God already, and we don’t want to lose any more.” WLKY reported that one of the fatalities was 9-year-old Gabriel Andrews, who was swept away by floodwaters as he walked to his school bus stop in Frankfort Friday morning

The Tennessee Department of Health confirmed that 10 people had died in storms in that state ,with half of the deaths in Tennessee occurred in McNairy County. The McNairy County Emergency Management Agency said in a social media post that an EF3 tornado in the southwestern Tennessee county on Thursday damaged 332 buildings, destroying 108 of them.

According to the National Weather Service, parts of Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee had received more than a foot of rain, while areas of Illinois, Mississippi and Missouri saw more than 10 inches. More than 54,000 customers in Arkansas had no power early Sunday afternoon, while thousands were also in the dark in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Texas, according to the website PowerOutage.us.

The NWS said in a Sunday forecast that the storm system — along with the threats of heavy rainfall and flash flooding — will move east into the Southeastern U.S. throughout the day, and forecasters also warned that flooding could continue for several days in the affected areas even after the heavy rains have dissipated.

Alex Ovechkin scores goal #895 breaking Wayne Gretzky’s all-time NHL scoring record

Washington Capitals’ star Alex Ovechkin set the all time NHL scoring record Sunday, netting his 895th goal on a powerplay to surpass the record held by hockey legend Wayne Gretzky.

Gretzky – also known as the “Great One” – had held the record for over 30 years until Ovechkin scored the goal during the Caps’ away game against the New York Islanders on Sunday (which the Isles would go on to win, 4-1).

After he scored, Ovechkin slid to the ice belly-first and shouted with delight, as fans of both teams roared in support and chanted his name. Ovechkin’s teammates also raced onto the ice following the record-setter, where he was mobbed and the game paused for more than ten minutes for an official celebration. Both benches emptied as the Capitals and Islanders lined up to shake Ovechkin’s hand.

Gretzky joined Ovechkin on the ice alongside Ovechkin’s mother, wife and children, as well as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, for a mid-game ceremony. Ovechkin said in a TV interview following the game: “What a moment for hockey, what a moment for my family, myself, this organization, my teammates. Obviously, it’s huge.” 

Ovechkin set the all time scoring record in his 20th NHL season, playing in 1,487 games.  At 39 years old, he is the second-oldest forward in the NHL this year. Gretzky, who was also in his 20th season when he scored his 894th goal, said: “They say that records are made to be broken, but I’m not sure who’s going to get more goals than that.”

As Ovechkin made his way to center ice and applauded the crowd for their support, he poignantly raised his gloves skyward making a gesture to his father Mikhail who died in 2023 at the age of 71. Ovechkin’s mother Tatyana told her son during the ceremony: “Your dad would have been so proud.” (per ESPN).

UConn defeats S. Carolina for record 12th NCAA women’s basketball title

The UConn Huskies defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks in a dominant 82-59 win at Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, on Sunday for a record 12th college women’s basketball championship. The Huskies are now the first Division I team with a dozen championships, all of which have come under head coach Geno Auriemma.

Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong scored 24 points apiece, while senior guard Paige Bueckers addeded in 17 points in the win. The second-seeded Huskies (37-3) outshot the No. 1 Gamecocks (35-4) 48.4% to 34.4%. They led by as many as 32 points. Huskies coach Auriemma said after the game: “It’s amazing to have three people like that on the same team. You would think Sarah was graduating the way she plays. But all three of them complement each other so well.”

Bueckers, who is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA Draft next month, will now turn pro after leading the Huskies to four Final Four appearances. Fudd, who made 9 of 17 shots, was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four. Strong, who collected 15 rebounds, five assists and three blocks, finished the tournament with 114 points, an NCAA record for a freshman.

Bueckers also became the Huskies’ all-time leader in career points in the NCAA tournament. Over her four-year decorated career with the Huskies, Bueckers scored 477 points in the tournament – the third-most in history, trailing only Caitlin Clark and Chamique Holdsclaw.

Zac Brown Band to headline NASCAR Chicago Street Race

NASCAR has announced that Zac Brown Band will headline the 2025 NASCAR Chicago Street Race, taking place at the new Busch Light Summer Series Stage, directly adjacent to the iconic Chicago Street Race Start/Finish line, following the NASCAR Xfinity Series race on Saturday, July 5th.

Brown said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to announce that Zac Brown Band will be performing at this summer’s NASCAR Chicago Street Race. It’s going to be an unreal weekend of racing and non-stop entertainment, so buckle up. You won’t want to miss NASCAR’s biggest party of the summer. Can’t wait to see you all in July!”

The Chicago Street Race concert will be one of five full-length concerts at NASCAR races throughout the country, as a part of the first-ever Busch Light Summer Music Series. Additional electrifying pre-race performances will take place at Texas Motor Speedway May 2-4, Michigan International Speedway June 7-8, Iowa Speedway August 2-3), and Busch Light’s hometown of St. Louis at World Wide Technology Raceway September 6-7.

All tickets to the NASCAR Chicago Street Race include access to the concerts, and fans with Sunday-only tickets will also be able to access the Saturday Zac Brown Band headlining concert.

Randy Travis extends ‘More Life Tour’ through fall 2025

Randy Travis has announced additional dates for his More Life Tour in 2025. Travis along with his original touring band and special guest vocalist James Dupré are ready to hit the road to perform Randy’s chart-topping hits, including “On the Other Hand,” “Forever and Ever, Amen,” and “Three Wooden Crosses.”

Although Travis does not perform vocally due to the effects of the stroke he survived in 2013, he does appear on stage with his wife, Mary — engaging with fans, and interacting with the band.  The newly added dates will kick-off Aug. 21 in Denver, and will make stops in Cedar Rapids, San Antonio, Green Bay and more before wrapping up on Nov. 22 in Orono, Maine.
