Houston Rockets acquire Kevin Durant from Phoenix Suns in blockbuster trade

Kevin Durant’s time with the Phoenix Suns has come to an end, as the team will complete a major trade deal to send the veteran forward to the Houston Rockets in return for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks (the 10th overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft) and five future second-round selections.

ESPN’s Shams Charania was first to report the news, writing on X: “BREAKING: The Phoenix Suns are trading two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks”

Per ESPN’s Bobby Marks, the deal will not be finalized until July 6 due to a restriction in Green’s rookie extension, which he signed last October. NBA insider Jake Fischer added that the second-round picks in the trade will stretch to 2032.

Durant, 36, found out about the trade’s completion while appearing at Fanatics Fest in New York, where he said: “Being part of the Houston Rockets, I’m looking forward to it. It’s a crazy, crazy couple weeks, but I’m glad it’s over with,” adding that the Suns asked him where he preferred to be traded: “I gave them some of my destinations, and here we are.”  Rumors in recent weeks said the Rockets, Heat and Spurs were his preferred destinations.

Durant will enter his 18th NBA season performing at a high level;  he posted averages of 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game while shooting an efficient 52.7% from the floor and 43% from beyond the arc in 2024-25.

Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton confirmed to have torn Achilles, could miss 2025-26 NBA season

It was confirmed Monday that Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton has suffered a torn right Achilles tendon, (per ESPN). Haliburton exited Game 7 of the NBA Finals early in the first quarter after suffering the injury; and the Pacers ultimately lost the series to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Haliburton initially suffered a right calf strain in Game 5 on Monday and was questionable for Game 7; he went on to start the deciding game of the NBA Finals strong in the first quarter, until seven minutes in when he sustained the injury. Haliburton was seen pounding his fist into the floor, yelling and crying due to the severity of the injury.

Haliburton became the third All-Star to tear his Achilles in these playoffs — Bucks star Damian Lillard did so in the first round, and Jayson Tatum of the Celtics suffered the injury in the second round. Both Lillard and Tatum will miss most or all of the 2025-26 season; and per sources, Haliburton is also expected to miss most (or all) of next season as well, though the team has not provided an official timeline.

Haliburton is a two-time All-Star and All-NBA selection. He was averaging 17.7 points and 9.0 assists per game in the playoffs entering Sunday’s season finale.

Lainey Wilson shares video for ‘Somewhere Over Laredo’

Lainey Wilson released her latest single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” written by Wilson, Trannie Anderson, Dallas Wilson and Andy Albert. See the Somewhere Over Laredo performance video – HERE.

The song honors “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, which Wilson talked about on CBS Mornings:  “I spend a lot of my time 30,000 feet in the air, flying to the next show, the next town, and you know when you’re staring out the window you get to just spend a little bit of time with yourself and reminisce and dream, talk to God, and all of those things and this song right here — it gave me an opportunity to kind of step back into a pair of shoes that I wore a long time ago .. And I’m partial, but this is one of my favorite songs that I have ever written, and, I mean, of course everybody is inspired by the song ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow,’ and we’ll see. It’s out now.”

Somewhere Over Laredo is Wilson’s first release since her “Whirlwind” CD came out last August; a deluxe version will be released on August 22nd (preorder HERE.)

Lainey also unveiled the official music video for “Somewhere Over Laredo,” directed by decorated filmmaker TK McKamy (Tim McGraw, Reba, Darius Rucker). An official video description reads: “Wilson embarks on a surreal adventure inspired by the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz. In pursuit of love lost, Wilson takes a trip down the yellow brick road through symbolic memories as a mysterious cowboy lures her deeper into a lucid dream.”

2025 ‘Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic’ raises $1.4 million for charity

The 21st edition of Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic, held May 30-31 at the Riverwind Casino in Norman, Okla., has raised $1.4 million for charity.

The Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic was started 21 years ago as a way to continue the foundation’s charitable endeavors. The event has raised a total of $20 million to date. Keith calls his charitable efforts “my best gift I’ve ever given to the world.” The country legend died on Feb. 5, 2024 after a two-year battle with stomach cancer.

The annual event raises money for the Toby Keith Foundation, which Keith started in 2006. Through that organization, Keith opened the OK Kids Korral in 2014 — an organization which still provides aid to children and families who are receiving medical care for critical illnesses.

The gala raised more than $100,000 in the first two minutes alone, per a press release. This year’s classic was hosted by Keith’s friend Sammy Hagar, who donated $10,000 during the annual gala. An additional $25,000 was donated by Keith’s widow Tricia Covel, as well as another generous $25,000 anonymous donation. Hagar said: “Now that’s the way to start a fundraiser! I had a blast … would be happy to do it again. Toby would’ve done that and more for me any day.”

In addition, a live auction generated $600,000, with items up for bids including a Toby Keith Limited Edition Military Guitar (which went for $35,000) and a cowboy hat autographed by George Strait, which sold for $7,000.

See Alison Brie and Dave Franco in the trailer for ‘Together’

Dave Franco and Alison Brie star in the trailer for Together, written and directed by Michael Shanks. The film is the latest project from the real-life couple.

The trailer, set to the song “Happy Together” by the Turtles, finds Brie’s character (Millie) as she appears to meet with a therapist to express that she and Franco’s character (Tim) “haven’t been on the same page” since a move to the countryside. While the couple are shown sharing a passionate kiss, their lips briefly get stuck together as if bound by glue. More strange and disturbing experiences suggest a supernatural force in or around their new home is binding the couple together.

A film synopsis reads: “Years into their relationship, Tim and Millie find themselves at a crossroads as they move to the country, abandoning all that is familiar in their lives except each other. With tensions already flaring, a nightmarish encounter with a mysterious, unnatural force threatens to corrupt their lives, their love and their flesh.”

Together will premiere in theaters July 30; see the trailer – HERE.

Reboot of ‘Prison Break’ casts Emily Browning, Lukas Gage, Drake Rodger

Hulu’s “Prison Break” reboot pilot has added three series regulars, and revealed the first character details.

Hailing from ‘Mayans M.C.’ co-creator Elgin James, the Prison Break reboot takes place in the same overall universe as the original series but will not feature the leading duo of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell).

Deadline confirms that Emily Browning, Lukas Gage and Drake Rodger have been cast as regulars in the Prison Break reboot. Browning will portray Cassidy Collins “an ex-soldier turned corrections officer, Collins takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America.” Gage will portray Jackson, “a politician from a well-to-do background, Jackson is in the midst of his first congressional campaign;” and Rodger portrays the role of Tommy, ‘an inmate at one of the deadliest prisons in America, Tommy was incarcerated ten years ago.’  Exact plot details are not being revealed as of press time.

The original Prison Break debuted in 2005, and followed  Scofield (Miller), a young man determined to prove his convicted brother Burrows’ (Purcell) innocence and save him from death row by hatching an elaborate plan to escape prison. The series aired on FOX for four seasons, followed by a made-for-TV film titled The Final Break which aired 12 days after the Season 4 finale in 2009.  In 2015, a Prison Break sequel limited series starring Miller and Purcell served as a fifth season on FOX. All episodes of the crime drama are available to stream on Hulu.
