Trailer for ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Begins’ features Paul McCartney, Questlove and more

Bleecker Street released the trailer for Spinal Tap II: The End Begins, the long-awaited sequel film which features cameo appearances from Paul McCartney and Elton John.

Spinal Tap II: The End Begins is a follow-up to the beloved 1984 mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap – based on fictional rock band Spinal Tap – starring Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer portraying the hapless heavy metal trio, all of whom are set to return to the second film.

The sequel picks up with the surviving Spinal Tap members falling on hard times. David St. Hubbins (Michael McKean) now plays with a mariachi band, while Derek Smalls (Harry Shearer) promotes cryptocurrency, and Nigel Tufnel plays with an Irish pub band.

Filmmaker Marty DiBergi (Rob Reiner) follows Spinal Tap on their farewell tour, with the trailer also revealing the last minute venue cancelation that landed them the gig.

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook to file lawsuit against Trump after firing

Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook says she has no plans to step down despite former President Donald Trump’s attempt to remove her from the central bank’s board, and announced that she will challenge his action with a lawsuit.

Cook said in a statement on Tuesday: “President Trump claims he fired me ‘for cause,’ but no such cause exists under the law, and he has no authority to remove me. I will not resign.” She emphasized that she intends to continue fulfilling her responsibilities, adding “I remain committed to supporting the U.S. economy as I have done since 2022.”

President Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday night stating that he was removing Cook effective immediately, sharing a letter in which he wrote: “pursuant to my authority under Article II of the Constitution of the United States and the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, as amended, you are hereby removed from your position on the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve, effective immediately.” The president cited a “criminal referral” from Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte, in which Pulte accused Cook of mortgage fraud. However under Section 10 of the Federal Reserve Act, the president does have the power to remove a governor “for cause.”

Pulte, who has been publicly raising allegations against Cook for more than a week, released a statement through the housing department on Monday. He also thanked Trump on social media, writing, “If you commit mortgage fraud in America, we will come after you, no matter who you are.” Cook, however, has not been charged with any crime.

Cooke has since hired attorney Abbe Lowell, who strongly disputed Trump’s move, saying: “President Trump has no authority to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, This action, based only on a referral letter and without evidence, has no legal or factual foundation. We will be filing a lawsuit to block this unlawful attempt.”

Currently, two of the seven sitting Fed governors were appointed by Trump. With former Governor Adriana Kugler resigning earlier this month, Trump already has one vacancy to fill. If Cook were forced out or chose to resign, Trump would be able to name another replacement—potentially shifting the balance of the Fed’s leadership toward his economic priorities.

Cleveland Browns release veteran wide receiver Diontae Johnson

Sources confirmed to ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday that the Cleveland Browns are parting ways with veteran wide receiver Diontae Johnson.

Johnson appeared to acknowledge the news with a brief post on X, writing, “Appreciate the opportunity regardless.”

Johnson entered the league as a third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and spent his first five seasons with the Steelers. His best campaign came in 2021, when he caught 107 passes for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns over 16 games, earning his first Pro Bowl nod.

The Browns acquired Johnson on a one-year, $1.7 million contract back in April. The veteran wideout had already been on the move multiple times, starting with a trade from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Carolina Panthers last offseason, followed by another deal that sent him to the Baltimore Ravens in October. His stint in Baltimore was short-lived—he was released in December before being picked up by the Houston Texans just three days later. Houston eventually cut ties with him as well in January.

Last year, Johnson appeared in 12 contests, finishing with 33 receptions for 375 yards and three scores. Across his career to this point, he has totaled 424 catches, 4,738 receiving yards, and 28 touchdowns through 89 games.

Cleveland’s receiving corps currently features Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash, Isaiah Bond, Kaden Davis, and Gage Larvadain. The Browns will kick off their regular season at home against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 7 at 1 p.m. ET.

Netflix releases first trailer for Season 5 of ‘Stranger Things’

After a three-year wait, Netflix is teasing the fifth and final season of Stranger Things with a first look trailer.

The official description of the new season reads: “The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”

The new season will be released in three parts: Volume 1 on Nov. 26 (consisting of four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas (three episodes) and The Finale on New Year’s Eve. Each will drop at 5 p.m. PT.

Back in January, co-creator Ross Duffer said about the final episodes, “We spent a full year filming this season. By the end, we’d captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane.”

Co-creator Matt Duffer added, “At the same time, we think it’s our most personal story. It was super intense and emotional to film, for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost 10 years. There was a lot of crying. There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion will translate to the screen.”

Starring in Season 5 are: Millie Bobbie Brown, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Priah Ferguson, Brett Gelman, Cara Buono, Amybeth McNulty, Nell Fisher, Jack Connelly, Alex Breaux and Linda Hamilton star.
