Paramount+ shares trailer for ‘Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now’ documentary

The feature-length documentary Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now will premiere on Paramount+  on Tuesday, October 7th.

The documentary, directed by Tania Alexander, was produced in collaboration with the Osbourne family. THe film chronicles Osbourne‘s six-year struggle to recuperate from a devastating 2019 fall; it is described as “an intimate look into the 76-year-old rock legend’s personal life since the injury that has colored much of his life in the years since.” Osbourne announced in 2023 that he had been forced to permanently cancel the European leg of his No More Tours II outing and retire from touring after a series of health problems which he damaged his spine. That incident was followed by diagnoses of Parkinson’s disease, and emphysema.

A press release stated: “This is Ozzy Osbourne like you’ve never seen before: an honest, warm and deeply personal portrait of one of the greatest rock stars of all-time, detailing how the singer’s world shuddered to a halt six years ago, forcing him to contemplate who he really is, confront his own mortality and question whether or not he can ever perform on stage for one last time. Addressing his health issues and impact of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the film showcases the central role music continues to play in Ozzy’s life – also proving his mischievous sense of humor remains resolutely intact despite it all.”

Ozzy: No Escape From Now also documents his journey to play the Back To The Beginning show at Villa Park in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, 2025. The documentary was in production prior to his death, and was never intended to be released posthumously (Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025). According to a press release, director Alexander began filming the doc in 2022, during recording sessions for Ozzy’s Patient Number 9 album. Ozzy said: “My fans have supported me for so many years, and I really want to thank them and say a proper goodbye to them. That is what the Villa Park show is about…The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through. There’s been times when I thought my number was up. But making music and making two albums saved me. I’d have gone nuts without music.”

The documentary will also feature Ozzy’s wife/manager Sharon Osbourne and the couple’s children: Aimee, Kelly and Jack. In addition, many of the singer’s friends and bandmates are featured, including: Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo and James Hetfield (Metallica), Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan (Tool), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Ozzy’s longstanding guitarist Zakk Wylde, Tom Morello (Rage Against The Machine), Mike Inez (Alice In Chains), Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), producer Andrew Watt, and friend/musician Billy Morrison.

Sharon Osbourne shared: “This film is an honest account of what has happened to Ozzy during the last few years. It shows how hard things have been for him and the courage he has shown while dealing with a number of serious health issues, including Parkinson’s. It’s about the reality of his life now. We have worked with a production team we trust and have allowed them the freedom to tell the story openly. We hope that story will inspire people that are facing similar issues to Ozzy.”

Charlie Kirk shooting suspect charged with murder, additional charges; prosecutors seeking death penalty

The man accused of assassinating conservative influencer Charlie Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10 has been charged with murder.

Tyler Robinson, 22, faces a slew of offenses: felony aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, two counts of felony obstruction of justice, two counts of witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child. Prosecutors announced their intent to seek the death penalty in the case; Robinson is being held without bail at Utah County Jail.

Jeff Gray, the Utah County attorney, said at an afternoon news conference: “The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy. Charlie Kirk was murdered while engaging in one of our most sacred and cherished American rights, the bedrock of our democratic republic, the free exchange of ideas and a search for truth, understanding and a more perfect union. It is also an offense against the state and to the peace and enjoyment of the people of Utah and of all those who visit here.”

Robinson also made a virtual court appearance before a judge at the Utah Fourth District Court on Tuesday afternoon, appearing for the first time since being arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting Kirk.

Robinson appeared emotionless as Judge Tony Graf Jr. read the charges against him, speaking only when asked to state his name, and nodding when Graf told him he would remain jailed without bail. Robinson has not yet been appointed an attorney; his next hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sept. 29.

The judge also issued a protective order for Charlie Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk which bars Robinson from contacting her and warns of additional charges if he violates the order.

Judge dismisses two state murder charges against Luigi Mangione, accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO

A Manhattan judge dismissed two murder charges related to acts of terrorism against Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing in New York City, where Judge Gregory Carro dismissed the most serious charge against him — ruling that first-degree murder in furtherance of an act of terrorism was not supported by the evidence.  Mangione still faces a second-degree murder charge in New York, along with separate federal murder charges. Although New York does not impose capital punishment, Mangione could face the death penalty in his federal case.

Prosecutors had argued that Mangione’s actions were intended to intimidate or pressure UnitedHealthcare employees, but Judge Carro ruled those claims fell short of what is required under New York’s terrorism laws. The judge wrote in a decision issued on Tuesday morning that “while the defendant was clearly expressing an animus toward UHC, and the health care industry generally, it does not follow that his goal was to ‘intimidate and coerce a civilian population,’ and indeed, there was no evidence presented of such a goal .. While the People place great emphasis on [the] defendant’s ‘ideological’ motive, there is no indication in the statute that a murder committed for ideological reasons (in this case, the defendant’s apparent desire to draw attention to what he perceived as inequities or greed within the American health care system), fits within the definition of terrorism without establishing the necessary element of an intent to intimidate or coerce.”

In response to the ruling, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said in a statement, “We respect the court’s decision and will move forward on the remaining nine charges, including second-degree murder.”

Mangione is accused of fatally shooting Brian Thompson, the 50-year-old CEO of UnitedHealthcare, outside a midtown Manhattan hotel on December 4, 2024.  In addition to the New York and federal cases, Mangione faces charges in Pennsylvania, including forgery, illegal possession of a firearm, tampering with documents, providing false identification to police, and possession of instruments of crime. He has pleaded not guilty to all accusations, and is currently being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.

Mangione’s defense team has also filed motions to suppress items taken from his backpack – which allegedly contained a firearm, ammunition, and handwritten notes – and are further challenging the admissibility of statements Mangione made to police after his arrest on December 9 at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Mangione’s attorneys claim the backpack search was conducted without a warrant, and that he was questioned without being read his Miranda rights. Judge Carro has not yet ruled on those issues.

Dallas Wings’ Paige Bueckers named 2025 WBNA Rookie of the Year

Former UConn standout Paige Bueckers was officially named the 2025 WBNA Rookie of the Year on Tuesday, making Bueckers the seventh former UConn player to win the award.

Now with the Dallas Wings, Bueckers received 70 of the possible 72 first-place votes for the honor. Sonia Cintron of the Washington Mystics received the other two. Bueckers is the first Wings player since Allisha Gray (in 2017) to be awarded Rookie of the Year.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert surprised Bueckers before her appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” on Tuesday. The WNBA later confirmed the news in a press release, posting on X: “Paige Bueckers is the 2025 WNBA @Kia Rookie of the Year 🏆 Averaging 19.2 PPG, 5.4 APG, 3.9 RPG, Bueckers led the @dallaswings as one of the most dynamic rookies the league has ever seen.#KiaROY | #WelcometotheW”

Bueckers was ranked as the No. 1 women’s player in 2020 before heading to UConn, where she was a three-time unanimous first team All-American selection in college, and won the Naismith College Player of the Year award in 2021.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, Bueckers went on to set a new franchise rookie scoring record while averaging 19.2 points per game. The 23-year-old averaged 19.2 points, 5.4 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game, and her 692 points and 192 assists ranks third all-time among WNBA rookies. In addition, Bueckers’ 44 points against the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 2 set a WNBA single-game rookie record after she made 17 of 21 shots from the field (81%) — becoming the first player in WNBA history to score 40 or more points and shoot at least 80% from the field in a game.

Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood appear on the soundtrack ‘SpinalTap II: The End Continues’

Elton John, Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood all appear on “The End Continues,” the soundtrack to the sequel film “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.”

The album was released in conjunction with the movie’s debut and features nine all-new songs, as well as four new takes on classic Spinal Tap tracks. The 13-track set includes nine brand new songs and four reinvented favorites.

Elton John contributes to two songs on the album, including the band’s popular cut, “Stonehenge.” “Stonehenge” was originally released on the group’s first album, This Is Spinal Tap, alongside the initial 1984 film, directed by Rob Reiner. In the cult classic, Spinal Tap orders a massive, 18-foot replica of the Stonehenge but instead receives an 18-inch one.

The reimagined rendition of “Stonehenge” arrives alongside a music video, in which John appears after the song’s opening monologue, as he rises from below the stage at a piano to perform the most of the lead vocals. See the video of ‘Stonehenge’ – HERE.
