Radiohead announce ‘Hail to the Thief Live Recordings 2003-2009’

Radiohead will release a new live album featuring concert versions of songs from their 2003 album, Hail to the Thief, released in 2003 as Radiohead’s sixth album.

The album, mixed by Ben Baptie and mastered by Matt Colton, features performances recorded in Amsterdam, Buenos Aires, Dublin and London between 2003 and 2009. You can watch the band’s 2009 performance of “There, There” from Buenos Aires – HERE.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke said: “In the process of thinking of how to build arrangements for the Shakespeare Hamlet/Hail To The Thief theatre production. I asked to hear some archive live recordings of the songs. I was shocked by the kind of energy behind the way we played. I barely recognised us, and it helped me find a way forward. We decided to get these live recordings mixed and released (it would have been insane to keep them for ourselves). It has all been a very cathartic process. We very much hope you enjoy them.”

The album is available now to stream, and fans can pre-order the one-off vinyl pressing in limited-edition red colorway from independent record stores or in black or cyan vinyl from the band’s online store; the vinyl is due out on Oct. 31, click here to pre-order.

White House says Oracle will oversee TikTok security for U.S. users

Per AP News: The White House confirmed Monday that software giant Oracle would take charge of safeguarding TikTok’s U.S. operations under a pending divestment plan, including management of a licensed version of the app’s powerful recommendation algorithm.

The joint venture with Oracle will keep TikTok’s operations in the United States, with a majority control of it board of directors being Americans, as confirmed to CNN and USA Today.

The future of TikTok’s algorithm — still owned by Beijing-based ByteDance — has been a central sticking point in negotiations over whether the app can continue operating in the United States. Lawmakers and national security officials have long warned that the system, which determines what videos users see, could be exploited by the Chinese government to influence public opinion in subtle but significant ways.

The arrangement would resolve security concerns if TikTok formally separates from its parent company. The move stems from bipartisan legislation signed in the final weeks of President Joe Biden’s term, requiring ByteDance to either sell its American assets to a U.S. firm or face an outright ban.

Under the deal, Oracle would receive a licensed copy of TikTok’s algorithm, oversee its security protocols, and conduct continuous monitoring for any irregular activity. The White House official said the system would be fully inspected and then retrained with U.S. user data to ensure it performs as intended.

While it remains unclear whether retraining would effectively create a separate version of TikTok for American users, press secretary Karoline Leavitt stressed that international visibility would not be lost. “TikTok users in the U.S. will still be able to view content from overseas, and users abroad will continue to see American videos,” she told reporters.

The administration plans to formalize the arrangement later this week. Once President Trump signs an executive order endorsing the deal, China is expected to approve a parallel framework, triggering a 120-day grace period for both governments to finalize terms. The White House confirmed that the federal government will not hold an equity position in the venture or seek representation on its governing committee. Final approval of the framework agreement still depends on Chinese regulators.

Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl announces retirement after 11 seasons

Longtime Auburn men’s basketball coach Bruce Pearl announced that he is retiring, and will move into an ambassador’s role in the athletic department as special assistant to the athletics director. The school announced Monday that Pearl’s son Steven Pearl, who was serving as the Tigers’ associate head coach, signed a five-year contract as the program’s new head coach.

Pearl, 65, announced his decision on the heels of his best season at Auburn and roughly six weeks from the start of Auburn’s new basketball season on Nov. 3. He made his announcement in an emotion video released on social media by Auburn.

Pearl said: “For me, it’s time. I’ve been a part of college basketball for almost 50 years. And the truth is, it’s time. I told myself that when I got to the point where I could not give it my all, where I wasn’t necessarily 100% or I couldn’t be the relentless competitor that you expected of me, that it was going to be time. As hard as it is to say this, I reached the realization that it’s time for me to step aside.”  He also alluded to Steven taking his place, saying:“The DNA of this program, it won’t be changing. I am incredibly confident in the future of this basketball program.”

Pearl went on to downplay speculation that he was considering a run for the U.S. Senate, declaring that he would instead remain around the Auburn program and that he looks “forward to the opportunity to continue serving the Auburn family. Many of you know that I thought and prayed about maybe running for the United States Senate, maybe to be the next great senator from the state of Alabama. That would have required leaving Auburn. And instead, the university has given me an opportunity to stay here and be Auburn’s senator.”

Pearl, 65, has been head coach at Auburn for 11 seasons, going 246-125 and leading the Tigers to six NCAA tournament appearances and both of the program’s Final Four runs. During Pearl’s time at Auburn, the Tigers earned at least a share of three SEC regular-season titles and won two SEC tournament championships. Steven, 38, has been an assistant under Pearl during his tenure at Auburn and played for his father as a reserve forward at Tennessee. He has no previous head coaching experience. Auburn did not disclose the terms of his deal.

Pearl previously served as the head coach at Milwaukee for four seasons, and Tennessee for six seasons. He retires with a 477-224 Division I record (.680) as an NCAA head coach. He was a three-time Horizon League Coach of the Year at Milwaukee and was named SEC Coach of the Year four times, twice each at Tennessee and Auburn.

San Francisco 49ers’ Nick Bosa has torn ACL, will miss remainder of season

The San Francisco 49ers confirmed Monday that defensive star Nick Bosa has torn the ACL in his right knee and will require surgery. The Pro Bowler had left Sunday’s 16-15 win over the Arizona Cardinals with a right knee injury, and did not return. Initial tests done by the team’s training staff came back negative, but after an MRI on Monday, it was determined Bosa tore his ACL and will miss the rest of the 2025 NFL season.

Sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter: “Tests today showed that 49ers Pro Bowl DE Nick Bosa suffered a season-ending torn ACL during Sunday’s win over Arizona. It’s a clean tear, but Bosa now will need season-ending surgery.”

Bosa’s injury occurred while he was pressuring quarterback Kyler Murray from the left edge. After initial contact with left tackle Kelvin Beachum, Bosa was hit by guard Evan Brown in a double-team and fell on the field.  Head coach Kyle Shanahan had told reporters on Sunday that it wasn’t a confirmed tear, but the team feared the worst: “There is concern because of how he feels. Usually, the tests are conclusive one way or another, and this time they weren’t. We were still worried and waiting on the MRI.”

Bosa had been off to a strong start with two sacks, 15 tackles, eight quarterback pressures, and a 21.9% pass-rush win rate. The latest injury for Bosa marks the second time in his career that he has suffered a season-ending ACL injury. He previously tore the ligament in his left knee during a Week 2 game against the New York Jets in 2020. Back in 2015, as a high school senior, he also sustained a partial ACL tear in the same right knee.

‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ renewed for Season 3 on AMC

“The Walking Dead: Dead City” has been renewed for Season 3 at AMC; production begins in Boston, Mass., this fall.

Dead City is set in a post-apocalyptic New York where Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) encounter new gangs of survivors, and many more zombies. Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, said in a statement: “We’re thankful to Eli Jorné for two seasons of ‘Dead City’ that took the story of these iconic characters in exciting new directions and broadened this thriving Universe by introducing a new corner of the walker apocalypse. ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ returning to ABC on Tuesday after show’s suspension

ABC announced on Monday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” will return to the air on Tuesday night.

A spokesperson for the Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, said in a statement: “Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country. It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive. We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”

“Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was abruptly taken off the air last week, after Federal Communications Commission Chair Brendan Carr threatened to revoke ABC affiliate licenses over Kimmel’s comments about the MAGA movement’s response to conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Kirk, 31, is the founder of Turning Point USA, and was killed on Sept. 10 during an event at Utah Valley University.

Earlier on Monday, more than 400 entertainers came forward in support of Kimmel with the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) releasing an open letter defending Kimmel’s right to free expression. The statement, signed by hundreds of well-known actors and performers, voiced “solidarity” with both Kimmel and the ACLU’s broader defense of the First Amendment.

The letter began: “We the people must never accept government threats to our freedom of speech. Efforts by leaders to pressure artists, journalists, and companies with retaliation for their speech strike at the heart of what it means to live in a free country. Last week, Jimmy Kimmel was taken off the air after the government threatened a private company with retaliation, marking a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation. In an attempt to silence its critics, our government has resorted to threatening the livelihoods of journalists, talk show hosts, artists, creatives, and entertainers across the board. This runs counter to the values our nation was built upon, and our Constitution guarantees.”

The letter went on to recognize others who “are also facing direct attacks on their freedom of expression,” such as “teachers, government employees, law firms, researchers, universities, students and so many more. Regardless of our political affiliation, or whether we engage in politics or not, we all love our country. We also share the belief that our voices should never be silenced by those in power – because if it happens to one of us, it happens to all of us … This is the moment to defend free speech across our nation. We encourage all Americans to join us, along with the ACLU, in the fight to defend and preserve our constitutionally protected rights.”

The list of signatories includes some of Hollywood’s most recognizable figures: Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, and Tom Hanks, as well as Disney-connected stars such as Selena Gomez, Pedro Pascal, Diego Luna, Martin Short, and Meryl Streep. Others lending their names include Jason Bateman, Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Rodrigo, Ben Stiller, Jean Smart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Michael Keaton, Regina King, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Natalie Portman, Maya Rudolph, Mark Ruffalo, and Kerry Washington.

Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar Media’s broadcast division, called Kimmel’s remarks “offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse”. Nexstar, the country’s largest local broadcast and digital media group, owns more than 200 TV stations across 116 markets. Alford argued that Kimmel’s commentary did not represent the views of the diverse communities Nexstar serves. “Continuing to give Mr. Kimmel a broadcast platform in the communities we serve is simply not in the public interest at the current time,” he said. “We have made the difficult decision to preempt his show in an effort to let cooler heads prevail as we move toward the resumption of respectful, constructive dialogue.”
