Hurricanes defeat Golden Knights in Game 4 of Stanley Cup Final to even series 2-2

The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 5-3 in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final to tie the series at 2-2. Captain Jordan Staal led the charge for Carolina with two goals—including the game-winner in the third period—while goalie Brandon Bussi secured the win in his first career postseason start.

Facing the possibility of falling into a 3-1 series deficit, Carolina turned to Bussi for his first career playoff start after Frederik Andersen was scratched. The move paid off as Bussi stopped 18 shots, while the Hurricanes built early leads of 2-0 and 3-1. Logan Stankoven and Jackson Blake also scored, and Nikolaj Ehlers added a goal and two assists.

Vegas erased a two-goal deficit during the second period, getting goals from Mark Stone, William Karlsson and Brett Howden, whose 14th postseason goal tied for the playoff lead. But with the score even at 3-3, Staal put Carolina ahead for good when he converted a backhand while falling to the ice midway through the third period. Ehlers sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

The 37-year-old Staal continued his remarkable series, becoming the first player since Mike Bossy in 1982 to score in each of the first four games of a Stanley Cup Final. Carolina improved to 8-1 following playoff losses this spring and again avoided consecutive defeats, something it has not experienced since January.

The best-of-seven championship series now shifts back to North Carolina for Game 5 on Thursday, June 10, 2026 at the Lenovo Center. Puck drop is set for 8:00 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on ABC.

Crew safely rescued after U.S. military helicopter goes down near Strait of Hormuz; Trump vows response to attack

A U.S. Army AH-64 Apache helicopter went down near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, prompting an investigation into what caused the aircraft to be lost during operations in one of the world’s most strategically sensitive waterways. UU.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the two crew members were rescued and remained in stable condition after the incident off the coast of Oman.

The incident occurred amid renewed tensions involving Iran, Israel and the United States following recent exchanges of military strikes that have strained efforts to preserve a fragile ceasefire. The Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global energy shipments, has remained a focal point of regional security concerns throughout the conflict.

Military officials said the helicopter’s crew was located in the water and recovered within roughly two hours. The rescue marked a notable operational milestone, as a U.S. Navy unmanned surface vessel from the 5th Fleet’s Task Force 59 was used to help find and retrieve the soldiers before they were transferred to a helicopter for extraction. Officials described it as the first known rescue of its kind involving the Navy’s maritime drone program.

Questions remained Tuesday over whether the helicopter was brought down by hostile fire, suffered a mechanical failure or encountered another problem. President Donald Trump told reporters that the pilots were “fine” and said additional information would be released after officials completed an initial review. Later, Trump attributed the incident to hostile Iranian actions, using his social media platform to announce the development and promise a decisive response from Washington. “I have just been informed by our Great Military that last night the Iranians shot down one of our highly sophisticated Apache Helicopters while patrolling over the Strait of Hormuz,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. While expressing relief over the safety of the crew, the president emphasized the gravity of the encounter, stating, “There were two pilots involved, both are safe and uninjured. Nevertheless, the United States must, of necessity, respond to this attack.”

The loss of the Apache comes as U.S. forces maintain an elevated presence across the region and diplomatic efforts to ease tensions continue. While Iran acknowledged reports of the incident, it did not immediately provide details. U.S. authorities said investigators would interview the crew and examine available evidence before determining what caused the helicopter to go down.

Nick Reiner seeking access to $1.5M trust fund to finance legal defense in parents’ killings

Nick Reiner, the 32-year-old son of late Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has petitioned a Los Angeles probate court to release money from an independent trust fund to pay for his legal representation and basic incarceration costs. Reiner is currently jailed awaiting trial on two counts of first-degree murder for the stabbing deaths of his parents at their Brentwood estate in December 2025. He has entered a plea of not guilty to the double homicide charges.

According to a petition filed by Reiner’s legal counsel, Anita P. Wu and Geoffrey A. Neri, the trust was originally established for him in 1993. Legal filings indicate that according to mandatory parameters set by his parents, half of the trust should have been distributed unconditionally when Reiner reached the age of 30, with the remaining portion scheduled for disbursement when he turns 35. The defense asserts that the financial manager of the fund has withheld the required funds and failed to disclose the total valuation, which Reiner alleges exceeds $1.5 million.

His attorneys contend trustee Paul R. Kanin has improperly withheld the funds based on concerns about Reiner’s competency, despite no court ruling declaring him legally incapacitated. High-profile defense attorney Alan Jackson originally spearheaded Reiner’s legal team but formally withdrew from the proceedings on Jan. 7 after the defendant ran out of funds to sustain his private counsel. Reiner is currently relying on an assigned public defender, but he intends to re-engage Jackson’s firm if the probate court forces the release of his inheritance. The filed petition highlights that “Nick loved his parents, and he is devastated by their deaths. But the facts about what did and did not happen to them are not at issue in this Trust litigation. Like anyone accused of a crime, Nick is presumed innocent, and he is entitled to mount his defense with the resources that are lawfully his own.”

In addition, the petition noted that Reiner requires financial resources to maintain his jail commissary account, characterizing the ongoing denial of resources as an error in oversight by the trustee, stating, “Given the present circumstances, it is an abuse of the Trustee’s discretion to refuse those requests. Nick is currently awaiting trial on double homicide charges. No use of his funds could be more important.”

The ongoing criminal proceedings have progressed slowly through the California court system following Reiner’s arrest, which occurred hours after authorities discovered his 78-year-old father and 70-year-old mother dead on Dec. 14. Separate background details from individuals with knowledge of the investigation indicate that Reiner had experienced modifications to his prescribed medication for schizophrenia prior to the fatal encounter.

Prosecutors have not yet decided whether to seek the death penalty if Reiner is convicted. Much of the criminal case remains under seal, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September. The dispute over the trust will proceed separately from the murder case. Representatives for the trustee and Reiner’s siblings, Jake and Romy, have not issued official statements regarding the brewing probate fight.

Cleveland Browns’ guard Joel Bitonio announces retirement from NFL after 12 seasons

Seven-time Pro Bowl guard Joel Bitonio announced his retirement Tuesday, bringing to a close a 12-year NFL career spent entirely with the Cleveland Browns. The 34-year-old, selected in the second round of the 2014 draft out of Nevada, started all 178 games he played and became the franchise’s longest-tenured player since the Browns returned in 1999.

At a Tuesday press conference in Berea, Ohio, Bitonio appeared alongside his wife, Courtney, and their three children, who all wore his signature No. 75 jersey. Reflecting on the finality of his decision, Bitonio revealed that he knew his playing days were over shortly after the conclusion of the 2025 season, but continued visiting the team facility while rehabbing injuries before finalizing his decision.

In a heartfelt farewell letter published on the franchise’s website, Bitonio addressed his decision to remain a lifelong member of the organization instead of moving to a title contender late in his career: “Truthfully, as time passed and my career kept going, there was never a point where I could envision myself in a different uniform. Wearing that orange helmet and being part of this franchise — from getting drafted to signing three contracts — I felt a loyalty to the Browns, and it gave me a sense of pride to represent a fan base who is consistently loyal to us. I started the job here, and once I got to a certain point, I knew I wanted to finish the job in Cleveland. Now that job is finished. After 12 seasons of wearing No. 75 in brown and orange, I have officially decided to retire … when I looked at my career and all that I had achieved — the All-Pros, Pro Bowls, snap streaks and playoff appearances — there was only one thing left that I still hoped to accomplish: a Super Bowl. A small part of me thought about wanting to chase that dream, but at the end of the day, my heart was set on being a Cleveland Brown for life. This city was where my NFL career was supposed to start and finish. For that dream to be a reality, I could not be more grateful.”

General manager Andrew Berry praised Bitonio’s leadership, consistency and impact on the organization, while noting the team gave him additional time to make his decision by extending the void date on his contract. He lauded Bitonio’s career as Canton-bound, confirming his eventual induction into the team’s Ring of Honor.

Selected by Cleveland in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft with the 35th overall pick, Bitonio developed into one of the league’s premier interior blockers. He garnered seven Pro Bowl selections and five All-Pro honors, including first-team nods in 2021 and 2022. Renowned for his durability and pass-protection prowess, Bitonio amassed 178 career starts, surpassing Hall of Famer Joe Thomas for the most starts by any Browns player since the franchise was reactivated in 1999. His high level of play extended through his final season in 2025, where analytics ranked him among the league’s top-performing guards in pass block win rate.

Beyond his on-field execution, Bitonio was highly regarded for his leadership and community involvement, serving as Cleveland’s longest-tenured captain. He earned the team’s Walter Payton Man of the Year nomination in 2022 and was twice honored with the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award.

Bailey Zimmerman has officially released his cover of The Climb, the inspirational ballad made famous by Miley Cyrus in her ‘Hannah Montana’ era.

The song first gained momentum during Zimmerman’s debut arena run, the ‘Different Night Same Rodeo Tour,’ where he began performing it live. Audience reaction quickly turned the cover into a standout moment of the show, spreading widely across social media and becoming a fan favorite.

Originally written by Jessi Alexander and John Shanks, “The Climb” debuted in the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie, part of Cyrus’s breakout Disney franchise that ran from 2006 to 2011 alongside her father, Billy Ray Cyrus.

Zimmerman’s latest elease follows his recent collaboration “Just Believe” with Grammy-winning Christian artist Brandon Lake and continues the momentum of his latest 18-track album, which inspired the title of his ongoing ‘The Different Night Same Rodeo Tour.’  The tour spans across 30 North American dates before heading to Europe later this summer, with stops including major cities like London, Dublin, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, before wrapping in Oslo. Rising artists Hudson Westbrook, Blake Whiten, and Chandler Walters are joining as supporting acts on select legs.

Elisabeth Moss has signed on to star in Hulu’s new legal drama Conviction, marking another major collaboration between Moss and the platform following The Handmaid’s Tale (which ran for six seasons from 2017-2025.)

Based on a 2023 novel by Jack Jordan, Conviction centers on Neve Harper, a driven defense attorney played by Moss. Her career takes a pivotal turn when she lands a high-stakes murder case—but things quickly spiral as she becomes the target of blackmail, forcing her to make difficult choices that could expose her own hidden past.

The official description explains: “Moss will play Neve Harper, a defense attorney who finally has her shot at a career-making case: a high-profile murder where the husband is accused of killing his wife by setting their home on fire,” tBut when a mysterious stranger begins blackmailing Neve, she is forced to compromise every legal, moral, and ethical obligation to gain an acquittal — or else risk her dark secrets being exposed.”

The project is written and overseen by David Shore, known for creating House and The Good Doctor. He also executive produces alongside Moss, Warren Littlefield, and Bert Salke, with the show produced by 20th Television.

Conviction adds to Moss’s ongoing work with Hulu, where she also executive produces the series The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale. She can also currently be seen alongside Kerry Washington and Kata Mara in Apple TV’s Imperfect Women, which premiered in March.

Weezer to release self-titled album, reveals new track “We Might As Well Be Strangers”

Weezer has announced their new self-titled album, scheduled for release on Aug. 21. The 10-track project has been nicknamed the ‘Gold Album’ by fans and media due to its distinctive metallic cover art. This marks the 20th full-length record of the band’s career and serves as the latest addition to their color-themed discography, which already includes the blue, green, red, white, teal, and black albums.

Produced by Klas Åhlund and Kenneth Blume, the upcoming record is Weezer’s first full-length album since 2021’s Van Weezer and OK Human, following the band’s four-part SZNZ EP series.

The album announcement arrived alongside the debut of the album’s lead single, “We Might As Well Be Strangers,” which features guest vocals from Karly Hartzman of the indie rock band Wednesday. The song was released with an accompanying music video as the band unveiled details of the project. The album includes Rivers Cuomo’s first songwriting collaboration with drummer Pat Wilson since the band’s debut era. The track list includes “Say Yes,” “Shine Again,” “Don’t Make It Weird,” “C.E.O.,” “Hoops,” “Nowhere,” “The Show Must Go On,” “Up In The Clouds” and “The LA Sound.”

To support the launch of the new LP, Weezer is scheduled to embark on a 32-date North American concert series labeled The Gathering tour this autumn. The tour is set to begin on September 8 in Sacramento, California, and will feature opening performances from alternative acts The Shins and Silversun Pickups.

Sublime shares the track ‘Gangstalker’ from upcoming album

Sublime released its latest single titled “Gangstalker,” continuing the roll-out for the group’s highly anticipated return to recorded music. The song is the third promotional track pulled from the California group’s forthcoming full-length studio release.

The release arrives as Sublime continues its revived chapter featuring surviving members alongside Jakob Nowell, son of late frontman Bradley Nowell, who has taken on vocal duties in the group’s current form. The reconfigured lineup has been gradually introducing new material while also revisiting the band’s legacy catalog.

The upcoming album, Until The Sun Explodes, is scheduled to arrive on June 12 via Atlantic Records. The project holds significant historical weight for the band, representing their first collection of entirely original material in three decades, as well as their debut full-length studio record featuring vocalist Jakob Nowell at the helm.

In a statement regarding the creation of the track, Nowell expressed immense satisfaction with how the instrumentation came together during the recording process. “Gangstalker is pure chaos,” Nowell said. “I was so proud when the drum and guitar parts came together the way that they did in the studio. Sometimes you have this idea for how a song should sound in your head and it becomes impossible to translate that into reality. Gangstalker is not one of those songs. It is a frenetic, California tweaker, punk anthem that I fully endorse with my life.”

The premiere of the fast-paced single follows the release of previous tracks “Can’t Miss You” and the album’s title track. The unveiling of the new music also arrives on the heels of the veteran ska-punk outfit making their live performance debut in the United Kingdom during the recent Slam Dunk festival.

Madonna shares ‘Confessions II – The Film’ tied to her upcoming album

Madonna has released Confessions II – The Film, a short-form visual project tied to her upcoming album Confessions II, giving fans an extended preview of the record ahead of its July 3 release. The film debuted at the Tribeca Festival in New York before becoming available globally on YouTube, continuing the rollout for what serves as a follow-up to her 2005 dance album Confessions on a Dance Floor.

Directed by the creative duo TORSO, the film runs just over 10 minutes and incorporates the first six songs from the new album, including “I Feel So Free,” “Good for the Soul,” “One Step Away,” “Bring Your Love” with Sabrina Carpenter, “Danceteria,” and “Read My Lips.” Rather than presenting separate music videos, the project unfolds as a continuous narrative that blends music, choreography and cinematic imagery.

The production features a lengthy list of guest appearances, including Sabrina Carpenter, Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Gwendoline Christie, Debi Mazar, Richard E. Grant, Odessa A’Zion and Madonna’s daughter, Lourdes Leon. One sequence pairs Madonna and Carpenter on “Bring Your Love,” while another places several celebrity guests inside a nightclub bathroom setting for “Danceteria.” Garner’s appearance also references the long-discussed Madonna biopic in which she had been cast to portray the singer.

Released more than four decades into her career, Confessions II – The Film serves as both a promotional companion to the forthcoming album and a statement on Madonna’s continued embrace of large-scale visual storytelling. The project arrives as her first studio album campaign in several years and reinforces the connection between the new record and the dance-pop sound that made Confessions on a Dance Floor a global success.
