LA Angels’ Mike Trout ‘day-to-day’ after getting hit by pitch on hand in Sunday’s win vs. the Texas Rangers

The Los Angeles Angels said on Sunday that star player Mike Trout is ‘day-to-day’ after he was hit in the left hand by a pitch in Sunday’s 8-3 win over the Texas Rangers. Luckily, x-rays on Trout’s hand were negative. The 30-year-old Trout played only 36 games last season due to a calf injury.

Trout was hit in the left hand by an 81 mph slider thrown by Rangers pitcher Spencer Patton in the fifth inning. After he was examined by trainers before leaving, he was replaced by Brandon Marsh for the remainder of the game. Trout is batting .267 so far this season with two home runs; before leaving Sunday’s game, he was 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI.
