Utah Jazz Defeat New Orleans Pelicans 106-104 In NBA Restart Opening Game

The Utah Jazz beat the New Orleans Pelicans 106-104 as the NBA restarted on an emotional evening inside the Orlando bubble.

Rudy Gobert broke a tie by making two free throws with 6.9 seconds left. The Jazz rallied in the fourth-quarter rally where they outscored the Pelicans 27-17.

The Pelicans and Jazz knelt along the sideline behind the words “Black Lives Matter” printed on the court during the “Star-Spangled Banner.” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement, “I respect our teams’ unified act of peaceful protest for social justice and under these unique circumstances will not enforce our long-standing rule requiring standing during the playing of our national anthem.” Silver’s statement marks a shift in policy for the NBA, whose rules stated that players must stand for the national anthem.
