Rihanna shares the music video for “Lift Me Up”

Rihanna has released the official video for “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever original soundtrack.  The three-and-a-half-minute video is comprised of scenes of Rihanna solo, singing on a sunset-lit beach as well as scenes from the upcoming Black Panther sequel.

“Lift Me Up” is not only the lead single for the official Wakanda Forever soundtrack, but also a musical tribute to the late actor Chadwick Boseman, who starred as T’Challa in the original blockbuster film. Officials confirmed that seven people were hospitalized in southern Missouri after an amusement park train derailed from its tracks. The seven individuals transported to nearby hospitals included six guests and one staff member at Silver Dollar City, a theme park in Branson near the Arkansas border.

Few details are known about the circumstances surrounding the accident, although the park said in a statement that the derailment occurred as the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train, one of its attractions, was completing its usual route. Silver Dollar City wrote in a statement posted on Facebook and Twitter: “Silver Dollar City confirmed that earlier this evening, sections of the Frisco Silver Dollar Line Steam Train derailed from the track. Onsite paramedics provided emergency care until first responders arrived. Six guests and one employee have been transported by ambulance to nearby medical facilities. At this time, we are wholeheartedly focused on providing support for guests and team members in partnership with Stone County first responders. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.”

The Missouri Division of Fire Safety confirmed that personnel from its amusement park ride unit responded to the scene after the train derailed, and said an investigation into what caused the accident is underway.

Jan. 6 rioter who dragged D.C. Police Officer into crowd sentenced to 7.5 years in prison

On Thursday, a Jan. 6 rioter who dragged former D.C. Police Officer Michael Fanone into the crowd on the steps of the U.S. Capitol was sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison. 43-year-old Albuquerque Head from Tennessee was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison, one of the longest sentences to date in the Capitol riot cases. Head will get credit for the roughly 18 months he’s spent locked up already.

Head dragged Fanone into the mob on Jan. 6 while yelling “I got one!” and used a police shield to push against a line of police officers in the western-facing tunnel of the U.S. Capitol, where some of the most violent acts of the insurrection took place. He pleaded guilty to a felony charge of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers. Fanone suffered a heart attack and traumatic brain injury in the Jan. 6 assault, and ended up resigning from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fanone urged Judge Amy Berman Jackson to sentence Head to the maximum, saying that Head had cut his career in law enforcement short.  Judge Amy Berman Jackson called Head’s actions “some of the darkest acts committed on one of our nation’s darkest days.” She described former Officer Fanone as Head’s “prey” and his “trophy.” She also described Fanone as “protecting America” during the riot.

Fanone has testified before the Jan. 6 committee and recently wrote a book about the insurrection, but said the injuries he received has left him devastated that he lost his career in law enforcement:  “I would trade all of this attention to return to policing,” he said. “But I can’t do that.”

Kansas City Chiefs to acquire NY Giants WR Kadarius Toney in trade

The New York Giants agreed to trade wide receiver Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for two selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. The Chiefs will send the Giants a compensatory third-round pick and a sixth-round pick in exchange for the second-year wide receiver. Toney must pass a physical to complete the transaction.

Giants coach Brian Daboll also confirmed the trade, telling reporters on Thursday afternoon: “We just thought it was for the best of the team,” while Toney tweeted: “Chiefs kingdom, baby. Thank you God.”

The 23-year-old Toney, a first-round pick by the Giants in 2021, has been plagued with injuries which have limited him to just 12 games in his career. He totaled 39 catches for 420 yards in 10 games last season, and logged two catches on three targets for no yards in two games this season. An ongoing hamstring injury has prevented Toney from hitting the field since Week 2 of this season.

The Giants (6-1) will face the Seattle Seahawks (4-3) at 4:25 p.m. EDT Sunday in Seattle. The Chiefs (5-2) are on bye in Week 8, and will host the Tennessee Titans (4-2) at 8:20 p.m. Nov. 6 at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

Tyler Hubbard drops the video for ‘I’m The Only One’

Tyler Hubbard has dropped he video for “I’m The Only One,” one of the six tracks included on his Dancin’ In The Country project. The song was co-written by Tyler, Chris Loocke and Rhett Akins and will be included on his upcoming debut solo album, due out on January 27th.

Said Tyler: “This song is pure joy. ‘I’m The Only One’ is a song that feels classic and timeless – it’s for anyone who has love in their life, who’s found their partner. I feel so blessed to have my wife Hayley and think of her every time I sing this song. The music video was a blast to make. Just like the previous videos we’ve released, we really wanted to think outside the box and create a scene and a setting that was a little unique and unexpected. So, we did this one in a classic Nashville suit shop. The shop closes, and it’s party-time for me. I’m seen having a good time, trying on suits and making this shop my own. It’s just such a fun video.”

Tyler will also make his Grand Ole Opry debut as a solo artist on Friday, November 11th. Tickets are available at Opry.com.

Henry Cavill posted to social media to share that he is “back as Superman” following his cameo in the post-credits scene of “Black Adam,” which opened last weekend to $140 million worldwide. The news comes after years of rumors and speculation about Superman’s long-awaited return to the DC Universe.
