2021 American Music Awards nominees are announced

On Thursday (Oct. 28), the American Music Awards announced the nominees for all 32 categories for the 2021 awards ceremony. Leading the nominations this year is first-time nominee Olivia Rodrigo, who is nominated in seven categories including Artist of the Year and New Artist of the Year. Following closely behind is The Weeknd with six nominations, followed by Bad Bunny, Doja Cat and Giveon with five each.

New categories this year include Favorite Trending Song, to showcase viral TikTok hits, as well as Favorite Gospel Artist and Favorite Latin Duo/Group. Nominees are chosen by “key fan interactions” through the Billboard charts and take into account streaming, album sales, song sales and radio airplay. Winners are then chosen solely by the fans through various social media interactions and other AMAs website voting methods.

For the first time this year, fans can vote for the AMAs via TikTok by searching “AMAs” on the app. Voting is now open and fans can vote daily, once per method. Tickets to the awards show are now on sale now at axs.com. The ceremony will take place live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 8:00 p.m. EST/PST. The show will also air on ABC.
