Puscifer preview upcoming album with the track ‘ImpetuoUs’

Puscifer have shared their latest track “ImpetuoUs,” the third preview of their upcoming album, Normal Isn’t, arriving February 6th. The band previously released two other songs from the 11-track album: “Self Evident” and “Pendulum.”

The accompanying visualizer for ImpetuoUs shares the first look at the Puscifer comic book series, “Tales From The Pusciverse,” launching alongside Normal Isn’t. The debut issue spotlights the character Bellendia Black, originally introduced in the video for “Pendulum.” Additional details about the series will be announced soon.

Maynard James Keenan says: “I’m looking forward to hearing where this song takes people. As the writers, we forget that in a way, we are carpenters and that we’ve been with this song since it was a pile of lumber. Our Perspective may differ from the final occupant of this space we’ve constructed. Shelter, Bridge or Gallows, Coffin? Curious to find out.”

Mat Mitchell, who co-produced the album, shared:“From the outset, we had discussed an element of rawness and edge, which guitar brings. We got rid of the guard rails and made the music more aggressive.” Keenan added:“’Normal Isn’t’ reflects this time we are living in. As storytellers and artists, our job is to observe, interpret, and report. We take in our environment and share what we see, and what we see around us does not appear normal. Not by a long shot.”

The band will also be launching a North American tour March 20th in Las Vegas, Nevada, making stops at New York’s Terminal 5, Red Rocks Amphitheatre just outside of Denver, and more before concluding on May 14 in Los Angeles. Ticket info can be found HERE.

Also leading up to the February 6th release of ‘Normal Isn’t’ will be early screenings of the band’s new concert film, Normal Isn’t: Puscifer Live at the Pacific Stock Exchange, held at select independent record stores. Keenan shares: “Brick and mortar vinyl shops are the lifeblood of independent bands. There is a symbiotic relationship that was almost obliterated by the age of digital downloads and streaming. Thankfully, we survived by working together.” The list of participating independent retailers can be found on the Puscifer’s website; additionally, the concert film will be available for purchase on February 9th at 3 pm ET on the HERE.

Shooting involving Border Patrol near Arizona border leaves one person critically injured

One person was critically wounded Tuesday morning in a shooting involving U.S. Border Patrol agents in southern Arizona, prompting a multi-agency investigation led by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD).

The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. near milepost 15 on West Arivaca Road, close to the U.S.-Mexico border and about 10 miles from the community of Arivaca — an area frequently patrolled because of migrant crossings and smuggling activity. Emergency crews from the Santa Rita Fire District and American Medical Response treated the injured individual at the scene before transferring them by medical helicopter to a regional trauma center. The person’s identity and current condition have not been released.

According to the FBI, the shooting stemmed from “an alleged assault on a federal officer,” and the individual involved was taken into custody. The sheriff’s department is overseeing the use-of-force investigation at the FBI’s request, which is standard protocol when a federal agent is involved in a shooting within Pima County. The Santa Rita Fire District said: “Patient care was transferred to a local medical helicopter for rapid transport to a regional trauma center. The incident remains under active investigation by law enforcement agencies.”

The PCSD said in a statement: “We ask the community to remain patient and understanding as this investigation moves forward. PCSD will thoroughly examine all aspects of the incident, however, these investigations are complex and require time.”

Officials have not confirmed whether any law enforcement personnel were injured, and no additional details about the suspect or circumstances leading up to the shooting have been released.

The shooting adds to heightened scrutiny of federal immigration enforcement after a series of recent officer-involved shootings across the country, including two fatal incidents in Minnesota that sparked protests and political backlash. In response, House Democratic leaders accused the Trump administration of misusing federal authority and threatened impeachment proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem if she is not removed. President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Noem would not step down and confirmed that border czar Tom Homan was meeting with Minnesota officials.

South Carolina measles surge becomes largest U.S. outbreak in decades

South Carolina is now facing the largest measles outbreak in the United States since the disease was declared eliminated more than 20 years ago, with confirmed cases climbing to 789, surpassing the major Texas outbreak of 2025 that sickened 762 people and claimed the lives of two young children.

State health officials reported that 89 new infections were confirmed in just a few days, signaling that transmission remains widespread. The outbreak, which began in October, is heavily concentrated in Spartanburg County, where most patients are either unvaccinated or unsure of their vaccination status. To limit further spread, 557 people are currently under a 21-day quarantine, and students from more than 20 schools have been sent home due to potential exposure.

Children and teenagers account for the vast majority of infections, with over 88% of cases occurring in those under 17. So far, 18 people, including children, have been hospitalized, though no deaths have been reported in South Carolina. Health authorities say only 20 patients were fully vaccinated, while more than 690 had no protection at all, underscoring how quickly measles can spread in communities with low vaccination rates.

The outbreak’s impact is no longer limited to South Carolina. Linked cases have surfaced in North Carolina, California, and Washington, and additional probable cases have been reported elsewhere. In North Carolina alone, 14 cases have been confirmed, many connected directly to the South Carolina surge. More than 170 people in Union County were quarantined following exposure at a private school where vaccination coverage sits just above 60%.

The rapid spread has pushed the United States dangerously close to losing its measles elimination status, a milestone achieved in 2000 after years of aggressive vaccination efforts. Federal health officials warn that if the virus continues circulating from a single source for more than a year, the designation could be revoked as early as this fall.

Nationwide, 2025 marked the worst year for measles since 1991, with 2,255 confirmed cases. So far in 2026, at least 416 infections have already been recorded across 14 states, even before including South Carolina’s most recent numbers. Another growing outbreak is also underway along the Arizona–Utah border.

Federal health officials say they are stepping up support, with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services approving $1.4 million in emergency funding to help South Carolina manage the crisis. The CDC is also working closely with state health departments to track transmission and contain further spread.

Public health leaders stress that vaccination remains the most effective tool to halt the outbreak and prevent measles from regaining a permanent foothold in the U.S. Without significant improvements in immunization rates, they warn, similar outbreaks could continue to emerge nationwide.

Buffalo Bills sign OC Joe Brady to five-year contract as new head coach

The Buffalo Bills have named offensive coordinator Joe Brady as their next head coach, signing him to a five-year deal, the team announced Tuesday.

Brady takes over following the dismissal of Sean McDermott, who was let go after Buffalo’s overtime loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC divisional round. McDermott, the second-longest-tenured coach in franchise history behind Marv Levy, spent nine seasons leading the Bills. During his tenure, Buffalo reached the playoffs eight times, posted one of the league’s best regular-season records since 2017, and advanced to two AFC Championship Games, though the team fell short of a Super Bowl appearance.

Before arriving in Buffalo, Brady, 36, helped design LSU’s record-setting offense during its 2019 national championship season, working with Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. He later served as offensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, gaining valuable NFL experience despite uneven results.

Brady has been part of the Bills’ organization since 2022, initially serving as quarterbacks coach before stepping into the offensive coordinator role midway through the 2023 season. After replacing Ken Dorsey, Brady helped spark a dramatic turnaround. From that point forward, Buffalo posted the NFL’s best record and led the league in efficiency, finishing among the top teams in scoring and total offense.

Under Brady’s guidance, quarterback Josh Allen delivered the best stretch of his career, earning his first MVP award in 2024. The Bills also set franchise single-season records that year for total points and touchdowns. In 2025, running back James Cook captured the NFL rushing title, while the offense remained among the league’s most productive units. His strong relationship with Allen proved central to his rise in Buffalo. Allen has repeatedly praised Brady’s leadership and energy, saying last season, “[Brady’s] one of the most positive guys in the building. He’s always got juice and energy for the guys. I think that’s something that we love and appreciate about him, and he’s as real as they come.”

Coco Gauff eliminated from 2026 Australian Open after loss to Elina Svitolina

Elina Svitolina dominated in a 59 minute semifinal match to eliminate Coco Gauff from the 2026 Australian Open, winning with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. The Ukrainian’s sharp returning, steady baseline play, and relentless pressure proved too much for the third-seeded American, whose hopes of a first Australian Open title were dashed once again.

Svitolina seized control from the start, overwhelming Gauff with clean shot-making, finishing with 12 winners, while keeping her own mistakes in check with only 16 unforced errors. Gauff, by contrast, struggled to find any rhythm, committing 26 errors and managing just a handful of winners. Her serve faltered badly, with five double faults and no aces, and she was broken repeatedly as Svitolina surged ahead.

After the match, Gauff acknowledged her opponent’s level and her own inability to respond. “She played really well,” she said. “Unfortunately, usually when people raise their level, I’m able to raise mine. Today, I just didn’t do that. I have to figure out how not to do that again.” Gauff admitted she had difficulties across all aspects of her game, from groundstrokes to returns, but emphasized that Svitolina’s aggressive approach forced many of the errors. Following the handshake at the net, cameras captured Gauff venting her frustration backstage by smashing her racket against a concrete surface. She later addressed the incident, saying, “I tried to go somewhere where there were no cameras,” adding that she prefers not to break rackets publicly and wants to set a positive example. “I broke one racket [at the] French Open, I think, and I said I would never do it again on court because I don’t feel like that’s a good representation.”

The loss marked another early exit for Gauff in Melbourne. Despite her Grand Slam successes at the U.S. Open and French Open, the Australian Open remains her toughest major, with a 2024 semifinal appearance still standing as her best result. This year’s defeat also reduced the American presence in the women’s draw, leaving the winner of the all-U.S. quarterfinal between Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova as the lone hope for a semifinal spot.

Svitolina,  31, now advances to her first Australian Open semifinal and the fourth Grand Slam semifinal of her career. It also marked a milestone in her comeback journey following maternity leave, after welcoming her daughter in 2022 and returning to the tour in 2023. Her strong run in Melbourne will push her back into the world’s top 10, a goal she had set after stepping away late last season due to fatigue. “I’m very pleased with the way I’ve been playing, not only in this match, but in the tournament overall,” Svitolina said. “I’m just very happy to be in the semifinalist finally after so many years here, so many tries.”

Standing in her path is world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, who cruised past American teenager Iva Jovic 6-3, 6-0 earlier in the day. Sabalenka, a two-time Australian Open champion, is aiming to reclaim the title after falling short in last year’s final and remains one of the tournament’s clear favorites.

The remaining women’s semifinalists will be determined by the matchups between Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina, and the all-American duel between Pegula and Anisimova. The winners of those contests will meet for the chance to face either Sabalenka or Svitolina in the championship match.
