Tanya Tucker, Brandi Carlile & More Earn Multiple “Americana Awards” Nominations

The nominees for the 2020 Americana Honors & Awards were announced, and artists with multiple nominations across the six categories include Tanya Tucker, Brandi Carlile, The Highwomen, Nathaniel Rateliff, Black Pumas, Brittany Howard and more.

The winners will be announced during the Americana Honors & Awards on Sept. 16 at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium. The ceremony is usually the centerpiece of AmericanaFest, which typically features more than 100 artists performing at different venues throughout Nashville; however, this year’s AmericanaFest has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Next year’s AmericanaFest dates have been set for Sept. 21–26, 2021.

Carly Pearce And Lee Brice Hit The Top Of The Charts With “I Hope You’re Happy Now”

Carly Pearce and Lee Brice reached the top of the Mediabase chart with their duet, “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” written by Carly, Luke Combs, Jonathan Singleton and Randy Montana. “I Hope You’re Happy Now” is featured on Carly’s self-titled sophomore album, and is her second No. 1 single. Lee earns his seventh No. 1 single with the track.

Maren Morris Shares Singles “Just for Now” And “Takes Two”

Maren Morris is sharing two previously unreleased tracks—“Just for Now” and “Takes Two”—which she recorded during the making of her debut album, Hero (2016), and sophomore album, Girl (2019).

Penned by Maren, Ryan Hurd and the late songwriter busbee, “Just for Now” was recorded during the Hero sessions. “Takes Two” was recorded during the Girl sessions.

Garth Brooks To Hold Concert Event Across 300 Drive-In Theaters On June 27th

Garth Brooks will headline a unique concert event on June 27,. performing across 300 drive-in theaters. The concert will be created exclusively for this event, making it the largest one-night show to play at outdoor theaters across the United States and Canada.

Says Garth. “This drive-in concert allows us all to get back to playing live music without the uncertainty of what would be the result to us as a community. This is old school, new school, and perfect for the time we are in.”

Tickets will go on sale on June 19 at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketmaster. You will also be able to review the drive-in theaters available in your area. Tickets are General Admission and of limited availability. They will cost $100, all inclusive. The event will take place rain or shine and will begin at dusk.

Luke Bryan Releases New Song And Video Called “Build Me A Daddy”

Luke Bryan has released his new song, “Build Me a Daddy,” and accompanying video for the track.

“Build Me a Daddy” is featured on Luke’s upcoming seventh studio album, Born Here, Live Here, Die Here, which is set to drop on Aug. 7. The new song follows the release of three singles from the album: “Knockin’ Boots,” “What She Wants Tonight” and “One Margarita.”

Gone West Releases Their Long-Awaited Debut Album “Canyons”

Gone West has released its debut album, Canyons.  The band –– consisting of singer Colbie Caillat, songwriter Jason Reeves, Hawaiian recording artist Justin Kawika Young and singer Nelly Joy, was originally formed in 2018 after successful individual careers as recording artists and songwriters.

The members of the group have known each other for more than a decade. Nelly and Jason are married, while Colbie and Justin recently broke off their engagement. The band takes its name as a homage to their homes states—Iowa, Texas, California and Hawaii—which are all west of their current Nashville residence.

Each of the members of Gone West shared in the writing of all 13 songs on Canyons, which also features songwriters Tom Douglas, Liz Rose, Nathan Chapman and more. The album’s lead single, “What Could’ve Been” is currently No. 30 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart – you can listen to it at the link: here

Katherine Williams-Dunning, Daughter Of Hank Williams Jr, Killed In Car Crash In Tennessee

Katherine Williams-Dunning, the daughter of Hank Williams Jr. and his ex-wife, Mary Jane Thomas, was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Henry Country, Tennessee.  Katherine was just 27 years old. 

According to a statement from the Tennessee Highway Patrol: “Katherine Williams-Dunning was the driver of a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe involved in the single-vehicle crash near Antioch Road. The SUV was towing a boat at 7:44 p.m. southbound on Highway 79 when it crossed the dividing median in the highway and rolled over, crossing northbound lanes and coming to a rest on the shoulder. Williams-Dunning was killed in the crash.”

Katherine’s husband, Tyler Dunning, 29, was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where his condition is currently unknown. Williams-Dunning lived in Springville, Tenn. and she and her husband Tyler have been married since October of 2015. They have two young children, a 5-year-old son named Beau Weston and a 2-year-old daughter named Audrey Jane.

Margo Price Shares New Video For “Letting Me Down”

Margo Price’s new song “Letting Me Down” is off her upcoming album That’s How Rumors Get Started set to drop on July 10.  Letting Me Down is the third single following “Stone Me” and “Twinkle Twinkle”, and features Sturgill Simpson on backing vocals. 

For the video, director Kimberly Stuckwisch drove a 1980s RV from LA to Nashville and parked it in Price’s driveway for more than two weeks, in order to conduct a socially distanced video shoot at Price’s house.

Jason Isbell and Lucinda Williams Announce 2021 Tour

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will hit the West Coast and Texas next summer with Lucinda Williams.

The 2021 dates will kick off July 19th in Vancouver and include stops in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City. The trek also hits Kansas and Arkansas before concluding with three shows in Texas in August.

Isbell released his new album Reunions in May and celebrated the LP with a crowdless livestreamed performance at Nashville’s Brooklyn Bowl. Williams released her latest album Good Souls Better Angels back in April.

Eric Church, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves & More To Honor John Prine At Tribute Show

The late John Prine will be honored at Picture Show: A Tribute Celebrating John Prine on June 11. Prine died on April 3 due to COVID-19 complications.

Among the many artists that will appear at Picture Show include Brandi Carlile, Eric Church, Vince Gill, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Margo Price, Fiona Whelan Prine, Jack Prine, Tommy Prine, Bonnie Raitt, Sturgill Simpson, and Prine’s longtime band (Kenneth Blevins, David Jacques, Fats Kaplin, Jason Wilber).

The tribute will feature memories, songs and never-before-seen footage of John, while raising money for three organizations: NAMI, Alive and Make the Road New York. Prine was a two-time Grammy winner, Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member. He was also the recipient of the Recording Academy’s 2020 Lifetime Achievement Award.
